“Organiser needs to improve in all areas. - It would appear more effort went into the TV coverage than the event course/organization/communication which were all below par compared to other local events. Did the low number of entries come from a lack of engagement with local groups? Potential for a great event is there, but was not the case this year.”

“Good tough race - Guidance and support for individual competitors needs work. Need to be able to send equipment to each starting point at the beginning of the race. Changeover from running to cycling was terrible. Staff giving no guidance to competitors. Needs attention. Mountain bike to kayak was good. MUST have water stops on the kayak leg. This is the hottest part of the race!! Maybe put some of the Red Bull girls on a floating pontoon with ice boxes of water? more kayaking at Wadi Ad. ”

“Great concept for event but needs better planning - Was very happy when I heard about the event and appreciate the organisers flexibility in adding a solo category. However in hindsight it was definitely too early in the season for such an event and echo the lack of water on the MTB leg. I'm all for self-sufficiency but the briefing/minimal communication beforehand suggested there would be plenty of water on course. Has potential to be a great event. PS apologies to the marshals for my language at the MTB/Kayak transition, I was suffering!”

“A lot to learn about event organisation - A single 5 point email 1 day before event and email 8 hrs prior to event start advising of registration time is less than ideal. Talking to participants, they seemed lost on many points that should have been made clear way before arrival at the event. By far the major issue was a lack of water on the MTB leg. The heat and course difficulty required at least 2 more water points. The event was disjointed and could have benefited from a central transition. Marshals lacked course knowledge.”

“Good event, just wrong time of year - 1. Though I personally cant operate in heat, timing of event somewhat ill conceived. Those of us who hike or climb regularly in the mountains never do anything long before Nov - Oct is still way too hot. Xmas/NY period would be a great time for event - a period event organizers strangely ignore. 2. Absence of water stations on bike leg greatest flaw of event 3. Transition area security needs tightening - same transition area would be better 4. Otherwise, great course and could be great event”
