“Overall good, but that location.... - I like to start and finish triathlons at Atlantis but I hate to ride and run around it!that's personal.I have pretty good experience with MTB and offroad riding and I had to use all of it, but for riders that are not accustomed to turns, holes and bumps are challenging...Was the swim longer?was the bike longer?there were spots where we were literarily running close to the cars.I can accept to run on the sidewalk but on the road like that it was also challenging.Anyway I'll do it again! It was fun”

“A good well organised event - Good and very well organised event considering it had to be re-scheduled from originally planned date. Very impressive work on the re-scheduling. The bike course was rough though. Lots of bumps but i guess that's the nature of racing on the palm.”

Comment from Premier Online - 22.04.2015
“Somewhat surprised to see such a low rating for the online registration process. Ok so we're biased but it is currently the highest rated aspect (collectively) of the event; perhaps you noticed something no one else did? Perhaps you have a suggestion to improve the elements you didn't find to your liking? You can submit feedback through the Help Center button on the website; we look forward to hearing from you.”

“Excellent event - The Sprint competitors had to wait for quite a while until the start ... while the sun got hotter. I realize that the course can accommodate only a limited number of athletes at one time, hence the delay. Impressive location with plenty of marshals on the course.”

“Hot and fun - I found the bike course a little rough and the speed bumps were annoying. Run could be slightly more adventurous regarding the route but limited space to go anywhere. Overall a fun event and will be there next year.”

“Fantastic organisation, good location. - Fantastic organisation, easy course to follow, water stations well placed, good instructions from organisers, good medal and shirt. Maybe put the shirt in the goody bag or a different location as this caused congestion at the finish line. See you next year!”

“Great Tri Athlon for all ages! - Very good marshals, volunteers & support stations, great job to all! Great pack delivery idea on day of event on bike rack. Bike surface was bit bumpy and hilly (given it's the Palm) but could be due to new course by RTA & police. Nice medal and shirt as giveaway. Great support all the way! Great timing service and accurate. Recommended for all as a first tri for all! Keep up the good job RaceME, see you in Nov!”

Andy B. - 20.04.2015

“Great Venue, well organized, could be much better - Bike racking 2hr 45m before race start meant a long time waiting around. Not too difficult to split transition so early starters are not obstructed by later arrivals. Even a cup of coffee would have helped, no refreshments at all. Otherwise a really enjoyable event, great support over all the course.”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 20.04.2015
“Andy, we were restricted on the space available for transition so it was not possible to have 2 transitions. That also would have meant that the roads the bikers were using for Olympic race would have been full of Sprint arrivals which is also not ideal. We were unable to bring in outside food vendors to the venue but then we had no space to put them if we were allowed.”

“Great event, but the 8.45 start was too late - With the cycle, we had to do two laps, but after the last tunnel there was no signage, or marshals directing cyclists to go over the bridge. I was told to go right, which I did, and went into the parking lot before I realised I had been directed wrong. A few people had this this issue. The time for the sprint was very late in the day - people were running in 35 degree heat. The gap between olympic and sprint should have been shorter”

Mohamed R. - 20.04.2015

“Great Event - The time gap between bike transition closure and Sprint triathlon start time was too long (2 hours). It should be 30 mins to 1 hour max Having 3 consecutive tunnels in the bike part was too hard, as we were doing the tunnel both directions. there were no signs for distance each 1 or 2 km for bike and run parts. Only for the run at 4km. This is very important as for athletes who don't have watches and need to watch their pace and distance.”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 20.04.2015
“Mohamed, I am not sure where u felt that the support stations were not adequate. You crossed the water stations 4x on each run loop and there was one bike aid station every 11km. We thought long and hard about distance markers on the bike course but due to congestion on roads we saw them as more of a luxury than a necessity.”

“Great Event - Despite the enforced change of date the event was very well delivered Only comment being I was not impressed by the very extended period between bike racking and briefing before the start of the sprint race meaning a 5am arrival but still having to run as the heat of the day kicked in. I understand the reasoning but 2hrs 15mins between race brief and race start seem excessive. ”

“A good event but with room for improvement - The event needed better parking provision on arrival. Staggered transition areas/registration/early racking could also be arranged. It was a very early start in Dubai to be racked followed by 2 hours wait for the Sprint. No support station/water was made available prior to race start meaning Sprint distance athletes were left dehydrated prior the race. Although roads were not closed I was pleasantly surprised with the arrangements and apart from the speed bumps this went well.”

“Great location but the bike course is a mess - The swim is world class with perfect conditions. The bike is really dangerous and not enjoyable with lots of bumps, bad terrain and the bike course marshals "especially at the 2nd lap exit just before the bridge" was not great. The run course was fantastic with great aid stations. Overall it is a fantastic event, good organization but something needs to be done with bike course. Tricky one of course with no alternative bike route! ”

“Very popular and well organised tri on the palm - Team did a great job to reorganise the event following the bad weather at the start of the month. Thanks to all the volunteers for their kind words and support during the race!”

“Great Event - Wrong Swim Distance - The swim was supposed to be 1500m but was more like 2000m! ”

“Great venue, not so keen on the bike section - Very well organized and marshalled. It clearly takes a lot of effort and headaches putting this together, so thank you very much. The swim did seem longer than 750m but it was a great setting. The run was fine but I wasn't keen on the bike section mainly because of the poor quality road surface and numerous speed bumps. Not the organizer's fault but quite unpleasant in parts. Overall, very enjoyable though. Thanks again for putting it together.”

“Improve the course to make this a class event - Well organised overall. Bike course technical yes, and different, but 8 times through the tunnel and cobles/speed bumps is Paris-Roubaix indoors. Run far from iconic, was like running in a car park. Thanks for all the cold water on the course, appreciated. Understand all the RTA etc constraints, but to make this event a classic the course needs improvement. ”

“Great organization, unpleasant bike course - Too many humps and obstacles in the bike course make it unpleasant. The run is not soo good too since we were breathing the cars in column emissions. The organization was great.”

“Overall very enjoyable, good venue, good experienc - Swim seemed longer than 1.5 kms. Perhaps it was uphill! And I measured 44 kms on the bike. So longer yes, but everyone is doing the same distance. In summary, well done and thanks to the volunteers”

“Distances were not Olympic and results poor - The swim & bike course distances were much further than Olympic length which is unfair on the people that had trained for a specific distance. Some competitors dropped out after the bike leg as they were too exhausted. The results service was immensely poor & many competitors did not receive any results. The bike course was dire with four laps being incredibly repetitive and involving too many inclines, speed bumps and cobbled surfaces. It was the least enjoyable bike leg of this season's tris.”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 19.04.2015
“I am sure you can appreciate how difficult it is to have an "exact" bike course especially when a further course change was implemented by RTA less than 10 days out from the event. Re, the swim course, one of the buoys shifted overnight which we did not realise until we saw the swim times. Feel free to email to [email protected] if you wish to discuss your concerns.”

“Timings of the event were poor - I took part in the Men's Sprint. I had to get to the venue by 5:15. This was two and a half hours in advance of my start time. That, quite frankly is ridiculous. There is no reason why sprint contenders can't start 5-10 minutes after the Olympic contenders. Making us wait until 7:45 was a poor understanding of the participants preparation. The course was not accurately measured, with each of the events longer than billed. The swim was c. 900m. That is sloppy. I won't attend again.”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 19.04.2015
“We are very aware of the preparation required for all athletes. Having run two events already from The Palm, we have to make a number of decisions in order to give the athletes a safe event. The downside of starting the sprint earlier is that once people have finished they want to go home and hence clog the roads still being used by racing athletes. Much preparation goes into the planning and delivery of an event and 99% of entrants with Police, RTA,Venue etc to give the safest race. AF.”

“A great Race, not the best but close. - A great race, the swim was perfect and the best compared to other Tri comps, although I think it measured in at 1k instead of 750 but that’s fine. The cycle course is good although the double backs and speed bumps are a little tough to maneuver, I would say because of this TriYas and ITU are the better bike courses. The run is nice and flat but not all that visually stimulating and it is baking hot ! a better run that TriYas but not as good as ITU. The 2 hour gap between setup and the start of t”

“A good race that could be better - I enjoyed this race, however be warned those bumpy cobbles have cost me lost water bottles both times I have raced here! The only negative I have is that the start times for the sprint race were quite late and as a result we were both sat around for two hours between racking our bikes and racing in quite hot weather. The lack of any refreshment stand or catering was also very disappointing given the wait between racking and our wave start.”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 19.04.2015
“Lisa, It was not possible to allow sprint entrants to rack their bikes later as the Olympic race would have been in progress. Also allowing to rack the night before would have meant the sprint entrants would be driving to the venue when the Olympic race was on causing extra unnecessary traffic when we aim to keep the roads as clear as possible. Agreed on the refreshment/catering comment but seriously our space was so limited after we had to move venue from Aquaventure parking to Nasimi Beach. AF”

“Extremely well organized! - This event was extremely well organized- thanks for a great race! Fun swim course. I was nervous about the bike but the army of volunteers along the course made it safe. The run was hot but ice cold water was available at the water breaks and that made all the difference. The only suggestion I have is to put the race shirts in the goody bag instead of having people wait in line at the end. Thank you for a fantastic event!”

“Great event. Tough bike course - It was my first time in this event and its a great one. I came early so i didnt have parking issues. Great to have very cold water in water station. Nice and helpful marshalls. Only negative point for me was the bike course. Some parts were paved and other parts had bumpers. Also, my watch showed a total of 43kms ; dont know if that was correct or not.”

“Great organisation, average course - Everything was great except one thing: the bike course. Too many bumpers, too many loops, paved road on the crescent... i know it's not easy to find and get access to better courses on the roads in Dubai, but i am unlikely to participate again if the course means going up and down the palm crescent and trunk. Thanks for the organisation and all the rest though, it was top notch.”

“Tri .....nice but .... - Tri without proper timing system is like a coffee shop without coffee, I would rather pay a bit more but have that aspect covered.”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 18.04.2015
“I am a little unsure what you are referencing with regards to a proper timing system plus a rating of only 20%. We had three chip timing points which allowed us to collect the splits as you enter and leave transition plus at the finish. The provisional results were posted online yesterday afternoon. Today they are being checked as there are always anomalies when lap courses are involved. Maybe send me an email to [email protected] to address your concerns. Thx Andy.”

“Organised Like a Swiss Watch - Well done RaceME. Very slick operation given the difficulty of holding the race on the palm, which is not easy to get around on the roads. OK, the parking was a little bit of a pain and if you didn't arrive early the further away you would have had to park, but that was the only issue. The whole event was super and organised like a Swiss watch. The bike course was very tough but not enjoyable, but that is a personal point. Swim was very nice even though it was 1850m. All in all a "great" race.”

“Awesome event, very well organized - A great race, well done to all those who organized. The best Triathlon I have done in Dubai in terms of organization, marshaling, water stops and race pack pick up. Very detailed race briefing. Looking forward to completing in next years events with Race ME! :-)))”

“Great event organization - Really impressed with the organization, support, and the number of marshalls, police, and volunteers who really did an impressive job with the coordination - very very good: THANK YOU. The difficult bit for me was the wait between racking area being closed and my wave start, which for us in the sprint distance meant having to wait 2 hours, without the flexibility to go back in to drop phones, earphones, or other things one could do during the wait...but hey, more time to cheer the others! ;)”

“Absolutely loved it - All problems there were were unavoidable like road surface and the stony water at the beach. It was a fantastic event and I loved having hills on the bike as part of the race, makes it more fun! Race.ME bottles were a nice touch and why on earth were there teabags in my race pack?”
