“Good - Good event ”

“Good event needs some improvements - Two suggestions; more aid stations - there was only one station at the turnaround Need to block off at least one lane from all cars so no traffic can mingle with bikes. Coming off bridge past British Club to intersection before Corniche there were cars in all the lanes. this is dangerous.”

“Excellent - Feedback accurately covered by other participants - Loved the event from the moment I arrived at Nation Towers at 5am until the time I left after the presentations and breakfast party around 11am approx. The wind was a major factor and challenge for most on the return, but lots of very friendly supportive and encouraging cyclists from start to finish, sadly some crashes, some breakdowns, etc and some very unprofessional behaviour by certain ''elite'' individuals after the race. Embarrassment.”

“Starting times - Only one problem, the Elite juniors timing was incorrect, due to miscommunication. On the e-mail the elite juniors had a different timing and on the day they where called to start with the elite men, where some started with them and the other elite juniors started after the open men. ”

“A good event but room for improvement - The usual GMS good organisation. The route (that which I saw) was good although we were all a bit shocked to suddenly be joined by traffic on the highway just before the turn. I had a crash just after the turn which resulted in me being taken to hospital (not traffic related). Thankfully one of the event ambulances was following our group and I was scooped straight off the road. I echo the calls for more marshals. I know they were looking for help but there was some route confusion in the group”

“Challenging (wind) an memorable. - As events go this was efficient and managed well. My only comments relate to: - medals, appreciate that for economic reasons the 'gong' will be standard but would be good to have a different coloured ribbon to differentiate each race? - same as Race 1 there were photographers dotted around the course but I have seen no way of viewing and downloading, have I missed something? ”

“Great event - The positive: communication about the event, organisation, support, the course, after race catering (excellent!!) Room for improvement: given the number of male entrants compared with female, providing 2 male and 2 female toilets was inadequate. The ladies were very amused to find that the usual long long situation was reversed. Facilities should be in proportion to number of users. Room for improvement: there are currently no age divisions. Can these be introduced?”

“Good overall event - A very well handled event, good communication and flawless race pack pick up. good course but did not see any water stations etc.. on route but the feast supplied at the finish was a very welcome surprise. Thanks to the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Government, Police and race organizers for a very pleasurable event.”

“A very fast, challenging and fun race - Very nice route. Some intersections and sections of the route felt dangerous as it wasnt obvious who had right of way. The buffet and race village area afterwards was amazing.”

“No Communication about the Final Cut-Off Timing - The over-all cut-off time was very bad. No proper communication. You have no idea what is happening on the actual road race. With a strong Head Winds during the race & after the 40KM mark, it is very difficult for riders to ride in a min 30KM/hr. Worst part, the road was opened to traffic when most riders are just reaching the 30KM mark. It is very dangerous! You should have organize this race only for Elite riders. NOTE: The after race refreshment was improved than last year.”

“Good event. Could improve marshalling. - I think the event overall was a success. The course was good. the registration and pre and post event stuff are generally good. the challenge is the marshaling. Given UAE drivers this is the key area of concern.”

“A great event spoilt by the traffic. - The road marking to educate drivers was non-existent. To open the roads to the public at NYU was not detailed in the event advertising, which proved to very dangerous, this forced all cyclists top ride in the hard shoulder, which was full of debris. ”

“Broken promises - Please never, ever write about safe environment and blocked roads, when we have after 48 minutes traffic at E-12 around Saadiyat, Yas and The way back to finish line. ”

“Yes great experience - I wish, next event will have bus pick point bus here, somewhere in abudhabi cornice thanks.”

“Enjoyable - Enjoyed this event - it was well organized and the breakfast area was perfect. The course was good and the riders I was with were very conscious of group safety which was great … the police made us stop and wait for a light change which was a bit unexpected, but no big deal. Hope the race is repeated.”

“Good hard race - need more practise... - The race itself was well organised but more Marshals/support vehicles could have been a little better. At one slip road on the return journey, I saw two police vehicles at the top and I thought that was the route, but it was not and another rider corrected me. Some riders were unhappy about being removed from the race despite reaching the half way mark in the allotted time. A good ride, but killer wind on the the return. Post ride breakfast was great.”

“A great challenge and had fun. Very worthy! - More marshals and better signage of the roads, especially as you were unable to close most of the routes with cars driving by, think more volunteers should have been there to watch and control some of the junctions/slip roads. Also at traffic lights. Fantastic ride and really enjoyed it! ”

“Good race and challanging wind - I'm used to a slightly different. the elite starts last and there is no different group start for men and women. It is hard for the women to start last and there is a high probability that they will be riding alone, which is very hard on new competitors. ”

“Everything was graet specially the food - I was realy enjoyed the facilites and will organized... the main thing I was really satisfied is because my family enjoyed with the food/refreshment they are much entertained I really appreciated. I can call this event as cycle race & fun for family... I hope next event will have the same setup & my family will agin enjoyed. Thanks to all staff, organizers in this event. More power... “Well organized, not suitable for beginners - Good Race, not enough road assistance especially during emergency. have seen couple of spill. In general a good event. good influence to live a healthy live. Thanks for the organizer. ”

“Thank you volunteers, organisers and sponsors - Bravo for bring this event to Abu Dhabi. The course is well known to be challenging. As middle of the road finisher, I felt adequately protected from traffic. But the organisers should consider that there are irresponsible drivers on the roads and urge the Police to be vigilant (the two petrol station exits where unattended). Shocked to here about the unacceptable behaviour of some Elite riders, I hope the perpetrators are sanctioned appropriately by the authorities and Sports Council.”

“Tough race with a lot of traffic on the course - Tough race as it was pretty windy but I will not be taking part again unless the advertised rolling road closures can be guaranteed. Once out of Abu Dhabi, there was a lot of traffic to contend with and no police presence for any other than the front riders. Nowhere did it say that there was a three hour time limit and many were disappointed to have to get in the bus despite making the turnaround cut off.”

“Not enough organization - Thank u for the support and preparation at registration. But during the course ... Very little directions , increasing traffic, and the premature removal from the course was a downer from my side. No communication was there that we were limited to 3 hrs to complete , but even then removing cyclists with still 1 hr to go for the race was not a nice thing to experience. I hope next time it will be better. Thank u again for all the effort . ”

“More of a tester - Organisation was spot on although "inspection" was too strong a word for what occurred. My bike had 2 wheels - end of! Wind made the return leg a bit emotional but the run down the Corniche made up for it. Another great event.”
