“Great Route, bad organization - Route and landscape was unique, race very good. Unfortunately the organization not prepared. All the info given in advance were not the same during race day, starting timing wrong, a lot of confusion an the beach because nobody knew the course. During the bike, where road were not closed to traffic as announced, marshalls were not giving support. All the first draft of timing was completely wrong. A lot of volunteers in organization but more interested in enjoying themselves rather then athletes”

“Muscat is beautiful but the race could improve - First, the volunteers were fantastic, wonderful. They have made every race I've done in Oman a lot of fun. The race itself was bad. The organization was terrible. Many people rode the course incorrectly. None actually DNFd because there were no marshalls. Moreover no elevation maps or course routes beforehand. We all took TT bikes to a race with 1500+ ft of elevation gain. We might come back to other events. Oman is great. The race organization itself really needs to improve.”

“Beautiful settings but disappointing organization - I drove all the way from Dubai, and stayed in the resort the night prior expecting to have such a great event but left Muscat quite disappointed. The organization needs major improvement from A to Z.... Briefing was chaotic with the directions for sprinters/olympic. Starting lineup at the beach was a nightmare. The organization was still fixing the buoys when everyone was already lined up. cycling marshals talking to police instead of guiding cyclists.... Some better training required.”

“Great event... would love to come again - Please be careful with distinguishing the Olympic vs Sprint (specialy during the swim course). Moreover, more timing beacons enroute will be good to ensure less probability of people taking shortcuts. “Has the potential to be truly incredible - Unique course, brilliant scenery. Swim route not clear and very difficult to hear instructions at the last minute with no megaphone - sharp rocks on swim sliced my toe open - carried on anyway. Glad I did to experience the cycle route which was amazing, hilly, technical and at times very fast. Signage and directions could have been better. Run a slog that I found very hard with hills and an injury. Goodie bag ace, breakfast a good spread and a nice medal to go with it. Thank you!”

“The Mystery Muscat Triathlon! - So.... the Mystery Muscat triathlon began with absolutely no ability to access any route information prior to the event. It was as if Scooby Doo and the Mystery van had to disclose that it was Mohammed under the mask who actually organized this event. The race organizers continued the charade by forcing competitors to leave their very expensive bikes in the transition area over night with no security, and be quite rude along the way. So much more to say. never doing a Tri with this club again”

“Great challenge, needs more organization - The course was unique and very challenging which made for a fun day but the route was unclear and not as described in the emails leading up to the event. Driving out for packet pickup Thursday was a waste of time as we still had to pick up numbers in the morning. I believe that the organizers can learn from this first try and put on a better event next year. I also hope to see some recognition for the podium finishers in future (not only for first place) even if it's something small.”

“Could be a great event! - In short- not well organised. No race route prior to the event. Arrived at 3pm for race number and pack but the organisers weren't organised...this first impression continued. On the race day couldn't hear race directions. Swimmers all started at the same time, which was not as advertised. The route was hilly and hard and beautiful. The finish of the race was great- with a lovely breakfast set up- the organisers just need to be more organised - more race photos (have there been any!?) too.”

“Has great potential to become an iconic event - Tough and challenging super fun course in a magic location, one suggestion for the OD race is a 2 lap 5km run to roundabout and back down to beach so that the Paradise views of the hotel and surrounds can be enjoyed more often. It was great to have a kids race, most kids are up for a bit more of a challenge, say 5km ride, 1km run. Well done to the organisers”
