“There were no rest rooms on the path, further the road was not very running friendly”
“Ran the half marathon. The race had a good vibe overall, the pre and post race entertainment was good, however, there are several areas of improvement:
- Marshalling and signage could have been improved.
- Support stations were not every 2.5km and there was a stretch of 4-5k without any stations.
- Water bottles were big and warm, did not help considering the very humid conditions.
- No clear signage for bib collection.
- Awards ceremony was only in Arabic.
- 5k runners did not get awarded”
“I love to participate again if the event is put early morning say 6:30 or 7 am then Muslims have enough time to go for Friday prayers. At the 12K and/or 15K chocolate bars or concentrated sugar must be available some have very low sugar (hypoglycemia) due to exhaustion and dehydration need to top up sugar. More ambulances must be available. Few areas of road were rough and rocky, people above 60 face difficulties to run on rough surface. Other wise it was a great organisation.”
“Suggestions for improvement:
1) Bag drop area
2) Pre-race briefing - lose the speech about directions: it just confuses everyone.
3) The water stations were not every 2.5K as stated which is a bit annoying in such a hot race.
All in all though a very nice event, with a couple of things which could be improved.”
“Overall it is a pleasant run in Salalah.
A tip on the sations: Use cups instead of whole bottle water to save resources please. ”
“Very helpful staff, enough water and perfect route marking! Unfortunately the route was boring - you have so beautiful place and why not to do a trail run in the mountains? I am also very disappointed because awards in age categories were not fair - there was no 30-39 classification, although that was most represented age category! And 40+ took also 2 out of 3 first places in general category. You guys should think it over, because it is better organized all over the world...”
“Event pack collection process could have been organized better. Barbeque was good.”
“A well organised event. There was a slight delay at the start due to collection of the timing chips. The organisers acknowledged and apologized for this. Maybe allow more time for this next year. All the blame cannot be on the organisers, however. Competitors were still arriving well after the 2:45pm cut-off time, so this contributed also.
Timing needs to be more accurate. there was over 30 seconds between my 'official' time and the time I saw on my watch.”
“A well organized event, more people to hand out the chips would be good, everyone was very helpful, great volunteers, sufficient water stations, marshals at every turn. In total a very recommendable event. ”
“1 ) Designated bag drop area is needed. Marshals could not advise runners on this.
2 ) MC on the day does not need to provide detailed directions, just tell runners its well sign posted. Plenty of marshals relax and enjoy.
3 ) Race needs to start on time.
4 ) Chip collection needs to be provided with race pack. queuing twice is a waste of everyone's time.
Otherwise it was a good event . I know it's new and will improve each year. medal was beautiful.”
“Really disappointment with my result not indicated though I had a timing chip, wore my bib on the front, seen by others and completed the race well within 3 hrs.”
“The race was okay. Some points of improvement are noted (for example, support stations were not evenly placed despite indications of 2.5km in between, some of them were every 4-5km; the event had a delayed start because of the chip handling queue taking too long) but it still was a decent event and no major issues on the course itself. Results were up after a reasonable time. The pricing ceremony could be improved though as it was only in Arabic for the overall top 3 and no mention of 5km race.”
“Event has potential, but it definitely needs improvements.
Most runners came from outside Salalah/Oman, so to keep attracting them you need to improve the event.
Organizers are nice and have good intentions. Timing-chip collection created queues. This should be ready in advance and given with the bags-Tshirt. Course could be better. There are beautiful green areas outside Salalah. Water in the stations was warm. OK in general but needs improvement to be a great event. More age groups prizes.”
“The marshals were incredible and very supportive. But the event, overall, was just okay. The bit collection and later signing the disclaimer and then getting the chip was extremely chaotic. Also, making the two young boys works at the registration desk wasn't a very good idea.. Made me feel like it was leading to child labour. Starting the event late was such a failure. I wish the organizers take this as a lesson and improvise on further events. ”
“Always great to be here in Salalah. This time I did bring my family & they all had a great time. ”
“Suggest to put water station before the finish line at least before 1 km to finishing line”
“The run was well-organized. The course well signaled & protected by police & race marshalls. Post-run food offering was also a plus. Would certainly like to come back next year..”
“More marshals are required.
Drink stations were badly organised. no drink station after 6KM to 15KM I think.
Considering this time of year... Use Ice buckets to keep the bottles of water cold. This is important because our body temperature was sky high. ”
“Good marshalling with police support, lovely place tobeat the heat and enjoy the run.”
Food type and warm water supplied during and after the race
Distance between support stations, every 4 km not 2.5 km
“There were no instructions pre-race about the registration, what to do, why there was a delay... etc....
Music was very loud on Friday afternoon...
No one person has welcomed the runners at all.... ”
“Race started late (25 min after initial start)
Few marshals , i ran few kms whithout anyone i can reach for help.
The road was not completely closed at the end i was literally running on the edge of the road because the road was full of cars
Route signage was very bad”
