The Adventure HQ AR Series is made up of 6 races over the 2021/ 2022 season and is open to individual competitors and teams of 4. Competitors will earn points at each race to decide the series champions. The Khor Fakkan Adventure Race is the first race in the series.

Using a map and compass, competitors will have to navigate across mountains, through water and over various terrains using mountain biking, trail running, hiking, swimming and kayaking to find various checkpoints. One person is allowed as a support crew who will assist competitors. Download the competitors race brief for all the information, race rules and regulations.

The official competitors handbook will be given to competitors on race day an hour before the race during the competitors lockdown period where competitors will receive the coordinates for the different checkpoints.

  • Do I need to be an experienced adventure racer to enter?

    No, the event is designed for novices and experienced AR competitors, but a good level of fitness in all the disciplines will be required.

  • Do I need a first aid certificate to enter?

    As a minimum, an online basic first aid certificate is required. A link to an online course is included in the race briefing which can be downloaded on the website. A professional first aid course can be booked through Mantra Adventures.

  • Do I need medical insurance to enter the race?

    Yes.

  • Will I have to supply my own map and compass?

    Maps will be provided on race day but competitors will need to bring their own compasses.

  • Do I have to supply my own backpack?

    Yes, as a minimum requirement we recommend a 20L bag.

  • Do I have to supply my own equipment?

    Competitors need to bring their own mountain bikes, but mountain bikes can be hired. Please contact Mantra Adventures at [email protected] to arrange. Kayaks, paddles, life jackets and helmets will be provided. Competitors are welcome to bring their own kayaks, canoes, surfskis or SUP boards.

  • Will there be water stations on the route?

    Competitors will need to provide their own water and preferred drinks which they will carry with them during the race.

  • Do I need a first aid kit?

    Yes, all competitors must carry a first aid kit with them. The basic requirements are stipulated in the race briefing document. Teams only need to carry one first aid kit with them but must ensure that they have enough supplies for more than one person.

  • What are the disciplines for the different legs of the race?

    Swimming, Kayaking, Mountain Biking, Trail Running/ Hiking and Mountaineering (Possible Abseil and Rope Traverse).

    Distances: 1.2KM SWIM + 1.5KM KAYAK + 10KM TRAIL HIKE/RUN + 25KM MOUNTAIN BIKE
