“Good event...but could have been a lot better!! - Controlled start was very bad. Far too long & quite dangerous with riders crushing up behind slow moving pace cars. A mass start of 400+ riders of widely varying ability is also dangerous when the course does not provide an opportunity for the field to be split early. The controlled start should have been no longer than 5km & releasing the riders before the Sheikh Khalifa bridge would have provided an ideal opportunity for the elite riders to split the field by hammering up the bridge incline.”

“Good race but ...... - Overall a good race but not up to the usual standards of GMS. The road was dangerous at times. The traffic was next to lane one for most of the race, as there was no traffic management/police support for my group. The Mina traffic lights on the way back were not policed or marshalled, luckily for my large group the lights were green. Safety should be the same for the first and last riders. The water station should not be hidden or on a bend. Neutralised zone was too long. Great breakfast, thanks”

“Great event overall - Great event. Very well organized for the most but the return leg from Yas to Saadiyat had lost control. The hard shoulder was being used by the riders and not the inside road lane, probably because traffic was on the roads, albeit semi controlled by police stopping them passing the police but were passing the riders. I enjoyed the control start but whatever was causing the riders to break hard then speed up? Chaotic at times. Something to think about”

“A good experience but still lacks certain issues - The car tolling at the beginning could've caused considerable damage to the race. My teammates had an accident on the YAS exit and we had to wait for 40 mins for ambulance to arrive. We were the ones who called the police as the support reps showed little late and disappeared quickly.”

“A few safety improvements would benefit the event - Leading cars drove faster in some sections then would suddenly reduce speed, causing mild panic behind. On the way back, after the bridge buses and cars blocked all lanes leaving chasing group completely cut-off from the front of the race. Most defects and crashes happened in the shoulder area on the way back. Perhaps instructing riders before the race to avoid shoulder would make race safer. Otherwise a great opportunity to feel the excitement of group riding.”

“Great event - Well organised event & fun, but pls increase the safety of the cyclists on the highway road it was a free for all at ur own risk type thing. Road signs for vehicles attention& blinking lights would just do. I enjoyed the adventure tho :D”

“Fast fun ride - Neutralised start was a bit long. In future, if a mass start, riders need to know they must possess good bike handling skills. Overall, great event on safe roads, with good organisation. ”

“Great race, I just hope it was longer - Great organization and value for money event. Could have been split into age categories with different starting times to avoid all the tension during the paced part. Or the pace car could incease its speed gradually and let riders go on an incline, in order to reduce the risk of an accident. Also, it was very short. We could have done two laps. It was an easy route and it would have been much smoother that way. Anyway, a great experience and I will be back next year for sure. ”

“Great opportunity to ride safer on the motorway - Well organised with a delicious breakfast to top it up! However, coming back from Yas and closing to Zayed Port the traffic intensity and speed increased and in a short section with no buffer lane between traffic and cyclists. Some of the merging access roads were open which didn't help either. After the traffic lights all was perfect again. Hope this helps!”

“Great race but diabolical start - Overall, this was a very enjoyable race with the notable exception of the controlled start. Frankly, this was dangerous and I saw a number of near collisions due to the slowing of the pace car.”

“No support for flat tires - Walked the whole corniche road with flat tire, while I was in front group. Nowhere a bus or car to bring me back to finish. This needs to be better organized!!”

“Really enjoyed the race. Officials were excellent! - The road was supposed to be closed and the first 2 lanes were ours regardless. However there was traffic on those lanes all the way back from Yas including on Corniche but apart from that a great event and a very good experience ”
