“Friendly event, organisation needs improving - I enjoyed the trip to Salalah to do this event...so some suggested areas for improvement; clearly mark on map pick-up/event location as gate access changed in the 2x trips required (!), so better to have 1x pick-up for race pack and chip, close to race start so no wasted time, course was OK, but avoid the sections of un-made/rough ground next time, have better course markers and provide km markers, improve marshalling, especially at turning points, importantly...need water/food at finish”

“A good experience despite small flaws - Route is ok but the signages are not clear and not very visible... There should be a mark on the path how far the participant have gone(e.g. every 2.5 km or 5km mark) so that participants won't lose track.Hydration and support stations are good.Staff assigned on the claiming of race pack don't say the same thing. They should be well informed. Race pack, chip and number should be given all at the same time. Start time should be exact also. Despite these small flaws, my overall experience is good.”

“Good race but organisation could be better - The organisation was not too good - there were not enough road markings for the 5km run; we had to go to the venue twice before the race (collection of race pack in the morning and then chip collection in the afternoon); toilets at the venue were quite dirty and had no toilet paper; no water at finish line”

“Not bad for first time, but many areas for improve - I enjoyed the race with very different setting and climate to the usual ME runs! GOOD: staff, ROP, IMPROVMENTS NEEDED: tighter time schedule, no need to come twice to pick up race pack and chip. had to be at start by 3pm latest but race starting at 4:15. Better sign posting, water + fruit for all at the finish line, toilet facilities were awful. No discrimination with prices for men vs women please.”

“Great course. Makes you feel like running on & on - It was a pity having to pay for water at after the run. The event was expensively priced considering the offerings & support stations - looks like the participants covered the flight tickets of far too many volunteers (were so many required after all?). Lots of wastage and littering at the support stations. The post event snacks shop was a damp squib. The staff at the shop were so rude. But the course was fantastic and the ROP+scouts did a great job at marshalling. 3 cheers for them.”

“Very welcoming and friendly - A really lovely atmosphere and very friendly. Very enthusiastic and helpful volunteers. Policemen were lovely, cheering us on! It was a unique event. Organisation good for first event. A few tweaks - e.g making sure the 5km turnaround is clearly marked and clear directions to the registration location for out-of-towners. Route was nicer than expected. Loved the barbecue. ”

“A unique event for Arabia - Some of the comments are harsh. I enjoyed it and would do it again. True, we don't need two visits to venue to pre-register and instructions to find the place could be better. Drinks stations just about adequate and there were a couple of sections where signage could be better. But the friendly spirit and organization, as well as support along the way, made it a pleasure. Challenging course, but fun to run it in a new place and in unusual weather conditions. Well done Muscat Triathlon!”

“Great authentic race; few basics to be addressed - Great event and authentic experience. Helpful and friendly event organisers and a lovely course. Few basics that can easily be addressed next year: better turning point marking, timing and marshaling. Race pack collection on race day, as the entire morning is available and quiet at Khareef festival sight. Water at finish line. ”

“An OK Run found lacking with basics - Was looking forward to the Salaah Half Marathon. Need to pick up bib and shirt on Thursday and then have the welcome dinner cancelled was disappointing. Signage to find the start|finish was non existent. Course KM markers would have been a bonus, proper turn point marshalling also would have helped. The gap between aid station 2 and 3 was too long. No water and refreshments on finish line, no acknowledgement of 3,2,1... Poor post event food. Hopefully constructive feedback will help next year”

“Good..but lots of room for improvement - Positives - Online registration, T-Shirts, medal, timing and results, friendly support staff, police support for the event/road closures Negatives - Race pack and chip collection separately (could have been done together), lack route km signage and no indication of 5km turnaround for those who participated in the 5k run”

“Fair event as a first time but needs improvement - Bad: Goodie bag & bib number collection should be done simultaneously. There was no water for finishers at the end of the race. Course signage was non-existent... thankfully the police knew where to send us. Water stations should not be handing out 500 ml bottles of water - total waste. Good: flat course with very friendly volunteers at water stations. Excellent help from police on blocking roads. Enjoyable BBQ afterwards. Great atmosphere at the start with the DJ.”

“Room for Improvement - Friendly volunteers during pack collection but not all fully informed of race details. Great police support. Signage was poor for the course and confusing in some areas. No precise details of where to collect race packs, which was frustrating and even more frustrating to collect chips 1.5-2 hours before race start. Great attempt for first event but a lot of room for improvement. Salalah is beautiful but the course was less than expected.”

“OK first time event,could improve, family friendly - Bad: Travel twice to unknown pickup location for bib and timing chip, could be merged into 1 trip. Route unmarked, dangerous constructions at times, needs clear signage. More bathrooms & cleaner (soap). Food could have been more generous. Good: Prompt timing results. Music DJ, volunteers helping out, police, scouts. Medal, shirt, bag giveaway. The weather, rainy. The summary: Good first time attempt event, family friendly, nice for a visit of the city of Salalah. Needs some improvement”

“A great location but disappointing organization ! - Great location, but the organization let down the event in a lot of ways. The run should have been held in the morning, avoiding the full day wait for participants. The reporting time was between 1pm -3pm, with the briefing at 3pm. This did not happen till about 3.45pm, with the race starting 10mins beyond schedule. The route was badly marked and scouts/marshals not briefed, 5KM runners ended up running beyond 6KM ! There was no water at the finish line for the 21KM runners. Disappointed !”

“Not bad for a first effort but needs improvement - We had to go to the event twice - once to collect race packs which could only be done the day before or the morning of race. We could not get our bibs or timing chips at the same time as collecting our race packs, this was quite inconvenient. Getting to the race location on Friday morning to pick up the pack was a bit of an adventure - there was no signage within the festival village so I wandered around for 20 minutes before finding the location. Timing chips were the velcro-kind - annoying!”

“The very disorganized race i have ever attended - A runner finished reached finish line without anyone giving water!!! marking the route is very poor especially the turning point of the course!”

“Lots of room for improvement - Didn't start on time, course is ugly, too many "off-road" portions, not enough water/food for finishers, had to travel to the venue twice (only to see that the first visit was to pick up the t-shirt!). I won't be coming back, thanks!”

“A good start and hopefully more Oman-events - + friendly event organizers + police did a great job + the weather and the course. Under palm trees and along greenery + staring and finishing in the heritage village was a great choice. Allowing visitors to see the race. - females only got one cash prize whereas the male had 3 - prize giving was rushed for the age groupers. Handing out of cash prizes took ages. - picking up the timing chip and race pack was too complicated ”

“Very different place to race. - If you like running in the rain. Perfect. Men given 123. Women 1st only. Shame. Age groupers given award 1st only and to one side after the Royal dude left. All words in Omany not English. I think 70% of entrants were from UAE. Finding the registration place was difficult in the middle of the Oman version of global village. The course was lonely at times. Had to shout at the police to ask which route to take. Paddling pools at the finish, full of warm water. Good experience for all. ”

“Good run, evident it was their first. - Insufficient signage to registration area day before. Ridiculous to make us come so early on day of the event with a minimum of 1.5hours to wait. Cancelled the pasta party in place for small mediocre junk food spread. BBQ after was very slow (BBQ was smaller than I use for home BBQs). Was just shawarma. Pretty poor - left hungry to go and get food. Event itself was good, nice tops, medal and bag. ”
