“Better track for better race - The raceheld at the same day of the camel race which was a bit risky and dangerous specially the runners shared the same track of the landcruisers and for sure the drivers were concentrating woth their own camels and for sure not paying attention for who those running in front of them and sharing the same track unless we started to wave with our hands to keep ourselves safe!”

“Thx for the comments Daniel. As you can imagine it has been an extremely frustrating exercise in having to make last minute changes. Even though there was no "official" camel races on the Saturday I was informed at 5pm on Friday (when setting up) that an "un-official" club race would be held. Combine this with the road works which popped up before the last race and I was forced to make some course changes. Safety is a paramount issue for me at all times.”

“Another enjoyable event, thanks - Great to know that the organisers are able to provide such a safe facility even with the unexpected changes enforced on them....although how they always manage to select an out and back cycle course with 75% exposure to a headwind is miraculous!! Another enjoyable event, thanks”

“Another Great Event - This is only my second Duathlon and both have been at the GIANT series with these guys. It's a great way to either start Duathlons with a great bunch of people (as i have just done) or to push yourself to the limit with some of the increased distance races Its even fun dodging some of the camel racing support Land Cruisers running along the track, but even they support us and have a good time willing us on! Lets get more people on the track and into Duathlons! Its a great start to the day! Well done guys!”

“Great way to introduce kids to take up a challenge - Overall it was a good event. The start for the kids race could have been done earlier, however fully appreciate and understand that safety of kids was given top priority. Need to have clear markers in place - The 1st run was more than 1Km and the 2nd run should have had a Marshall at the .5km point telling kids to turn around.”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 12.02.2014
“The original start time of 10:45am was set to ensure that the flow of the events worked well and the lag time between the end of a race and the prize draw at the end was not a long time. My apologies for the confusion on the kid run course and I stick my hand up and say we stuffed up on that one. Firstly the cone was put in the wrong place and my marshal mis-understood my instructions. We shortened the 2nd run to compensate. Sorry.”

“Great fun, v poor marshalling at end of cycle leg - I think there was a general feeling that everyone kind of knew where they should be going as it was race 5 and many people had been involved in the first 4. However for a newbie, a little chaotic from the marshalling perspective, particularly when I came back from the cycle leg, I was a bit disoriented and didn't know where to set off for the second run. The kids race too was messed up by marshalling and my kid was too knackered to run again after running 2k and then the cycle instead of 1.”

“Great race but smaller field than usual - I think there may have been too many different race distances on for this event as there were only 20ish in the main event. Great to see the media there. Added to a great at”

“Fantastic, fun & family orientated duathlon - This has been a great series for getting us out as a family & to introduce the kids to duathlons. Nice having the start point in the carpark area as it meant the kids had plenty of space to stay out of the runners/cyclists/camel racers way & for us parents to not be too concerned about safety, although meant a bit more too'ing & fro'ing & less people cheering for the long race finishers. Marshalling might need a bit better communication in future but Andy sorted this out for the 2nd part of the kids run so the kids didn't run further than planned. All in all a fun family day out! We'll be back - absolutely!”

“No frills racing with a friendly bunch. - Nice event. I wasn't expecting to share the run course with a convoy of Land Cruisers but thankfully there were no problems. I found the course to be very dull but the event itself seem to be very well organised. Thank you.”

“The venue was chosen for its relatively traffic free environment compared to public roads which is a huge attraction when it comes to the kids events. Unfortunately I was only informed of a last minute camel race the night before the Duathlon and had to make course changes at the 11th hour. We have certainly faced many challenges with this series with roads being dug up etc but I always have backup plans. Glad you enjoyed the event. Andy.”

“Nice, however to be improved - Nice race for the kids. Although start of the race for the under 12 should have been better. Also the first run should have been managed better as they went too far due to the marshall. For event giveaways, it would be nice to have something for the kids, not a standard one for all which turns out to be for the adults only. All in all my son had a great time and can't wait to do it again.”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 09.02.2014
“The decision to delay the start of the kids race was made for safety reasons as a last minute camel race was scheduled on the same course planned for the kids duathlon. If the race had started on time then the kids would have started in the same place as all other entrants but because the finishers had already finishing I had to change the start point. My apologies for the longer first run (Misunderstanding with marshal sorry)....we compensated by making the second run shorter. ”

“Good Race - Bit lonely at the turn point of the last run. Great to see a camel truck taking a rider home with her punctured bike. Really great atmosphere at this venue. Lovely cheering supporters at the end. Thank you”
