“This was my 1st Triathlon ever. My age group 40 to 50. We started in the last wave. Award ceremony started before we finished. We felt totally excluded to the event /not important enough to wait for or support us till the end.
Got lost on the running route as in some places the officials left.
Enjoyed the ITU Triathlon far more than the TRI YAS. Better my overall time in the ITU Triathlon by 28 minutes ( 1:38).
Very disappointed in the TRI YAS Triathlon.
“Great location, great organisation. Only suggestion is maybe fix the run course so the competitors don't have to run up a hill straight out of transition! :)”
“This race is really worth it. It's not every day that you can cycle on a F1 track. The course is spectacular, the setting is fantastic and conducive to a fantastic atmosphere.”
“All good until I got to the podium and got a medal indistinguishable from the finishers medal - felt disappointed.
A wonderful event though, and well organised”
“Everything is more or less perfect and should be unchanged, but if you like to improve, there are the following which might be interesting for you:
1. Supporter should not been allowed to have any access to the race track at all.
2. Collecting the bike after (Wave)-Race should be reconsidered, as slower racers do have a disadvantage to the others. Maybe it would be a solution to put into a wave racers with similar results instead of waves with same age range.
“Great, experience. Super course for swim and cycle, the running however was in darkness for most of the time and massive lack of atmosphere.
Hard to transition when people are there collecting their bikes, made it dangerous.
Where are the event photographs, as this was my first I was really looking forward to seeing the photos. This has been very disappointing. My husband took part in the Olympic, I feel these medals should be different not the same.
However overall, amazing experience.”
“Nice race well orgaised”
“2 issues - A bit confusion on lap counting for the cycling segment for the Olympic distance & bike collection confusion whilst some competitors were still competing nearly caused some accidents ”
“The best place to take a race! ”
“Just i don't find photos of the event”
“Add signs to left of track indicating laps as well as on right before break to transition. More bins over greater distance after water stations.”
“Safe environment with great support... I haven't had any photos or links, but I know there were photos taken..”
“More family restaurants would be appreciated”
“Great event my first tri I loved it”
“Baggage claim of stored bags was a nightmare. Needs big improvement. Separate medals for the different categories would have been good and the goody bag was virtually non-existent. Other than that, seemed a well organised event. ”
“Not enough showers
Not enough changing areas
Long walk between the car park and event
Bottle neck crossing the swim/cycle change over was dangerous.
No signs for toilets and changing facilities.
Long wait in the water before the event started.”
“Well organised, friendly and family orientated. Excellent course with smooth swim, large gaps between wave starts and of course 100% traffic free roads! Excellent and thoroughly enjoyable!”
“Where to find the Official Photos of the event?”
“I did not get a t-shirt in my size. The only options were large and I am a small. That is my only complaint though. Everything else was good.”
“Really good event! No issues and good atmosphere. Really liked that you could use the computer to check your time straight after the finish! I liked not having to wait to find out my time and position! Well done! ”
“A brilliant event for all levels and all ages. Super setting, especially the bike course which is a unique experience. Everyone friendly and supportive”
“Improve the aid stations during the run and tell us something re the photo service.”
“Really liked the event. A great setting. Long waits between waves. Will definitely do again. However there was frustration with the tshirt sizes and running out.”
“I cannot find any photos or videos about the Tri Yas 2016.
“Bag drop could easily be organised better. Bag drop registration did for some reason make up their own numbers instead of using the bag stickers that was part of the race pack. Needless to say this made the whole process sloooow.”
“Only issue I had was with the T-Shirts.....could get a better one to be honest. ”
“The only disappointing thing is that my age category starts so very late.... so when we are doing our run...it is very dark & desolate on the course...it can be desponding as there is no one to pace yourself against....and by the time we have finished there are very few people there to see it as all have gone home, yet we cheer the other competitors on!”
“I really like this event as it is well organised, a fantastic venue and well staffed with volunteers. ”
“Race numbers front and back should be provided, we only had one number for the shirts.
More clearly signposted toilets.
More marshaling of bikes, particularly slow bikes weaving all over.
A very good day out!”
“Poor Suppies at the aid stations , can't think of many races where there is not a gatorade or coke and maybe even a gel to be had.
Post race unripe banana and refilled electrolyte drink pretty poor.
T-shirt hideous colour and fabric, now a cleaning rag for bike.
The course is great and volunteers awesome. thanks to them..”
“Enjoyed my first TriYAS and will be back again.”
“Safe, sociable and so much fun!”

“Good event, reasonably well run. Only main criticism would be that bike collection after the race was not as good or as well organised as other years.”
“A very nice experience.”
“The race pack didn't have an ankle strap for my timer, so had to go back for that and there was some confusion over numbered wrist bands which again we thought would be in the pack and wasn't.
Otherwise a really fun and well managed event. Thank you ”
“I don't like Olympic Distance triathlon. It hurts- from the moment you set off, lasting about 2 hours (not like sprint which is more acute but for a shorter time or Ironman which hurts less, though for longer) But while there was a bit of pain suffered during TriYas it was mitigated by the fast and exciting course and the fact that the 2 run laps were slightly different. Good call on that one. Spectator and volunteer support was fantastic and there was a great atmosphere during the whole event.”

“Well organised event, but was confused by the race guide not describing exactly what was in the pack in terms of race numbers, would have preferred the opportunity for more warm up time in the water, and something more than a banana to eat on the finish line. Otherwise a good event, thanks”
“Very well organized event, thoroughly enjoyable, thank you! Only disappointment was finishing race to be told t-shirt size I had registered to receive was no longer available. This is a regular occurrence for small t-shirt wearers! Finisher's shirt is a great way to advertise an event, which I'm happy to do, but can only do this if it fits me! There was also a lot of poor cycling etiquette and lane discipline visible on the track - maybe reiterate important points during swim briefing in future?”
“My only negative item would be a lack of rest room facilities along the routes.”
“All was fantastic, extremely smoth, and a big thanks to the Marshals big smile and help.
I have only 2 small remarks for the next time:
1. A lot of friends, me included had problems with the cycling, when you focus on a race, is hard to remember the laps and therefore one of my friends in the doubt had an extra lap, with consecuence of losing lot of time
2. Longer arrival straign for spectator
FOr the rest GREAT JOB!!!!! ”
“My 4th time doing TriYas and it never disappoints.”
“Well organised. awesome venue. ”
“We had a terrific time. Thank you so much. ”
“Running path very dull and uninspiring. Also lack of photo service disappointing as well as lack of timing certificates (last you your u could print your timing certificates from website)”
“A tough and long day. difficult to see what could be done about the length given it was because weas friends and family had folk in multiple categories. There could be more for families to do when watching and more food outlets would be good”
“Generally very good and I understand that you couldn't keep people waiting for their bikes forever but being in the final wave as an over 41 woman it was very frustrating to have to fight my way past groups of people chatting and taking photos to get my bike back into transition. Also with women being the final group it would have been nice to have some smaller sized t-shirts available at the end.
Everything else was great: organisation, volunteers, advice, even the weather! ”
“Enjoyed my first Triathlon. Kids fun games were great touch. Swimming was fun, cycling and running tracks were great.
Need the photo for the event”
“Impossible to find any link to or any info on the photographers. Would love to purchase pics... Don't know where to go!!!! If you could help would very much appreciate”
“The running course is so boring without public around to cheer you up especially km 6 to 8 which were a nightmare!
The swim was great and the bike (despite the wind) was a good experience. ”
“Buoys on the swim course to distant. Difficult to track”
“Joining the triathlon is only one among my bucket list. I enjoyed it and I can really say my training paid off. It's a great experience... Thank you and more power...”
“Tri Yas is the event you would want to take part in whether you want to race competitively or just for fun.”
“The stickers for all equipment is a great touch. Delicious pasta party the night before.Nice course for spectators viewing for all 3 sports event. Bike racking could have sequential numbering hence easier to find one's bike.A bit disappointed on my finishers shirt as I didn't receive the size I have requested. 2nd lap Olympic run is tough.Did extra lap for bike leg, can it be removed? Great round of applause for the organizers, volunteers & supporters on pulling out the event very successful.”
“Fantastic organisation at the event, excellent marshalers!”
“The venue is a good one for a triathlon. The in-water start prevents all the mad-dash into the water like so many other tris. The bike and run course are well-marked.”
“I comment the organizers, volunteers and supporters on pulling out the event very successful. A bit disappointed on my finishers shirt as I didn't receive the size I have requested. Also, a tote bag or some provisions and freebies were not given, not sure if previous year you have it. If there's any that would be great for all the participants to have a remembrance. ”
“Well organised throughout. Thank you!”
“I was there since the begging of the afternoon and saw the kids swimming. I don't understand how the marshals with the mike could let a kid (wave 2) jump in the water with a soccer short and top. He almost drawn under his eyes and didn't do anything. The life guard had to rescue him before he could made it to the start line.
-There was only one in the run course
-Timing and results services could have given the bike and run split
-Event photo services, haven't heard of it
“Great event as always. Only the bag drop could be organised a bit better.
keep it up!
“My only complaint is that they started my wave almost 6 minutes early and I ,and others were caught out because we were warming up. It was supposed to start at 4:35, but started at 4:29. The waves could start late, if necessary, but never early!”

“Overall an enjoyable experience but not without its flaws.
Signage to get to the actual event was poor. We drove from RAK on the morning and found it difficult to get to race parking.
Bag drop organisation was nonsensical. Participants havea race number-use this for bag drop, no need for separate number system. This slowed things down & meant tired cold bodies queuing for far too long to collect belongings.
No isotonic drink @ support stations.
interesting course, ppl@ support stations vgood”
“Some basics still need to be addressed”
“The swim in comparison to the other tri's was great. Water is calm and clear as opposed to running in from the shore. The stickers on all equipment to ensure nothing gets stolen is a great touch. ”
“I got lost at the transition, specially at the bike to run leg. It was very messy, someone parked her bike at my friend's stand. Wetsuits everywhere. I hope next time there is number tag at each participant's stand.
Overall, it was a fantastic event. I will definitely participate next year.”
“A very advisable race to run, fun, well organized and in a beautiful place!”
“Fun event. Great environment. Lots of people and well organized.
Will definitely do it next year.”
“Great race again, It would be cool if there were more spectators on the run to offer some more encouragement. Thanks.”

“Thank you for organizing much better weather this year! I really enjoyed the event and was especially appreciative of the support provided by marshals and volunteers on the course.
My main criticism is with what felt like a barrage of emails ahead of race day suggesting category changes and ongoing amendments to race day arrangements (this isn't the first time the race has been held, I expected comms in this area to be considerably slicker) ”
“It would be nice to have a water support station for each lap on the cycle outside of the pit lane so you could grab water without coming into the pit lane to get it. I was put off of the Olympic race because of the 10k second lap course. Did it a couple of years ago and the second lap needs a rethink!! ”
“Great communication, pre event briefing and fantastic day out thank you”
“Take a leaf from Giant Duathlon Series and arrange categories for teens and tots. Fantastic course well organized and well signed. Thank you to all the volunteers as always brilliant job.”
“Amazing venue - read some negative comments about volunteers but that's not my experience. They were often cheering, smiling, shouting and informative so a big thank you. Would have been nice to see some food stalls to get food other than in the cafe as it was a long old day out. Will definitely be back next year and I'm looking forward to it already. ”
“Volunteers were great, friendly, helpful. Points to improve - 1) I was in the last wave - too late - prizes were given out before we finished. 2) People were let into transition to get their things while last wave was on the course. I had to tell people to move so I could run to where I had to rack my bike. 3) No t-shirt in my size (last wave) - why not give in kit. This is my first international sprint tri and I wanted a t-shirt I could wear. Otherwise great event.”
“The time & results service was excellent, waves make the events so so long , No event photos service ??? Why o.O ? Wonderful place to race but poor organis .”
“Thanks guys for a brilliant day. Only minor comment is that I would just like to see a better photo service.”
“Race started 5 mins early, it was a rush!”
“I cannot understand why there was almost nobody at the finish line for the last runners of each wave. It doesn't concern me since I was in the middle field but ALL participants pay the same fee so that ALL participants should be treated in the same way (motivationg applaus, photos, medal). The T-Shirts were in the wrong sizes though we had to inform about our size prior to the race. On the running course there was almost no staff except some few guys looking on their mobiles.”
“Overall great fun and amazing support from the voluteers. Bike and run slightly short in Olympic distance. Run out of small finisher t-shirts.
Maybe close off one whole lane for the sprint distance, felt sorry for them trying to run through people packing up.
Will be back and will be spreading the word, loved the F1 track!!!”
“Great course and a well executed event...giveaways, t-shirt could be better, as could the marshals (who were often busy on their phones!)”
“Distribution of t-shirts after the race was poorly done, they ran out of the larger sizes, surely this shouldn't happen if everyone indicates their sizings when booking.”
“T-Shirt sizes were a little smaller than indicated on the size tag”
“Absolutely beautiful swim course, very well organised. Glad we did not have to rack our bikes the day before and could pick up our bibs on the day.”
“Fantastic event - gets better each year - kids tri was a bit confusing in transition - apart from that loved it, great organisation, thank you.”
“Bathrooms on course perhaps. I had to leave the venue between the bike and run to go to the bathroom. I think maybe there should be one in the racking area just in case.
The waves for swimming should be smaller. The beginning was like eels in a barrel - part of the triathlon experience I'm sure, but the narrow path of the marina meant it was too many people in a small space. People were running into each other too much.
Two numbers for the body would have been better as well. ”
“Race t-shirts should be the same for everyone even if we finish late. I raced this race last year and received the same old shirt of last year and not even my size. Im a small and only large and XL was available. ”
“Sorry to be blunt in this attempt at constructive feedback but the organisation needs to take it up a notch because the loitering around for 3-4 hours is unnecessary and the run course still quite bland for Olympic distance.
Also, not impressed again by the t-shirt quality and size availability for anyone finishing outside the top 10.
Finally, the goodie bag... oh well.
We WILL come back but would love to see improvement.”
“I noticed this year during the swim, maybe there were only two kayaks on the water and a small boat. Not really sure but last year was better safety precautions during the swim. Good thing no one got seriously injured in the water, cause im not also a good swimmer. And Shirt sizes, there were no Small sizes , I agree with the dissemination pror to race, you should put more designs on shirt, love the camous. Overall 3 thumbs up to all organizers. Making history in Abu Dhabi.”
“Great event, however, as an over 51 female i was very disappointed that they decided to hold the prize giving while all of the over 41 and over 51 females were out on the course, just 75mins after our start time. The fastest over 41 finisher was 77+ minutes. This screams we are not important, no-one needs to watch us finish and we don't need to be at the prize giving. Would you do this to the over 30 men? Also having people collecting their bikes while we were trying to transition! Just rude. ”
“It was my very first Triathlon and what a beautiful memory! I loved every second of it! Thank you!”
“It was very well organized at each stage of the race: race bag collection, bike racking, bag drop, race ...
My kids enjoyed the face painting in the village !
“As a 41+ female, I always participate in the last wave. By the time we finish, our shirt sizes (small and medium) are consistently gone. And we've seen that participants as well as non-participants are walking out with multiple shirts. Couldn't you regulate better? Just give us all our shirts with the race collection package at the beginning of the event, so we all get the size we register for.
I did appreciate the camouflage orange and the Star Wars by-line!!! So cool. Wish I'd gotten one.”
“Expansive, well organised, well located.
Would prefer morning rather than afternoon.
Only water at support station.
I don't need a medal.
More photos would be nice.
Very smily people, organizers and participants, great atmosphere.”
“Great venue and organisation”
“I got accident from drafting racer and I got injured. So I'll appreciate if you will find out who was that racer and do something to him to be more responsible in the next races.”
“A nice day with the family
“Timing did not work out properly and took long time to get resolved for my daughter Juliette Janne d'Othee”
