“Well organised event - Plut a sign at the turn off on the SZHighway as if you don't know the area and its very dark the exit is easliy missed - I did it !”

“Exit 13. Unlucky for some. :-) Will check with RTA if we can. Thx.”

“Was worth it - The camaraderie spirit amongst the athletes was remarkeable. I had to stop a few times on the run course as I had a spiking pain in my back, and everytime I would stop, I had other participants cheer me up and push me not to stop. Great spirit guys, keep it up!! ”

“Great legacy event for Roy which is a must do. - Overall it was a great event as always, beautifully run with superb marshalling and top location and course. My only gripes are lack of water on final water point when most needed (!) and the amount of shouting going on in transition area pre race. Although this is down to slackness of competitors it's an already stressful environment for many so could be handled with a bit more sensitivity!! But really enjoyed it again and even better that the results were so swift this year. Many Thanks”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 20.10.2015
“Paul, we had a 5 minute period where we were getting more water to aid station on the run - we certainly plowed through a lot on the day. The transition was to close at 6.10am (The same as the briefing) and after some gentle reminders at 6.10/6.15/6.20 then we still had people wanting to rack bikes and setup. The reason for closing transition is so we can start our timing systems and start the race on time. Hence the need for urgency so we can offer accurate results.”

“Race pack was given to someone else - My race pack (No 383) was given to the wrong person, therefore I received, no timing chip, no number, no swim cap and was also refused access to breakfast. When I informed staff they said they were unable to do anything about it? for 350 AED, this is not exactly value for money”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 20.10.2015
“Hi David. It would appear that entrant # 381 grabbed your race bag by mistake. I have sent you a message through Premier Online and asked you to contact me directly. Thx AF.”

“Another great event put on by the professionals. - Well done RACE ME, another excellent event. We are lucky to have you guys organising races like this for us in the UAE. Can't find fault with anything at all. It was a good course, aid stations were well manned (thank you to the volunteers, you were great) and frequent enough, the venue was excellent and overall organisation slick. The one thing that annoyed me was out of your control- a fellow athlete cursing me as he cut me up on the roundabout. A twit in silly kit. Dropped him 250m later.”

“Remembering Roy - Nice race, people and vibe. Breakfast selection not so great and i hope next time it would be optional and not forced into the event fee. Host's sarcasm is more unpleasant than funny. Awards area could have been in the breakfast area so people wouldnt have to move back and forth. Confusuion on bike in/out and run in/out are”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 20.10.2015
“We are working with the hotel to try and find a solution for prize giving close to breakfast.....but because of the hotel guests they don't want a PA system being used in front of hotel. The reality of the breakfast included in the entry fee is that the hotel is a commercial operation and needs a return for us using their facility....it doesn't come for free, rather than have an increased fee because of venue charges we felt it better to offer something to offset increased entry fee.”

“A great season opener - The check-in process is great, and saves a lot of messing around. One suggeston, if possible is to have more comprehensive timing systems, that enable accurate split times, rather than just being at the end of the transition. Well done RACE.ME, another great race”

“Nice local event but over priced - Generally well organised although still having teething problems. This event has been run several times so would hope these mostly ironed out now. The bike course not that great. Nice to see participation growing”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 20.10.2015
“We are limited in Dubai to the number of possible venues that have proximity to water, parking, facilities etc. We did try different bike course in Race 2 last season but the condition of the road surface towards Palm Jebel Ali was not good. Until such time as the road is upgraded we are hamstrung by only one course option. AF”

“A warm welcome into the world of Triathlon - I cannot tell you how impressed I am with this event. It was my first ever triathlon for which I worked very hard and I was quite nervous to start. The encouragement received by the organisers, marshals, other competitors and spectators was so welcoming, that it made those last meters to the finish line a little less painful. The brilliant organisation really impressed me. Everything was flawless and for a newbie like me it was easy to figure out what had to be done. Onwards and upwards! ”

“It was a good way to start the season - Fantastic support from the organisers. Amazing volunteers. The course wasn't the greatest but it was still a lovely way to start the season. I will be booking the other two in the series very soon. I think the atmosphere was fantastic, our group (ONEndurance from Abu Dhabi) had a fantastic event and thank the host of thier hospitality and kind words throughout the event.”

“Great fun race but... - I love this race and would like to think I'll always compete, but switching the direction of T1 created a cross over in the course which I just didn't understand. It also made the run slightly shorter. The dangerous left hand corner at the end of the run course could do with a rethink too. Awards and breakfast should be kept together. pre book of breaky is a great initiative, but was wasted because extra family on the day couldnt by a ticket so had to leave with them (and miss the awards)”

“Loved it! - Great event with a 5 star feel. Only comments (and this is nit picking): - better awareness of running surface - better signage for parking - some experienced helpers during transition for new comers”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 18.10.2015
“The race info pack describes the run and references that part of the run is on Sand. Agreed on parking Signage, Onto it. Thx. AF”

“Great, as usual ! don't like new T1 direction... - Great race, great team, great spirit, great breakfast, thanks to all the volunteers !!!! I'll be back in december :) I don't like the new transition direction : it's already far from the beach and I don't see the point changing it : it's the same for the bike and for the run so better run less barefoot after the swim... Breakfast is very good and it's nice to have it paid with the registration. But I would like o keep my race number next time (I'm a collector). Maybe to show the medal is ok”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 18.10.2015
“We will work out different logistics for breakfast next time. It cannot be showing number or medal, but something you hand in to avoid "double dipping". Never realised people like to collect numbers. The flow of transition was changed in race 3 last year for a number of safety reasons. It is not uncommon in Triathlon to have distances up to 400m from swim to run depending on location. Safety FIRST !!!”

“Good event overall - After the finish I hung around for around 40 minutes, during which time none of the 30 or so marshalls noticed that I still had a timing chip on my ankle, and I only found it when I got home, guess I will be charged for that”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 18.10.2015
“The timing chips were being removed as you crossed the finish line and received your medal. Only those volunteers working the finish line would have been aware of this. Please send me a mail to [email protected] so we can get the chip back from you.”

“Thank you to the organizers and the volunteers - Thank you to the organizers and the volunteers for making this event possible. It was a lovely morning and everything worked to perfection. Regrettably the second running aid station ran out of water but this was the only negative and did not impact my overall experience.”

“Amazing encouragement and friendly competition - As a first time triathlete it was a wonderful introduction to the sport, warm and welcoming, professional, funny ( at times ) and yes hard work but so enjoyable to be doing that with such a supportive crowd, from the encouragement around the course from other athletes, to the volunteers ( thanks so much by the way) and to the friends and family shouting for every participant, couldn't wish for a better start in the sport.”

“Well organized and a super cool race! ::) - I would like to commend the overall organization of the event and the marshals are very helpful. I was not expecting to run on the sand - just a little surprised but overall okay.”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 18.10.2015
“The course information is in the RACE INFO PACK which was available for download a month before the event, and it describes the course including the sand section. Course familiarization is very important for all racers. The event photo service was very active all day and you could purchase event photos after the event. AN email is being sent today with the online link for all pics which have been uploaded for purchase.”

“Great event, a must to do on the calendar - Fantastic organization and a great first event of the season, especially commemorating Roy Nasr. Its becoming a classic and a must do on the UAE race calendar. Lovely course, despite the sand part of the run. Hassle free check in. The only remark I would recommend for next time is smaller water bottles on the run since I was feeling bad for throwing a half liter bottle that I couldn't fully drink while out of breath, and smaller bottles or cups saves water for other runners as well. Thanks”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 18.10.2015
““A lot of people like carrying water on the run which you can only do with a bottle and considering the heat I saw many people tipping he remaining contents of bottle over their head which is very wise. We have options of 330ml and 500ml bottles, but seeing how we get the larger size for same price as smaller ones, we figure that too much water is better than not enough. Adding cups on back of run aid station is an option but only as compliment to bottles.””

“Great start to the local Tri season - Another great event at Jebel Ali. Friendly family atmosphere and I truly enjoy these events (soft sand on the run and washing machine experience on the swim is now long forgotten). The full stars on the give away a is because I am happy that there was not much. I prefer a great event instead of a goody bag, and that is exactly what was delivered. ”

“Good start to the season - Great location and course, even with the sand! Cups of water would have been better and less wasteful, the aid station on the sand ran out which was tough on a hot day. Don't like the sharp left turn to the Finish Line. Missed breakfast as we keep all our race numbers and expected to be able to pay for spectators on the day - as usual. Minor things, still a great event, see you next year thank you to all involved. Love the names on the numbers, had a fantastic massage after the race - thank you!”

“Was a nice event- fun !! - Too big bottles of water, a zip only and it got thrown away. That was wasting water !! A plastic cup is very enough with half full water”

“Great event to start the season - Excellent race. Well organised and great volunteers to provide support - thank you! T1 could be improved by changing the direction of entry/exit to avoid runners/cyclists clashing at T1 entry. ”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 18.10.2015
“It used to be the other way BUT that also had issues with more challenging cross overs. Safety First, so we always give a lot of thought to all these factors to make for a great race.”
