“Friendly and good organisation - The route is a bit boring, and i asked then to change my category because they made a mistake ( male instead of female) but they didn t do it.. collection the day before would be nice also, but friendly and nice organisation”

“Ok race, but poor start/finish organization - The volunteers did their best, and it was nice to see adequate toilet facilities (big improvement), but the bag-drop /pick-up area was a disaster. T-shirts and bags were being given to anyone who asked, leaving none for late finishers who actually participated. Not nearly enough volunteers to handle the demand at the start or finish. Also, the course is good for 5-10k, boring for a half-marathon, and way too repetetive for a full marathon. Perhaps try to spread out the course around downtown?”

“Quite expensive! - On a route with multiple distances, I do understand that it could be difficult to manage, but km markers for 21/42 would be appreciated. The waterpoints were abandoned towards the end!!! ”

“Turmoil! - Grey tracksuit clip board man standing on the course smoking. Which was nice. A kind lady who had finished the race had to direct me in to complete my own, as the volunteer had gone. Dodging all the walkers at the start line. Finishers crossing paths with the runners. Food rubbish (had to get mine out of the clammy hands of a non participant). T-shirt rubbish (clammy hands was there again). Medals being given away like confetti. 200 QR! Awful! Great service from premier online though! ”

“Good developing event in Qatar - Start funnel could do with grading to separate fast from every day runners. Instruct slow runners/walkers to keep to one side of the road. No veggie option for food. Ran out of goodie bags-no excuse. No race photos published yet ”

“Think of the runners - Water and gatorade need to be in cups, no bottles please. why were they unevenly spaced? no motor vehicles should be allowed on the course! the gas exhaust was awful. ”

“Enjoyable experience overall - Was disappointed to learn (after signing up) that the 5K start time was changed to much later than originally advertised. I had a friend running the 10K and originally though we would take off together. However I had to hang around for an hour and half before I could go. Also my time is not shown in the results page?”

Comment from Premier Online - 13.01.2016
“Please use the 'results query form' on the results page to send in information about your times, race number etc so this can be checked. There is normally a good explanation :)”

“At last! I have my Medal! - It was in 2013 when I first joined this event. Is there any improvement? A little. Yes a little. I saw non-participant of this event getting their t-shirt and giveaways. Oh! It is possible. Maybe I will just visit next time without participating and get the t-shirt and food :) How about providing us a stab for collection? The medal. 2013 they forgot to give me :( and I wish I have it. Anyhow, keep up the good work and plan ahead please... you have all a year to make it memorable again. :) ”

“Nice run - All in all, great event. Not comparable to other marathons (Berlin, Dubai, Moscow) though. The start/finish line must be bigger (not one small arch split up in two lanes). Staff of Premier Timing very helpful ! Post race services can improve a lot (Tshirt handout, result announcements). Prizes for top 3 or six of each race category (keep it like this).”

“Great field, great experience! - As a beginner runner on my first year, I am quite happy to have capped it off by joining Ooredoo Marathon. The field was great, running on a international standard race course, breaking my personal best timing, the whole experience drives me to join more races in the near future, including next year's edition. Thanks for the experience Ooredoo, I will treasure it wherever I may go.”

“Well organized except for goodies distribution - Event was very well organized.. water stations were well located.. venue was very beautiful. The only thing that was bad was goodies distribution. It was handled like a disaster relief. People stood around a fenced area and kept asking for their goodies. There were very few volunteers to handle, who ended up giving more than one to some greedy people. There were 5 bib issuing counters empty after the event and they could have used it to distribute the goodies, with one counter for a t-shirt size.”

“Excellent event except for giveaways delivery - If I was running a full marathon I would like not to more than two loops in any course (it feels boring). There was no organization for the giveaways and items would come separately (bag and hat, t-shirt) and with no queue system, people shouting sizes for t-shirt and mixed up with bags collection (for the runners who kept personal items there). Also my neighbor who did the full marathon told me by the time he finished there was no water or food box left for them (all given away).”

“Well marketed, great fun, almost perfectly executed - Baggage drop off & collection needed much more organisation. Perhaps specific areas for each race. Once I arrived and saw runners roaming around the collection area looking for their items I genuinely worried that I may not get my bits back at the end, as my bag could easily have been mistaken for another.”

“Could be better - Second time I run .....first time I ran a half marathon.... This time a10 K because half marathon was sold out-- even I didn't see much people running the half. After the race, no signs where to take the shirt. When you find the place, a lot of people waiting in a very desorganized way. For the meal and beverage, same, no sign where is the place and nobody to inform you the place. So I ran fiirst time 2 years ago and didn't see much improve for the last2 years. Expensive for what offers”

“Good race. Well organized. - Prize giving took AGES. Put up a list so people can see their time and finishing place. Medal is uninspiring- perhaps a contest to create a more interesting one. Started on time! No garbage cans. Garbage laying all over. Disgusting mess. Food was presented in a nice Ezdan box; which although nice was too wasteful. Prizes were AMAZING! Would have been nice to have age group prizes. ”

“All around great experience - This ooredoo (incl. Q-Tel) Marathon was the best out of all four. The improvements in course, actual vs. planned starting time and variety in race distances was obvious. The only (minor) downside was the non-availability of drinking water when I finished, but a friendly runner could help me out. I hope the event will continue in the years to come.”

“An OK event! nothing great - There are no photographs to download like year! the give aways not that impressive, i can't get my head through the large t shirt! the bag drop off was a disaster the course was rather boring, glad to see the organisers didn't want to be creative about having a scenic route which would have been wonderful to run. The organisers must do better, this is a popular event with some people travelling from abroad!”

“Overall a good value for the money event - Nice route, well marshaled, support stations with plenty of liquids, but no kind of food e.g.bananas!!!! (very important for a marathon). Medal not bad, but looks cheap. Cut off time should be extended a bit. Overall a good value for the money event.”

“A well organised event but course boring - Really good organisation of race pack collection. Course of 2 full laps for half marathon becomes boring. a straight "out and back" would be preferable but understand the difficulties with the construction works in Doha. I will be back out there in 2017! Thanks to all the organisors and helpers ”

“Overall an enjoyable event - I enjoyed the race, there was a good atmosphere, the view was beautiful. It was a very enjoyable day and mostly well organised. Just a few things that needed improvement - the organisation of bags in the bag drop area, the email with time change only mentioned the 5k, the medals should have the distance on them and people should not have been allowed to walk through the finish line, obstructing finishers.”

“Good but lots of room for improvement - Good: started on time, ok course, Qatar is such a beautiful city - would be nice to see more on the run; great prize money Improvements: Bag drop was horrendous - huge lines, race started before people could get bags in, bags moved so they couldn't find them; collection pack totally disorganized - very disappointing Money should be given by age groups Runners should not have to cross in front of other runners to finish a race; names should be announced for finishers”

“For my first time Marathon I was pretty happy - Run & course Vgood, improvement inclusion of more KM markers. The start/finish area was not great no clear signage for service points. Presentation of medal at finish line was good. I did the full marathon & when I crossed finish line after 4hr23min there was no food left which was the case for the other people behind me, food was randomly given away to non-participants. Give away pack was not great as T-shirts were not unisex so I ended up with a female T-shirt. Doha College Run was much better”

“Good - The organization of the event was better than last year. The course was a little boring. The bag drop off/collection needs to be better organized as there were long queues befor ethe race start. Emails communications didnt seem to mentin the race start times other than for the 5 km. These are just ways to imporive but overall a good enjoyable event. ”

“Much better than last year!!! - Last year was a organisational disaster for Ooredoo. The one hour delay was poorly communicated,.we were all freezing and miserable. We had no idea when the races would begin! Kids race toilets filthy dusty This year, the event went off well and on TIME as planned. The roads were shut appropriately and it was smooth sailing. My only complaint is that the email communication did NOT tell us what TIME the different races started. With a family of 5 we needed to know. More toilet paper PLEASE.”

“Attractive course - misses essential features - Conditions were perfect and very charming route on the Corniche. Given the lack of bottlenecks I was expecting a good time - but with no KM markers hard to know my pace and psycholically challenging without these to aim for. Bag drop and pick up was particularly poorly organised. Not a comment on the volunteers who did their best but on the system. Why hand write a number on a wrist band when everyone wears a race number already? Disorganised storage of the bags. Huge queues.”

Dean V. - 11.01.2016

“Lovely to see so many runners out together. - Very well organised, just three points for improvement: - the 3 & 5 k start interrupted some people coming in, as the start line was the finish line. This is no acceptable when you have put in a lot of effort for a good time for yourself. - At one point the marshal showing people to turn left for the finish line took a little break. I took over marshalling as some people were very confused and did not know where to finish. - As the finish line said: Start, a lot of people got confused”

Joseph K. - 11.01.2016

“Nice weather and course along the corniche! - Improved over the last few years! Bag drop needs to be quicker to avoid long lines, no need to give wrist number as it is already on your bib. Possibility of reducing laps maybe 21k loop, hence 2 laps for full distance. Distribution of giveways needs improvement (food, shirt..), ppl not running we're walking away with the goodies while not enough for actual runners. Medal should state distance ran as in previous years (same 5k thru to 42). Race photos not available anywhere every year...”

“Awesome event in an awesome city! - Excellent set up, was a little concerned at first with the race being announced so late but they pulled it off. Far improved event from last year. Races started on time, drinks on the course, well marshalled and supported. Car parking in ample supply, easy to collect race numbers and t-shirts. Will be back again to support this race. Well done Ooredoo on providing such a great race.”

“Potentially a gereat event - On line registration was laborious and a little painful. The cross over of the finish / start was tricky too with finishers from the longer runs having to dodge starters from the shorter runs. Goody bag collection was an issue - poorly organised and too few handing out. There were many positives - great atmosphere, nice fast course, on-time start, good water stations and marshals, good gift pack at the finish, overall pretty well organised and enjoyable.”

“Not bad for Qatar! - Fast course. Start set-up for later races was not good with 5k/3k/1k competitors running straight into those finishing the earlier races. Hand-out of goodie bag was completely disorganized. The quality of these items was poor also.”

“Great atmosphere.Volunteers were wonderful. - I was happy that the awards ceremonies were staggered, and that we didn't have to wait for the marathon winners. It meant we didn't have to wait around. The food was good, too. Generous prize money. It would be nice to add a masters category for 50+ and maybe reduce the winners to top five instead of six .”

“Expected Less, Wanted More - Overall, I was happy with this. The route was closed, the race started on time, the water stations were plentiful. My results weren't online but quickly rectified. Pre-race communication better than expected. Parking was great. Improvements: Some signage with K markers (at least at the corners); food on course; I never got t-shirt - no directions at finish, just a medal and chaos. I left with nothing at the end. The # emailed to me wasnt the race number I ended up with but people were there”

“Nice, Fun, love the route - I enjoyed the run, it was my first time to participate in an event like this but enjoyable. Had not trained for a month due to holiday but was able to get my speed and stamina. It was so great. The only negative side of it was the collection of the shirt, caps and bags.. they are so unorganized; we've waited for so long and I was not able to get my size as they've told me that it's difficult to check for my size... :( :( Above all, I like the route, fun, easy tracking... ”

“Great event but need more improvement - Concern point - parking, poor pack distribution, t-sirt is not representing the marathon event but more like fun run with poor printing, course to be improved, value of money is expensive as Ooredoo was sponsoring the event with other sponsors printed on the t-shirt.”

“Needs to Upgrade - I love the event. I love running. I have been running for almost 6 years now. But because of the climate in Qatar, I have to run outdoors through cold season only. That makes my training outdoor inadequate. I suggest that for me to be eager to join next year's run, the event should be: (1) a new route (2) event date 2 weeks away from the holiday season (3) 21 & 42K participants should not be limited and cutoff time should be extended (4) 42K routes should not be by multiple laps. it's boring.”

“Definitely improvable - Positive points have been the parking for the runners and drinks provided at race stations. Fruits were missing though. “Significant improvement - The organization of this year's event was a significant improvement over previous years and the organizers must be commended. The weather cooperated which made things easier for everyone and the course was average, and under-staffed water stations remain an issue, but the organizers got many of the other important areas right - an on-time start, accurate course, regular water stations, signage, timing, etc. ”

Ioanna F. - 10.01.2016

“It can be better - There is room for improvements considering the high fees of participation. The non existence of categories is unacceptable. It is not the same 19 year old with 45. The 42km runners to take the same medallion with the 5km ones. The 4:30 hours limit. Unacceptable. The target is to finish. Not to run at the time the organizers demand. ”

Comment from Premier Online - 10.01.2016
“The cut off time was published (and announced) as 5hrs, the timekeepers stayed operational up to 5.30hrs. Advice was given for those who would finish after the published cut off time, to move to the sidewalk as standard in most all marathons. You registered/ran 5K, it is not common to have age categories in a 5K race although it was split adults/juniors. The medal was also promoted as an acknowledgement of finishing, not indicative of distance.”

“Great event but still room for improvement - Organisation was better than last year, esp. timely start this time. Things to improve: I found it difficult to find water before the start. Bag drop off took too long, as well as bag collection. Goodie bag should have been put together before finishers arrived. Not enough garbage bins. Medal with event details like distance would have been much better. Overall a good event and I would join again.”

“Good event, big improvement over last year! - It was a well organised event from pre-registration to event communication to actual race. A big improvement over last year. “Generally impressed with the organization and the fact it started on time. - Great event! I like to thank all the organizers for their efforts. But the problem is in the course, for the full marathon which was tiring as they had to cross the Corniche Road about 8 times, which led to them feeling bored. I wish that the marathon is a single course from Qanara to the MIA and back.”

“Will participate again next year. - I have a good time joining the event since this is my First Half marathon event in Qatar. The Finisher entitlements and Goody bags are soo worth it! However I have one suggestion, for the support station. Hopefully for the next year, aside from generous hydration support (water and gatorade), it is also necessary to add at least some food like banana and/or choolates and the likes for the HM/FM runners to energize them at least while doing several laps! More power to the event organizers! ”

“Nice event, but course should be longer - The event was very well organized, except maybe the delivery of the race pack at the end, where I noticed a lot of confusion and very few volunteers. The course should be organized to have at least a lap of 21k, otherwise it gets very boring for the people running the full marathon. However overall the event of this year was a great success, punctual starting time and very good marshal service and support stations! Well done guys!”

“Well run except the end, no food left for marathon - All food was given away before I ended my marathon at 3 hours, 25 minutes, which should be unacceptable. There was a lack of appreciation by support staff that people were still racing. Solution is to control the issue of post event refreshments until race has been closed at 1130. Also, place tape or barriers to keep out the photographers from the start line; their presence created a dangerous situation for the runners at the start.”

“I was not satisfied with the giveaways - Giveaways need to be improved, not organized in terms of finishing the race... No idea where to go after finish line to get the race pack, the meal and other freebies unlike last 2015 where in from the finish line one area to be followed for everything. But I was extremely happy because of the race. I can be improved by next year 2017.”

“A few suggetsions for post-race - 1) There was no food for the marathon runners who finished after about 3 hours. As they need it more than those running the other distances, I suggest you make sure that enough food packs are kept back for those that finished towards the end, instead of giving to non-runners, as I understand that 1,400 participated but 3,000 food packs were available. 2) The fee is fairly steep. There were no correct sizes left when I finished. This needs to be addressed.”

“Enjoyed... but organizers still not getting it! - In future, I would expect the organizers to work out that: * having runners, support vehicles, and pedestrians crossing each others paths is not safe. * a proper system for collecting t-shirts or dropped bags is essential, * if someone has sposored loads of meals, that there doesn't need to be so much wastage.... * meals in fancy boxes are great, but deal with the leftover garbage * more marshals or signs at the final turn to finish would have helped! * a medal with race details is better”

“Good day, nice weather, enjoyable - Would be useful to have the tops off the water bottles on pickup, and more prominent km markers and transition markers for the 10k”

“Good, but chaos at the start - Maybe next year there should be different start times for the 3k and 5k as it was crazy with little kids in your way and the 'elite' 5k adults and kids all staring together.”

“Enjoyable event, well put together - Thanks and congrats to the organisers, it was a well run event & a lot of work went into it. Some food on the course would be good, eg some bananas for the 42k runners. The course was 4 laps, not inspiring but probably due to the Qatari authorities not backing it rather than the organisers. My only gripe was to late info, the race route etc only came out days before the event The race itself was only announced in Nov (about 6 weeks before the event) which is not enough time to prepare properly ”

“I want to change the color of the finisher T-shirt - I want to change the quality and color of the finisher T-shirt maybe try it color of RED. And only I see when you finish the race,it should be separate way both start and finish I mean is they both same place but separate line. ”

“Excellent on time start and beautiful route. - - no social media build up leading to the event. All stuff was related to 2015. - pure chaos collecting the t-shirt. Bags should have been put together with the hat and shirt and prepared BEFORE runners showed up! T-shirts also a bit goofy. - hard to find a free bottle of water before race start. ”

“Not impressed at all - This was my 1st time participating in this event and it may be my last. The route was boring, it did not allow for the scenery in Doha. No cheer / fans along the race. the mile markers were not visible along the road. The food was completely gone by the time I finished the race. The medals were cheap! Race bib pick up should be done the before race and not the ear of. ”

“All rather last minute - In sufficient notice for people to train for a marathon. Bag drop could have much simpler. Post race food was a big box of nothing; I'd question the need. A good coarse you should stick too. I would question the elite disqualifications, the guys appeared to run the distance.”

“Organisation to be improved - 3rd occasion running this race. Lucky it is the only major local marathon or I would choose another to participate in. Did the full marathon. At the end no food was available, everything was given to shorter distance runners or volunteers. 2nd year in a row I got a tshirt I wont use. Last year was a 21.1km Tshirt after running 42.2km, this year it was a too big t-shirt with a lady on it. Suggestion for next year, gender and distance neutral shirts. On a positive started on time & course was good”

“Has potential to be amazing - Some brilliant bits, compère was fantastic. Bib collection should be beforehand, bag handlers needed MUCH more support. Giveaway bags should have been organised (ie, shirt and hat in bag) prior. Not enough small/medium shirts and would be nice to see more activities/sponsors there eg warm ups from fitness trainers etc ”

“Excellent course, but giveaways.... - Very nice event, but giveaways (shirt, bag and cap) were poor quality, unfortunately. I will run this course again, but for a marathon and the price you pay for it, I was expecting a better quality material”

“Enjoyable race, route can be improved - This is Qatar's only "real" marathon event, and event that can be used to show case a bit more of the country. The corniche is definitely one of the most beautiful areas to run at, but doing laps up and down is not really that much fun! Would be great if the organizers can include more of WestBay/City Centre. Thanks for organizing the event!”

“Enjoyable race, some minor improvements possible. - Great race overall. The course is awesome, running just after sunrise. The collection of racebibs was fine, but maybe combine it with the 'goody pack' as suggested by other ratings as well. Start / finish area can have some improvements, especially if the number of participants will increase in the future. Personally I think having a 'loop' course is a bit of a shame for the (half) marathon, but for the 5 and 10k it was fine.”

“Acceptable overall but finish area total chaos - The organization overall was better than previous years which were quite catastrophic. I ran the full marathon, everything went smoothly and up to the normal standards since the beginning (which is quite a big achievement) until the finish where it was simply a total chaos, when I crossed the finish line there was simply nothing, no medal no tshirt no bag no food not even water, they just ran out of everything. I spent 15 minutes looking to get finally only a medal & a tshirt with wrong size.”

“Let down by small but important failings - Praise - started on time, well marshaled, pretty location for Doha Failings: 1)'Help' desk which knew very little. 2)Cramped start line for 3 distances - joggers near the front in front of athletes looking to race 10k.3)Absolute shambles of presentation, which took forever.4)Food box contents appalling and wasteful. Acidic green apple and inedible sandwich.5)Marathon runners coming in after 3hrs 15 had almost no reception. 6)Medal devalued by being given to 5k thru to 42. I could add more...”

“Well organised but poor marathon course. - Many aspects of this race were good. BUT FOUR loops around the Corniche! Just so boring. In previous years this was a two lap course for marathon runners. In future, I'll leave this one for the 10K people, and go to Dubai for a proper marathon.”

“Getting better year on year - Another year and another improvement for the Ooredoo Marathon event. Started on time, Lovely route, completely closed road circuit, really good marshals and water stations. Next year further improvements could be made to collecting goodie bag and not starting the 3k, 5k from the same location as 10k, 21k runners were trying to finish. The marathon course does need more work though... up and down the corniche four times is a boring and maybe a 5hr cutoff time might have scared off first timers”

“This is great than last year - They followed the start timings my only comment is the distribution of the freebies. Unlike last year there is tumbler, towel, bag. The distribution booth are in different area. It should be packed in one bag. Thats all!!!! All are awesome ”

“Good but there is space for kmprovement - Staff at support stations were not concentrated on runners. I had to almost stop a pull a bottle of gatorade from staff's hand since he was not evevn looking at me (talking with his friend). Anything else was good.”

“This event has so much potential- fun as always! - Why of why don't we have cool route? I think if you get the route right, lots of people would be attracted to it, locally and internationally! It could be a massive and well attended event, but only if you sort these basics out. Overall 'n great day out! Thanks to the organizers for all the hard work”

“Well organised event but there is room to improve - The event was overall very well organised and fun to participate in. My recommendations for further improvement is that the give aways like tees etc can be given together with the event pack to avoid the situation I experienced today where non-runners also crowded the place fighting to collect tees, caps and bags ahead of runners who are still out running. Secondly, it would be better to have everyone queue in an orderly manner when collecting the event giveaways and meal packs. ”

“Good experience - This year the marathon started just on time and that was good. the race circuit was excellent. The goody collection at the end of the race was chaotic. it could be much better organized. It would be also good if collection of the bibs is allowed starting the day before, this would minimise long queues on a day of race. Overall good experience and I certainly would participate again.”

“Organisation on the day shambolic - Need to be ready before the 5am start for number pick up Signage and directions for car parking non existent Crossing across runners at the end is a distraction for all runners Medal collection tee shirts other goodies very unclear and dreadful this is easy to organise in a flow through process do not mix up with bag collections no idea where finish water was to be collected from ”
