“This was an excellent event; very well organised,a very challenging route and overall a great atmosphere.
The collection of the event pack was a bit of a pain but other than that everything went very smoothly.
The results are difficult to read on the downloaded PDF and it would be nice to have the overall time for everyone rather than just the top 3 but all in all, a very well organised event and a route which obviously took some time to recce and set out.
Huge congratulations to the winners and also to the Urban Ultra team.”
“The race course was quite tough but the scenery was breathtaking. The race was organized with lots of love for the sport, the athletes and the landscape. Million thanks to the ladies for making this event extraordinary and fun.
All in all an overwhelming weekend. I definitely will be back for more. ”
“Great location; organisers helpful; definitely do it next year; ”
“Great job all in all for the organization of this event.
It's a hard course but ultimately rewarding with nice dunes all around. Bigger and more flags would definitely help in keeping to the right track, more reflectors during the night course will keep us on track. A big sign that splits the 10 and 20km runs specially for the night run where we missed it :(
Goody bag could be picked up anywhere else more convenient or event at the day of the event.
Also why not start at 6:30am/pm since for the night run it is already dark enough (also means more time for camping activities) and for the morning run it is not as hot towards the finish line.
It would be nice to have portable toilets available, and why not a huge bon fire for common warmth, cooking and reunion with the teams.
Congratulations to the Urban Ultra ladies for organizing a first rate event !”
“Tough but very rewarding. Very well organised”
“Amazing race, amazing course, great organization, unique experience.
Some minor development areas would be to add another support station on the 10K point and highlight the 10/20k turning point in a clearer fashion.
I truly believe that this kind of race should be the flagship of UAE races since it reflects the true and unique geography of the country with its fauna and flora. Many thanks Louise and Patricia for puting this race together
“Great event! Kudos to Urban Ultra!
Would be great to have a distance marker along the route.
Winner by age group?”
“Just quick note to say big thank you for an amazing time!
The route was beautiful , challenging but not impossible - the perfect mix. A tip for next time is everyone loves a souvenir t-shirt (although I do love the cup!) and I would have a marshal on the split 10k-20k on the night run as one of my camping colleagues took the wrong one! :-) But those are just little things and I really had a lovely time, you were all very supportive and there was really nice feel to the whole event. Thank you again for a good challenge and I look forward to the next one!!”
“This race was well organized and managed. The Urban-Ultra staff were knowledgeable, friendly and super helpful! The information packets were sent out in a timely manner and very helpful in getting prepared for the race. Maps, directions and instructions were all accurate. The actual race days were awesome! Awesome and unique course paired with a fun night of camping! Will DEFNITELY participate again next year. ”
“Organizers were fantastic, what a cool bunch. Only issue was navigation, lots of the course flags had blown over so going off course was a little too easy, but hey, it added to the madness.....”
“Loved it...the only thing that I can suggest is that it would have been nice to have had a big camp fire at the campsite and some communal cooking...also to have had some portable toilets set up...but a great event...although some marker flags had fallen over other participants assisted others to keep people en route.
The event pack collection was a bit out of the way but thankfully one person was allowed to collect for multiple participants.
Timings and result not available at the time of submission but I understand the . I would definitely do this event and other urban ultra challenges in the future...”
“This is one of my favourite races in the UAE. Its hard but so rewarding. The fact that its a 2 day race makes you connect a lot more with other runners rather than the normal city races for example. This is one of the best ways to experience the real desert. No thrills camping isnt everyones cup of tea but how would you know if you havent tried it? Me and my friends will be back for more next year, Im sure we will see you there. ”
“Great work by the ladies that organized this event. Totally awesome. Thank you.”
“Congratulations to the Urban Ultra ladies for once again organising a first rate event which will live long in the memory. Clearly a huge amount of effort went into setting up this race. Communications and organisation were all excellent. There is always such great camaraderie at the Urban Ultra events. Both courses (particularly for the day race) were amazing, and it was a wonderful way to experience the splendour and beauty of the desert wilderness. Only one minor quibble - next time can goody bag pick-up be at Adventure HQ?....much more convenient location and it is the right place for picking up required equipment.”
“My first run in an urban ultra event. Very impressed with how the organisers made everyone feel welcome, and I met some great people.”
“Pre- event communication was not impressive and really no reason why the goody back should be picked up before the race - other than checking the sport in life shop out ...
Routes were really good and beautifully organized with full moon and all. Will definitely be back and I'm almost sure both wife and kids will run next year.
Didn't see any stage 1 results out there, would be nice also to see who the other guys are.
Didn't see any give aways and don't bother about the medal - but would surely be great the the kids - a photo for face book is worth a thousand words - looking forward to that...
One last practicality - why not start at 6:30? For the night run it's already dark and for the morning run not as hot?
Thanks again - We'll be back ...”
