“Not the best - I have been participating in the ADCB runs for a couple of years now and unfortunately this one was a disappointment in comparison. While I appreciate that no one can control the hot weather, it was rather shocking to know that the organisers ran out of water when we most needed it! I struggled to continue the race and had to walk half of it. Another disappointment was the attitude of a particular organiser whom I know is a great guy but it seems he was under stress knowing there are 500+ participants. But in the future, when a runner hasn't heard you properly and is trying to clarify what you said, taking a look at them and suggesting you know the time they need to finish the race can be very offensive. So please do convey the message to the Abu Dhabi Striders team. We are all there for a positive spirit rather than a judgemental one. Thanks! ”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 17.10.2013
“Thanks for your feedback, we make no excuses for Steve and he humbly apologies if you feel he was judgemental. he was up literally all night resetting the course ( as access was not available until after10pm). There was plenty of water as cartons kept coming out and water was sitting on the refreshment stand when everyone left.one of the most pressing matters with events like this is the amount of people who try and register late and or turn up on the day and expect be able to run”

“I can run very comfortably. - In this marathon, I can run very comfortably. The distance of a start and the goal being near to a parking lot. I was able to enjoy drink and the food after the race enough, too. All the staff is kind. ”

“ZSC 10k Run - Great race and fun day! It would be better though if the music was different and if there were rubbish bins to throw the used water bottles. The cleaner doesn't have to bend his back if there are rubbish bins nearby. Otherwise, everything else was perfect and well organized. Many thanks to the volunteers.”

“Good fun for a good cause - A really good morning, well organised with little to no stress. Pleased the Juniors got trophy's this time. Medals are always above the norm too. Keep up the good work. Appreciated the Breast Cancer talk at the awards ceremony. Hits home why we are running. Thanks. ”

“Great beginning of the season run! - I am so happy we didn't run through the tennis stadium track! Yah! There was one person handing out water around 3k mark. However, he positioned himself too far off to the side that he made it inconvenient to grab water!”

“Very impressed! Will do it again! - It was my first time and I was really impressed with everything! Nice atmosphere once there, great and clear organisation and I was happily surprised with the photos few days after the event! I had none to take pics on that day and it's a great service you're providing! My next race is in November and I'm really looking forward to that! thanks to all the organisers!”

“Great day, good vibe, super cause - What happened to the best dressed prize? Some racers went to a lot of effort... Emails prior to the rest suggested a prize... Not that that was what the event was about, but it would have kept with the great buzz that was there! :)”

“Great job! - I would like to thank all the volunteers who were there to guide the runners, provide them with water and everything. And thanx for everyone who cheered. Thanx for the organizers and the sponsors for supporting the awareness of breast cancer. ”

“A good workout before Friday Brunch - A good event as usual. Nice pink shirts not same quality of other Striders runs. Markings (by km) could be more frequent and clearer. Great atmosphere!. I'll be back!”

“No routing at finish line - No medals for me race was awful Breakfast was poor No stretching session before or after course to prevent any future injuries ”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 13.10.2013
“Hi, Thanks for your feedback. not sure why you wouldn't get a medal given there were plenty left over. There were refreshments available post race. Without knowing your name (please email us directly - [email protected]) we can take up the discussion on the post race breakfast in the club house. For stretching etc that is really a personal pre run and post run requirement. Please remember this is a community event with one and everyone involved in the event doing it as volunteers. ”

“Badly organised - Very badly organised - worst I've ever experienced in any country! This was my first race in a long time and I was hoping for a great experience. Unfortunately it wasn't to be. At the start most people complained they could not hear the race briefing. The announcements were terrible. People couldn't hear. Some inexperienced 5km runners started running with the 10km runners as nobody heard any details being told on the speaker. Some 5km runners even started running when the test starter gun went off and were shouted at to come back and start again. Terrible planning and organisation. One water station at 2.5 kms was ridiculous. A lot of people were very dehyrated and a lot of inexperienced and experienced runners were throwing up throughout the course. Also, there were a lot of Indian men along the course staring and shouting at the women passing and blocked the course when we were trying to run on the course. This was very intimidating and scary. A lot of the women were upset over this that were running in my group. Another upsetting thing was the 5km runners were told to stay on the left and the 10km runners would stay on the right of the course. However, along the race the cyclist with the fastest male runner suddenly cycled by screaming at all of us thatwe were to 'move now, move.Get out of the way NOW!!' Eventhough everyone was at the very left of the track and well out of the way as we were told to be! Nobody appreciated being roared at and being treated so aggressively. It's not on. Nobody signed up for a breast cancer run to be treated like this. Obviously whoever organised this event certainly did not give everybody involved correct information as to the running of it. The runners suffered as a result. Furthermore, there were no obvious kilometer markers. This is basic in any race. When we asked the marshals for the distance only one, at kilometer 4 could actually tell us what checkpoint we were at. This was very poor indeed. I've been a marshal on many occassions and always had race information at the ready for the competitors. That's basic. Overall it wasn't a very pleasant experience. Very simple and basic organisation was most certainly overlooked and lead to a disappointing race for most I've spoken to about it. ”

“Great event! - Well organised as ever except for the temporary running out of water at the finish. I know more water arrived after some time, but crossing the finish line after the hottest, most humid 10km I had ever done, all I wanted was water and there wasn't any!”

“5k Boondoggle - Overall I loved this event but the 5k start was quite the boodoggle... the "false" start a minute before the real start... then the leaders taking off in the wrong direction (why was there no signage or marshal there diverting/ holding the car that was directly in our path?) And would it be possible to have the children NOT be starting right at the front? Reserve it for the sub-20 minute runners, please. And then you had the 2nd and 3rd place guys on the 5k cutting corners (massively) to try to make up distance.. I understand being upset about taking the wrong route, but no need to cheat by arbitrarily cutting corners, boys!! There were no marshalls in this part of the course (before 1km mark) to observe this, but in my opinion, they should be disqualified. I know it's a fun race, but let's see some good sportsmanship, please! Lastly, would it be so much extra trouble to put 2k and 3k markers along the course? (or 2.5, at a minimum?) Again, overall I love the energy, fun and organization of the ZSC runs and had a great time, but there were a few things that could make it go better!”

“A great start of the season!! - Maybe water stands should be available towards the end of the race between 7 and 8km. Also more quantity as they ran out towards the end of the race. All in all a good organization and lots of volunteers. Keep up the good work.”

“Where's my saucony running jersey? - Not a bad race but I was expecting a proper Saucony running jersey as given out in previous events, a bit of a disappointment. Was Saucony not one of the event's sponsors? Should have been an extra water station or two for the humid morning that was in it! Also perhaps better to do presentations in the shade, the poor WWE fella was sweating buckets.”

“Overall great but please don't run out of water! - Great organization, few improvement opportunities: Please have a better PA system for Steve to give us the intro speech Water ran out before all had completed the race! Music from Healthpoint was a downer rather than a picker-upper Thanks for all, it's great what AD Striders does for the small runner community in Abu Dhabi ”

“Nice race, well organised overall - My only criticism is that the race definitely either needs more people at the aid stations or just lay out the drinks on tables to allow the runners to pick them up as they run by. The poor guy at the 2.5km aid station was already run of his feet and I was in the top 15 so he must have been really struggling when the main body of the race went through. I would also prefer trophies for the 10km run rather than the prices nice though they were. I spoke to some of the other podium people and they all said the same thing. A very nice race though and I mean these comments constructively to improve the event overall and not taken as complaints :-)”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 11.10.2013
“Hi Murali, thanks for your feedback, we actually didn't run out of water there was plenty left at the refreshment tent, it just happened that more people hang around the finish zone. We have taken on board your comment and will do our best in the future. We were also a little light on with volunteers and/or helpers. Hopefully you can encourage friends to come down and help out at the next event ”

“A good event, generally well organized - Personally I think the new course is much better than the usual one set before. My one and only comment is that there we not enough water stations, The two were not manned well, although the lads tried their best to hand out the cups. Suggest at least another station with a long table where the runners can pick up the water themselves rather than have it handed to them. a lot of us missed the pick up as the lad only had one pair of hands! thanks to him though for trying his best. Well done to the organizers - the presentation area was really nice. Look forward to the next run. ”

“Awesome Job AD Striders! - This race keeps getting bigger and better. I think it helped that ZSC was also hosting the WWE this weekend, as that made for more people watching us, and more bathroom facilities. The facilities that are usually available in Haddins Gym are way too small for 500 runners. As usual a great day for a great run. I am definitely looking forward to the half marathon next month!”

“Great event - pink shirts weren't very breathable - Good course considering wrestling using the stadium, well organised, would have been nice to have an extra water station and/or larger water bottles. Pink shirts good quality .... But not breathable so just became heavy - better for colder climates !!!”

“Nice run - Nice run, good fast course, if a little hot (but doubt the organisers can control that). Only improvement would be a bit more notice for the water at halfway through the lap- almost missed it the 1st time round.”

“No bag storage; couldn't run - I arrived at the race in a taxi (I do not own a car) and I had my bags to go to work but there was no place to store my things so I left without running -- very disappointing. Heard several other people asking about bag storage”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 11.10.2013
“Kate, very sorry and disappointed to hear this. I would have gladly taken the stuff and put in my office at the venue. The race briefing document emailed out earlier in the week did state there was not lockable bag storage for this race given the confines with Please ping me an email , [email protected] .... Hopefully we can make up for it ”
