“Great event - the swim is a bit narrow ;) - The event is globally well organized and cycling on Yas circuit is a treat. The only downside is the swim: around 150 people were in my wave and swimming in the narrow path proved to be challenging.”

This year there was only a tshirt. Abu Dhabi stridents do much better on the half marathon. Giving more time between the waves would be appreciated as congestion always appear at the end. Splitting the groups based on their size and lengths of bike ride would make sense. ”

“Average event at a quality venue - Course itself was great. The signage, communication and quality of some marshals was not so great. As a first time competitor it not from AD from the arrival at the venue it wasn't very clear what the process was. Marshals in the transition even tried to tell me the swim was the last discipline when I asked about exiting transition? Several Olympic distance athletes almost missed the second lap as the marshal was not communicating clearly. The volunteers need to be briefed properly. ”

“Let's try harder? - Love the swim and bike course but run course still quite boring. Few important points: COLD water. COLD water is needed at aid stations, especially when it's 30 degrees and sandy. Cold water is needed at the finish line, even if there's allegedly "no electricity" like I was told (really??) and handed a cup of lukewarm water. Come on guys, race is over $100, the t-shirt is barely good enough to clean our bike with and there are still no photos 8 days later. Have a bit of dignity in your efforts?”

“Best Venue in UAE - Well organized and superbly delivered. Just a bit of a blip when we arrived at registration 15 minutes late, expecting it to be open to 4pm. Sure it was my mistake, along with another 30 people. Lovely man obliged and gave race packs. Please make instructions as idiot proof as possible, open from 11am left a bit of guesswork as to closing time. Thank you supporters, volunteers and marshals, great job. ”

“Need awards for older athletes - Race was great. Liked the longer spacing between race starts. Not enough room on the bike racks for Wave 8 but other racks had extra room. Award categories include all decades (20, 30, and 40 year olds) except those older than 50, who are all lumped into one category. Need a 51-60, 61-70 and 71-80 category.”

“Great course and event but room for improvement - Love TriYas but there is so much that still feels 'ameteur' about the event that is easily rectifiable: Water - when there is a sandstorm, stick some water in transition, believe me it is needed. Signage - 'keep left, pass right'. Run course - partition a section of the track and bring it inside. Aid stations - water only? Come on! Bike racks - number them individually. This is a fantastic event but with a few minor adjustments it can be up there competing with the best of the best globally. ”

“Good event, but need to split large waves - The 31-40 Men's sprint has had too many people in the wave both years. Maybe make the waves go every 10 min, and split the larger ones in two. The one I was in was anarchy in that small space.”

“Great event ... some areas for improvement - Great event considering the conditions! Pre-event comms were great and overall I really enjoyed the day! Just some areas that let the organisers down; There was no water in transition which isn't acceptable. When we asked for water from a number of staff members they all pointed us in different directions. As I have not done this event before I would have appreciated more distance markers on the cycle and run route so you can keep track of what there is to go. ”

“Amazing venue and event - All very good...i loved it. It ran smoothly and the course was amazing. The only slightly annoying thing was people cycling at a slow pace in the middle of the track which made it difficult to pass on the right. A couple of signs to say 'keep left, pass on the right' for the people who didn't read the guide might have helped There may have been a sign but i didn't see it. Highly recommended though...a must do!”

“Well organised, great venue - Not enough XL shirts at the finish as I was in the last event. Was given a woman's Large instead which is useless to me.”

“Good experience, however improvement needed. - This was my first event in the UAE, I come from Miami. Rules in America indicate keep right and advance on the left, I noticed that here is the oposite however while on the bike track, slow traffic was everywhere, people do not respect the rules and the fastest cyclist cut the curves without any caution, there was no marshals present during my 4 laps. Maybe more signage on the track will help to make cyclist to respect the rules. ”

We paid AED 375 and we didn't dersrve to have one single photographer? You guys should learn from RAK half marathon, for half of that price everyone got at least 10 pics”

“Great event - I very much like the change in start time for the female sprint. Overall the female times are slower than the males, and allowing us to go first made of finish with the main group instead of at the end. I hope you continue this order i In all other events I wear a medium. Here the shirt is always to small and does not fit. There is something about the company that has the sizes off most other shifts. My medium shirt looked likes a children sized shirt. Very organized. It is a fun course. ”

“I love TRIYAS - So many waves (i hope next time to be 2-4 waves only, marina water can be fit around 250 competitor). i finished the Olympic distance race while my friends didn't started yet. i cant found any picture services or at least finish line photo (now it 48 hours after the race and i cant find any photos online). overall the event is very good (thank you and see you in 2018) ”

“Recommendation and medical ??? - Could there not be a 60+ category? Will be more fair and encourage older athletes to compete. Medical assistance for the guy who fell seemed to be very slow. Medical assistance on the bike route seemed not in place.”

“Good event. - Overall a good event. Nice atmosphere, well organized. A couple of comments: 1. Race briefing promised water in pit lane/transition. Never found it, staff could not direct to it. 2. Damn weather! 2nd time in 3 years. change date to Jan? Scheduling no doubt complex, but also make more sense to separate 2 big Abu Dhabi triathlons more (2 week gap this year is better than 1 week last). 3. More Olympic rack-space. Numbers may also help, but wise people use numbers on garage doors to locate bike!”

“Great event, great venue! - It would have been more convenient if there was a larger window to collect the race packs. There seemed to be a little bit of confusion around the transition of the relay teams and not all staff was aware of how it was supposed to flow. We even received contradictory information which could have led to disqualification. But altogether, brilliant event. Loved the venue, the entertainment and the organization of it all. Well done!”

“Showers and shirt sizes - Hello, The people in the purple shirts were not very well informed when asked questions but they were helpful by calling someone that knows. There were no showers, and i meant just an outdoor shower at least to wash out the sea water and sweat. The shirt sizes were meant for kids? I got a small with fits a 10 years old than i replaced for a medium which fits a 12 years old. Also my friend who's XXL didn't have any that fits him. Overall was nice and i might do again next year. Thanks ”

“Great race - Please do not have an open racking system. Coming in from bike I found people had racked their bikes solidly over my changing towel. After the event I saw they were not even from my wave. So I had to find a rack spot elsewhere and come back to my space to change for the run. Not impressed, but still love the event.”

“Well organized but falls short in some areas - Overall a very well organized event however the lack of specific bike rack places in transition made it a free for all and very congested. I came back into t2 to find someone else had racked my bike where I had initially left it. If there's an effort to have race numbers on bike and helmet then at least have a designated space in transition Also a lot of overtaking on the wrong side (left) on the bike course which is dangerous and was not marshaled. Overall though very happy and a good course”

“Good training - The water was too salty, the ride was too windy, and the temperature was too hot for the run... :D more seriously, overall nice race, smooth and well organized. But few point for improvement: - distribution of package with a drive in line, to avoid the mayhem for parking at the viceroy, - last wave was super late... we had the feeling to be alone at the end. - set the racking with numbers, it was a real mess - people throwing gel pack on the road. Dangerous for bikes on corner! thanks all! ”
