“Participated in 1st Desert Warrior Challenge in Dubai & 1st Spartan Sprint in Dubai. DWC was well done for 1st event. For Spartan: was disappointed by quality of obstacles, particularly given international brand/franchise. As such, I place DWC as UAE reference for such events. W.A.R. 10 met this & delivered superior venue experience.
Highly recommend W.A.R. to families too. Highly positive environment & very well executed activity.
Idea: consideration in obstacle design for shorter people”
“Overall awesome event. Planning to do it again and again. I registered for the 10k run and when i found out that I would be doing the obstacles twice and running in a loop I changed to 5k, which was a great decision. I think 15k was too long and repeating the obstacles was boring.”
“1. Did not informed that you have to pay for locker in separate counter.
2. warming up was poor to compare with previous race
3. worth food
4. the quantity of obstacles has been reduced ((((
so, the format of one lap is much more interesting rather than two or three laps with the same obstacles
5. on the top of that price for participation has been increased ”
“Didn't like the double loop although enjoyed the extra, well-made obstacles.
Having the barb-wire crawl at the beginning is a terrible idea. Didn't enjoy having sand and rocks in my shoes for the entirety of the race.
Was surprised with the race pack and lack of free-bees being handed out considering how good they have all been in the past. My pack didn't even have a first aid kit in it, which were in my friends packs.
Still fun though.”
“I really enjoyed the race with amazing organisation and a challenging course”
“Very challenging course, great segregation for three categories 5k/10k/15k which gives the contestants more opportunity to compete within their waves. However, the awards needs to be revised and give more things like cash award or.... so you can increase the level of the participants. Also, during the course i highly recommend to put distance signs every 1km so the participants can get a better vision for the finished and remaining distance. Thanks ”
“The Blue Container Obstacle - The Ropes have to be all around the container as they were tied to both the corners, many happen to nearly slip (especially since the ropes were tight and we couldn't place our feet for support). I slipped 3 times there.
I wasn't aware how much more distance was left to cover, so I didn't put in my best. It would be great to know how many kms are left via sign boards. ”
“My 2 biggest complaints are both venue related; 1) the bathrooms were poor indeed - no toilet paper pre-race is simply unacceptable. We don't all like to wash our rear ends with a shatuf only! 2) the locker system is absolutely ridiculous - one guy with a card trying to open and close 200 lockers. Plain stupid; sort it out!
Otherwise a great race and thoroughly enjoyed it.”
“Expensive, wish it could be cheaper for many more eople to aford. ”
“I was really impressed with the organization of the event... hard to find something this well organized in the UAE”
“The course was very tough although it was only 5k but it was a killer. I did the 15k so it kind of got boring by the third lap. I think you should go back to the 10k and add a 5k for those who want the 15k.”
I did not like the fact that the 10&15km where a repitition loop. This makes it boring an know of quite a few people who enrolled for 10km, but decided to quit after 1 loop for this reason. I also thought that the obstickes became VERY congested after the 5 km runners joined in! I would also suggest that the slower runners or 5km participants start an hour earlier and complete the race before the more fit 10km and 15km runners join the race”
“I suggest obstacle size (walls) should accommodate women and those less able.
The course was more challenging but excellent with more obstacles.”
“Need more support stations and perhaps a more early start. It was extremely hot for a 9.30 started ”
“Participants signing up for an obstacle race that the proceed to run past obstacles in order to achieve a better time. They should be disqualified. ”
“Glad to see that the obstacles are getting a bit harder... some of them needs to be changed, like the tires in the container, total waste of time, not remotely challenging. I agree with the previous comment regarding the monkey bars after a water obstacle is misplaced.”
“The course was very crowded this time (New format does not work well). Injured people along the course had to hobble a long way before reaching help, even if marshals got informed. Race start time email CONFUSING to say the least. Emails from Premier Online to rate race and check results freaked us out (Thought we missed race). Removing kids area from site makes it harder to entertain kids while racing. Why do medals not show different distances?
After racing this race for 2 years we are done:(”
“1. It was a good idea to run in laps. in this way there were more obstacles.
2. The monkey bar should not be after a water obstacle.
3. The race must be categorized by age, at lest 3 categories (18-30 , 30 - 40 and over 40).
4. I have participated 7 times in this great race. Every time it is better. Keep going.”

“Again a fantastic event organised by the WAR Team. Well run and organised and great to get the support from the Marshalls round the course. Really good to see some new obstacles on the course and I thought the repeated loops worked really well. Just glad I opted for the 10k not 15k as it was much tougher than the previous WARs.
Thanks again guys and see you on 16 Jan 2016 for more pain and giggles....
PS - I didn't miss the sandbags.... ”
“A really fun event that I will be participating in again, the only improvements in my mind is that they should include locker hire as part of the entry fee, and the photographs taken should be available online too. But a really great event that I would recommend for everyone to join”
“The race was well organized and the marshalls were good at yelling encouragement, providing a helping hand, and in monitoring safety. Very well done. An interesting course that provided some good variety of obstacles.
Room for improvement - there was a lot of waiting before the start. If you arrived when it was recommended, there was at least an hour of waiting. Also, it doesn't make sense to have monkey bars and other "grip" features after the water obstacles - way too slippery. Thanks!”
“Do not put monkey bar after swimming part
Mix the walls and ladders during the track (too many one after the other at the end of course)”
“Really happy about the addition of the 15 and 5km formats, but would like it if there was something different than a 5km loop. While it was really well done and very well thought out especially with that awesome cool down ice hole a bit of variation for the longest run would be even more fun. This is not a criticism, it is just a comment. Very well done!!!! see you next time. ”
“My only suggestion would be....move the water stations after an obstacle.
The water stations were too close before an obstacle - so you only had a chance for a little sip and then had to throw bottle >3/4 full away whilst you completed the obstacle - and were then thirsty whilst running to next obstacle.
If the stations were placed after each obstacle you would be able to carry your bottle with you whilst running. ”
“Really good race, well organised and great fun over the course. Stewards were very helpful.
One recommendation: the lockers only had one guy to open/close them which was not enough and meant long ques. There needs to be more people on the lockers.”
“I thought the event was great, support and communication was very prompt and I had a wonderful experience.
I ran the 5k and I think that the addition of that lengthmade it a good experience just for fun.
I will definitely be there for WAR 11
“Once again Wadi Adventure has put on a fantastic race.
The new 5Km lap format was tougher than ever, the timing and starting of the different waves worked really well and I did not have any trouble with congestion at obstacles at all like I expected.
The only problem I faced was that several of the obstacles were really wet and slippery on the first lap because of the ordering but they dried out on the second lap. The monkey bars and quarter pipe were the worst.
Great new format! Well done”
“No one seemed to know what they were doing at the beginning; there was no music at the start to get you going; too many runners were on the course at once.
The numerous loops to make up the 10 and 15k were repetitive and boring; When we came to do the second loop, many people didnt know where to go!”
“Had a lot of fun, glad i came out even though all my friends bailed. Will definitely do the next one”
“It was an overall a great race. Just disappointed that people didn't do the obstacles and just ran the whole race, passing ever obstacle, which made them win. I saw a lot of people cheating in terms of cutting corners when marshals were not looking. So if your racing and completing every obstacle you can guarantee you won't come in the top 10.”
“The lay out was great! The only issue I had was the lady at the finish line. She stood in the middle and pointed toward the stairs and said 5k finish that way. There was a few of us that followed since we were exhausted and not really paying attention after the final wall. It took 3 to 4 minutes to figure out that she had misguided us. Some went as far as the front of the event to find out that we went the wrong way! Maybe a guide rope for the finish is needed in order to keep racers in line. ”
“Thank you very much. I did WAR6 and this is a big improvement. I would reccomend in future both a 5 km loop and 10 km loop. Psycologically it was very difficult having done the first five kms and thinking you had to repeat. It was very upper body challenging and short people struggled with the high walls and 2 rope over the Wadi challenge. Perhaps have ropes for the shorter ladies closer to each other for this challenge. Other than this it was amazing to be tested physically. Well done!!”
