This edition marks 27 years since John Gregory, led a total of 80 hardy souls running in relay teams from RAK adjacent the Arabian Gulf through the dramatic Wadi Bih before climbing to over 1000m and descending to Dibba via a dramatic narrow gorge to the stunning trajectory of the mountains with the Gulf of Oman. The high mountains and rugged wild terrain give the event a unique flavor and make it one of the most popular sporting events in the region.

Unlike previous editions, this event is only for 1 day - Friday, 1st February 2019.
All races shall take place on Friday itself.

Team relay: In order to be eligible to prizes, each team must comprise of 5 runners with at least 1 female runner.
4 runners shall complete the first and last stage and individual runners the other stages.
The route is marked by stage markers and the teams own support vehicle transports the other team members along the route. It is a must for teams to have a 4 x 4 vehicle.
Team 72 and 50 Km runs take place on Friday with Team 50 Km run being open to all and is especially intended for new runners, families or school groups with children aged 9-17 years.

Solo run: Individuals can run the full route of 72km or opt to do shorter routes of 50km or 30km.

Canyon 50 - 5:00 AM
Zighy 30 - 5:30 AM
Team 72Km and 50Km - 6:00 AM onwards

For all categories, the run will start at the Golden Tulip hotel in Dibba and follow the tortuous winding wadi to a high point in the mountains before returning to the beach. The team 72 and solo 72 runs are out and back up to an altitude of 1000m ASL with a total distance of 72K. The high mountains and rugged wild terrain give the event a unique flavour and make it one of the most popular sporting events in the region.
