“Tough course - The course was tough and more than just a challenge. If you completed it, no matter your time, you accomplished a huge feat. I thought overall support stations were acceptable. I think towards the end of 40km some people noted event organizers bailing out or not offering assistance to cyclists in need. Marshalling terrible for me cost valuable turning around near the finish because two marshals weren't attention and let cars in on the roundabout towards the finish line.”

“Great event. On course support outstanding. - Well organised, well run event. Special praise for marshals, police and medical support on the course - all excellent, friendly and supportive. Catering excellent and generous. Some improvements possible in giving directions on arrival. We arrived in the dark the evening before event and it was not clear where registration or the tent accommodation was located. Rather last minute preparations to sweep the sand off the road might have done a little earlier rather than the morning of the race.”

“Very poor organization and assistance on - I ran the 40 kms race. I had 2 punches and one breakdown in the bike and I did not receive any support from the organization. I decided to end the race but I did not have any water, police support, anything. By the time that I reached the meta, no one was there ”

“Having this event twice a year would be nice! - I participated in the Men's Beginners 40km. It would have been better if lunch was served earlier and it was frequently announced where it will be served, so we don't race with a full stomach. But still, great event.”

“Can be improved a lot - Great route, poor organisation. Last minute changes to start times, inaccessible start area and a lack of pre-race info meant planning for this event was difficult. Could learn a lot from similar events elsewhere - if the organisers want to. Great route and worth making a weekend of it if you like camping, otherwise it's a very early start from a nearby (sort of) hotel. I'm sure the event attracts a lot of people to the area that would not have otherwise seen it.”

“Great event and venue - Had big trouble sorting out my registration as my log in now sends to facebook which I detest. Had to route via my sons log in. Michelle was tremendous.”

“The most beautiful race - The Bad: 1. Race number confusion (different on bike & backs) 2. Bananas were inedible (un-ripe) while riding 3. Electrolyte drinks being offered en-route would have been appreciated 4. The 2 hour delay from the end of the race to being allowed to drive out of the area 5. No facilites for food / drink / toilets while waiting the 2 hours 6. A lot of people cheating (hanging on cars uphill) The Good: 1. Stunning route 2. Challenging 3. Great atmosphere 4. Overall very well organised”

“Spectacular scenery - challenging riding - Perfect route marshalling. Fantastic camp set-up FOC. Tents even had light and electrical socket! Stunning dune backdrop. Only complaint - having to battle through 40k rider group unwilling to move for us to get over the finish line which was at the same place as their start line. Would love to have started at 7 or 8am instead of 9.30am. Water points could have been indicated prior to start. Would have liked a heads up that roads were about to close so we could avoid long wait to leave for home.”

“Nothing other than AWESOME! - Epic route, awesome scenery, cheap entry fee for a great offering. Loved the complimentary breakfast, lunch and dinner, the camping, the atmosphere full of revved up cyclists, shaing nerves before and jubilations afterwards. Need photos but really the biggest memories will be in my head. No giveaways but who cares when its only 50AED to enter! Very well done to the organisers! ”

“Well organised race - Very well organized race, could not fault anything. Thanks to all the officials, marshals and the local police for marshaling us all safely and keeping us on track all the way. Good to see a back markers support car following all the way to look after the stragglers like me! Plenty of water just when it was needed, i.e. in the second half of the race coming back through the sand mountains in the afternoon heat, well done. ADNOC food tent and majlis fantastic.”

“Best cycle race course in the UAE - A great event. Fantastic and tough course. Well organised and supported. Just don't do the award ceremony four hours after the finish of the 117km event! It's a four hour drive to Dubai and hanging around and then driving home by 9pm, makes it a long, long day. Awards after each event next year please”

“Good event, perfect arrangements for support - Very friendly organisers, relaxed atmosphere. Very good support service like marchalling, water, food along the route. No disturbance from traffic. Breakfast and food all very well organised and in abundance. ”

“Great challenge with room for organization imprvmt - Awesome course setting. No option for changing registration online, registered for the 40km and wanted to change to 117km which could be done only at site on the day of the race (which Michelle helped with). No information about support stations provided in advance. Lack of support stations especially in the first 40km of the race. Poor signage on the course and on getting to the start line. Start timing should be when a person crosses the start gate not a fixed time (we started 15 min late).”
