“You ladies ROCK! - It was indeed a great race - thanks to Louise, Pascale and everyone who helped out and participated. I really appreciated the smiling crew & the oranges at the water stops – both of which kept me moving along! Look forward to running it again! Great race and training for the Extreme 3. Kudos!”

“My first course with UU, you made a good job - Next year, why not 4 loops? I will be there! Why not starting earlier to skip the hotter part of the day? ”

“A proper challenge - I decided to wait a few days before writing a review since different emotions can play a part in the overall evaluation, however I must say this race did not disappoint. Pre-race build up on Facebook was good and information shared regarding getting there and where to camp etc was excellent. The course is a great challenge and with 530m elevation gain per lap making over 1500m in total for the 36k it ranks up there with some of the tougher events I've done, combine that with jarring downhills to give a false sense of security and you have a real knee breaker... if you still feel it in the legs 2-3 days later then job well done! Maybe a suggestion for future BIG Stinkers is to possibly make use of other trails (goat tracks?) in the area to bring more variation to the event and to include an ultra distance option as well”

“Tough but Brilliant Race - The course is VERY challenging and VERY steep, but it is well organized and the people at the support stations were great. The path was well marked and easy to follow. Also, all runners were quite supportive of each other. Really rewarding race. ”

“Fresh Air - This is a great race for all. You can try get a good time or you can also take it at your own pace and enjoy the amazing views and fresh air. You also get to run through a local town where the local kids give you a lot of encouragement. I heard someone saying that we could be in Nepal and its true. Can't wait for the next race.”

“Must do event. Tough course with great views - A great well organised event by the ladies from Urban Ultra....Nothing negative at all to say about the race. It would have been nice to have had complimentary access to the springs post race, or aware what is cost so I had enough money in my race bag to cover the cost !! The medal is great but is the same as the other event with the engraving and rippon different only. It would be nice if it was different. I would recommend this to anyone who fancies a tough challenge.”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 03.03.2014
“Thanks Tyrone for your kind comments. The reason we make the medals the same is fundamentally because we try to keep costs to a minimum so that we can continue to give a portion of all event participant fees to charity. We have tried to be as innovative as possible by using the ribbon colour to distinguish race and a label that is removable so that we do not create any waste when runners do not show. They will be redesigned each year.”

“Pure awesomeness! - Two thumbs up for the organizers, they brought a big family together on a very early Friday morning! The track was easy to follow and the experience was worthy of our sweat! I'm searching Premier Online for other like events, I got the taste now :) A big Thank you! ”

“Not really fun, but worth it overall - Overall a good addition to the running schedule and kudos to the organizers. Great medal. Hitting the mountain right away was not very interesting, especially as most of the up is basically walking for most of us. I would add more flat to run on - Possibly 3 km to make it a 15, 30 or 45? Could also start earlier - I would say 07:00 ”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 03.03.2014
“Thank you for your comments (anon?). The race is called the BIG Stinker for a reason ... it is a mountain race. Hence the hill. Making it flat defeats the purpose, but you did have approx 1.5km to run before you hit the incline and then a long downhill section. The course is designed this way ... perhaps more hill training will have you running more of the incline next year? Hope to see you at the next event.”

“The most challenging 36km in the Middle East - Great event. A real challenge to keep going for the 3rd loop. Spectacular scenery especially on the first climb with the sun just rising above the mountain top. Well organised with enthusiastic people at support stations. Great fun.”

“A really fun, challenging run with stunning views! - The only things that wasn't great was that there were no info anywhere that the truck road between between 311 and RAK was do dark and dangerous. We went when it turned dark and feared for our lives! People drive like crazy (no news) on a road without any kind of light. We had more than two situations that we were so close to crash. For next time please rec another route or be clear that the participants need to go there during daylight. Otherwise you will soon have a tragical accident. We said "never again" but when the race was so nice and so much fun that the road shouldn't put anyone off. ”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 03.03.2014
““We are very sorry you found the route to the event dangerous. However, we can only be responsible for so much as the event organiser and the driving habits of the UAE population unfortunately is not one of them. We did give 2 routes to get to the event so there was an alternative. The route you take is not something we can control, however, we take your comments on board and will issue a warning to participants for the next event about the lighting.””
