He has led over 14 8000m expeditions that include Everest 2015, 17, 18 and 19, Broad Peak, Manaslu, Cho Oyu, Gasherbrum 1, Gasherbrum 2, Mount Kenya, Spantik, Baruntse, Mera Peak, Ama Dablam, Ojos del Salado, Patagonia, Damavand, Elbrus, Dych Tau, Mount Logan, Island Peak, Ecuador plus many others. 8201m on Cho Oyu. Everest in the background In the early 1990s at university I started competing in both fell and road races around the Peak District, achieving 77 minutes for a 1/2m and 34 mins for a 10k on the road. The hills and moors of the Peak District National Park were a great training ground and I attribute my speed, endurance and technical ability to hours spent chasing my friends along the top of Stanage. More recently I have turned my hand to Ironman distance triathlons around the world finishing sub 10 hrs
