“Excellent Event, best marshaling ever! - I do have a few suggestions compared to other 70.3's ive done. Live tracking of competitors online is becoming lots more regular, some even organise automatic updates posted to Twitter and Facebook More timing Mats, (probably not as crucial as the point above as most people have Garmins etc) A proper finishers T-Shirt, the first 70.3 I did was the Outlaw Half who provided a shirt which I wore almost constantly as it had "2015 Finisher" written across the back. Bit of free advertising;)”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 22.11.2015
“Live tracking is prohibitively expensive for an event of this size. Lots of backbone infrastructure more timing systems needed. AF.”

“Very well organized (-; - Great briefing day before event. Split transition- tough mentally. My bike was racked in wrong number so we panicked when we couldn't locate it (45 not 450). I had to dump 2 newly purchased insulated water bottles - pls explain next year so we know to bring crappy ones!!! (Pls LMK if we can claim them?!). My first triathlon in 9 years, never knew about race-me events! Great event, thank you so much to all the wonderful volunteers!Pls turn off waves and wind in 2016! I'd love to buy a T-shirt”

“GREAT ORGANISATION - I dont know where to find the official race photos, i saw people taking pictures but after the race i have not seen any of me from the few that have been posted on some social media sites”

“There was an email send out via Premier Online on Monday morning with the information about photos. Send me email to [email protected] and I will forward to you.”

“A real fun... - Everything was perfect! The only note was the food at the finish line... I would have appreciated some food there... And maybe a better organization for the busses to get back to T1. Other than that it was a real great fun... Thank You to all the people involved, organizers and volunteers... I really appreciated the day!”

“Another fab day out - A great day of sport and support. support was brilliant from organisers, marshals, aid stations etc. course good but bike ride round motor city slow due to cobbles and many bumps. wind was horrendous! T2 a bit confusing and no immediate water. Not enough toilets at beginning or end, eco loos are great but are not up to the job for 800+. If we had known about no food at end we could have brought our own. V disappointed on no finishers shirt for the fee but what a brilliant day, tx Race ME”

“Tough windy race! - Loved the race and well done to RACE.ME for pulling it off. My only complaint was the drafters. As 2 of them specifically ended up on the podiums of their age groups. Only seen 1 draft buster on course and other marshals were at turning points to marshal the turn but impossible to point out drafters at that time due to drop in speeds and cornering. Very little can be done about drafters, its a shame as most of us did that course solo while others ran on fresh legs. OK AM over it now!!! ”

Glen T. - 17.11.2015

“"Over priced" No food afterwards not acceptable! - Awesome support from volunteers, aid stations were great! Rant=You must have draft busters on stick and backside, 2 guys were drafting 30-40kms on the ride. The multiple lap course helped with aid stations, but was difficult for the volunteers to keep with the large numbers. You also need officials watching for cheaters, I saw one guy walk into aid station and left turn and skipped the first loop, this is reflected in run splits for M35-39 age group, 52min half marathon? Should be "DNF"”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 18.11.2015
“The rogue time for run we are aware of. It will be corrected on official results. Unfortunately we were stopped from having outside food vendors 3 days before event and the offering from Meydan was not what we were told or expected.”

“Amazing experience 4k km far from Home - This is my first Half Distance Tri and it was aa great experience. Maybe it's not ideal as first time ever on half distance, but it's worthworth! I have only one request for next year, ask to Wolfi's to have 2 or more vehixles cause just one only maybe it's less: what if i had problem but mecanics are 20km above?? I havent any more to suggest cause I find everything so good! Marshalls on the street, too maany volunteers on aid station, everything good”

“What was said at the race briefing didn't happen - I was a bit disappointed since it was an "international" event. Not so international after all. I was disappointed with the post race nutrition. Only water at the finish line, had to pay extra for a t-shirt. Don't even mention the long wait for the bus to take us back to JBR. I waited 90minutes for a bus and then I had to load my own bike onto a truck. Once I arrived at JBR I had to wait another 60minutes for my bike. So I only got to go home after 6pm after completing a half ironman. ”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 18.11.2015
“I have commented below about the buses. Unfortunately communication to bus drivers was lost in translation and first 5 left around 1.30pm with each only half-full. Then it was another 2½ hours until they came back to T2 - no excuses from our end and we have had a full de-brief on this internally. Sorry you were kept waiting.”

“Very Good event overall - I would like to see a better organization of the littering zone. It will take forever to clear the mess from bottles and sponges, if it ever takes place”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 17.11.2015
“The site was spotless by 4pm thanks to the diligent teams we had on-site. Very hard on the run to control zones as people carry sponges with them.”

Nigel H. - 17.11.2015

“OK but a lot to work on for the coming year - Good points: Great briefing, course was very good, marshals were brilliant, excellent medal, liked being met at the finish by local dignitary, amount of drink stations on run Improvements : Pre race info was inaccurate, maps posted were incorrect, split transition really confusing, timing chip bulky & broke (use the premier timing chip), things were being packed up when I finished which was well below cut off (demotivating), start & finish needed f&b outlets / kids entertainment”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 17.11.2015
“Hi Nigel, It is not possible to use the chip that is supplied by Premier Timing as it is not compatible with our timing systems (and vice versa). I can assure you that the maps (Run and Bike) were accurate as these are what was submitted to RTA and Police for approval. Swim course changed at last minute for safety reasons. Thx for the comments.”

“Loved the new course, hope it's here to stay! - Could do with food trucks at the finish line! There were only pringles being offered!! Great support staff in and put of transition I felt the partial road closures were well controlled and safe Water ran out at some of the aid stations Would like to see far more buoys - every 100-200m”

“Good event but the venue was better in 2014 - Good event overall - Thanks a lot 1) No finisher tee shirt was a bit disappointing 2) On the run route signage was average 3) Swim was better last year since it was sheltered 4) Villages were a bite disappointing Very good: Run location Finish line Bike course ”

“Challenging - The only down side to this event was the Bus Transportation from Dubai Endurance City back to T1 in Double Tree Hilton. We had to wait nearly 2hrs for the bus back.”

“Hi David - Unfortunately communication to bus drivers was lost in translation and first 5 left around 1.30pm with each only half-full. “Good course for participants, not for spectators - Challenging course, well organized, well marshalled. Thanks very much. However, very slow results with split times - 3 days, still not up. T2 really unappealing for family spectators - no shade, no refreshments, no food. Overall expensive, a finisher's shirt would be nice. Only time I have had to pay extra”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 17.11.2015
“Split times were posted across social media and website on Monday afternoon. There were no finishers shirts on offer - the shirt offered was a souvenir shirt. Extremely sorry about Village food. We were informed 3 days before event we were not allowed external food caterers.”

“Great event! cannot wait for next year - Swim and T1 locations were great, ride into the wind for 70% wasn't fun but an excellent P2P course, Run aid stations were excellent with the ice sponges and drinks. Needed more food options both at the run aid stations and the finish, sun screen on the run course would have been great, and a finishers shirt. Volunteers, organizers, police, and general support was all fantastic. ”

“Getting better year on year! ! - With 2 transitions zones it is not easy to find your way. Overall a very good organisation. Hard to find anything to improve. Pre-race communication was good, and volunteers during the race certainly very friendly. If at all then communication to participants can be more effective in transition especially in T2; they took the bike and then no signs or word where to go next. Again, overall an awesome event very well organised! ”

“Very organized! - This was my first tri at this distance. The 2pm race briefing was perfectly delivered to allay my fears - I really appreciated that. Also, I was impressed with how well it was organized given how much stuff had to be transported. I think for the swim there should have been more buoys for the second half (the 900m back to shore). I think there could have been more safety people on the water, especially given how rough the conditions were. very well organized event! the icy sponges rocked! ”

“Thanks! - The course was really fun, I even got to see some dear running about Bab Al Shams! The staff were amazing; great briefing, super hard working support staff - even the bus driver helped me (as I was weak) getting my bike off the bus! I would have liked faster results with splits. Also, I am sure there are heaps of overheads with a race of this nature but the price was similar to ironman entry and I don't quite feel like it was at that standard ... yet.”

“Great & Tough HIM Triathlon - 2 issues: 1- Toilets on the run were delayed and came too late (3rd and last lap) 2- Transport from the finish to T1 was late and chaotic (JBR traffic didn't helped). If it's still P2P next year, I won't rely on the organizers to get back home or to my car. Considering that it's only the second year and the challenge of a P2P race, it was an overall success. Aid Stations saved my life after I lost 75% of my nutrition. Particularly appreciated the iced drinks on the run course during all laps !”

“Tough, fair, well-run event. Chapeau... - The good: A really enjoyable and tough race. Each leg had something to offer - a short tough section into the waves on the swim, a long tough section into the wind on the bike, a really interesting run loop in the desert The finish line was very well attended/provisioned. The bad: Really tough to sight the white distant buoys against the whitish dawn sky and whitish villas in the distance. Orange might work better? Some water stops on run could be better handled/organised...”

“A great event - Top notch organization that managed to move so many people and their equipment between two transition zones. There was a great atmosphere to the race. My only minor gripe is the lack of food available - particularly for team members who finished the bike ride at DEC and weren't able to avail themselves of food on the aid stations out for the runners. The support from the wider community and especially the Police was amazing”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 16.11.2015
“Thanks for the feedback. It was our intention to have many food stalls at T2, but for reasons out of our hands we were not allowed outside food vendors and we were disappointed with the offering on the day.”

“Much improved from last year - thanks - . Yes, I understand there was blatant drafting - I hate people who do this - they know they are doing it and they are cheaters; nothing else. Yes,it was windy & the water choppy; it was the same for everyone. Getting permission for any road closures in this place is pretty much impossible. I would like for the next one.One method of communication (we had 4 and it was tricky to keep up with the updates - say Facebook only). Solid food included in the entry (pizza/sandwiches etc). One wave start!”

“Untapped potential - - : 1. It's about 36h after race and still there are no official results which is a bit ridicolous with all IT systems, chips and computers the race based on! 2. No post race food is absolutely unacceptable 3. Too many loops on running course. 4. No distance signage on running course! 5. No finisher t-shirt 6. Expensive entry fee 7. a bit less than half-iron distance 8. No fruits on aid stations 9. Not enough toilets prior to race +: 1. No loop cycling course. 2. Helpful volunteers”

“Great First Long Distance Race in the Middle East - Great opportunity for early season race in the Middle East. Felt mostly secured and safe on the cycle route. Brutal headwind being a one way cycling course. Not the most exciting running course being middle of the desert as there are not many spectators. needs more food venues for participants and spectators at the finish. However, I perfectly understand the difficulties of securing a venue to support a race of this duration. Hopefully it will continue to grow into a bigger event eventually. ”

“Overall a great triathlon - Hat's off to the organisers, really good event, lots of marshals throughout the course and especially on the bike leg where required. Made slightly logistically challenging having T1 and T2 in two locations though worked well. If there was one thing that you needed on the run course it would have been Sun Screen. I would also suggest very large bins or some form of skip to collect sponges and cups on the course as i am sure that lots will be found in the desert for some time to come. Many thanks”

“Tough Race - Was a well organised race, although I am not sure having a split transition works well in a conjested area such as JBR. The aid stations were well placed and always able to supply cold fluids or sponges. Was disappointed with the lack of food choices/vendors at the end of the race, am sure this could be a easy fix for next year. ”

Daniel S. - 15.11.2015

“It was a great experience and well organized - - We have been told that we shall receive a Finisher T-Shirt, but haven't received any. - Boats were sailing roughly next to the swimmers which caused aggressive waves on the swim, that I guess it shouldn't be a part of the challenge. - Course should been fairly pre-planned against the wind, since the head wind was so terrible on the last 30km of the ride, at least choosing a different route that might help the cyclist to finish healthy on the bike. - Event Charges were massively expensive.”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 16.11.2015
“There were no finishers shirts. Only pre-ordered souvenir shirts. Re the wind I will speak to the weather gods next time to see what he can do.”

“Great event! - I thought this was a great event! Of course there will always be areas for improvement, but hats off to the organizers as this must have not been an easy feat. From my side, one of the things about taking part in these types of events is the memento that will last long after it's all over, like the medal and the t-shirt, both of which could certainly have been a little more 'dramatic', but hey - I loved every minute of it, so hats off to race.me, the police, RTA, and the volunteers! THANKS!”

“The impossible headwind - Great event, well organized. Nothing wrong with a technical course in my opinion. Would have been nice to receive a finisher shirt for the money paid but no big deal. Saw a couple of cars crossing the bike course which isn't nice to see. Volunteers were awesome and aid stations were perfectly organized, stocked and positioned. Looking forward to the next one.”

“Great experience - Lots of goods for the whole event. Below just my thoughts on possible improvements. - location of the start?? Marina is the busiest traffic place in the middle east. Wonder what the benefit is of this location compared to the traffic and safety pay-off - motor city part of the bike track with the bumps and sharp turn at the end on to the roundabout of AQ road was very tricky - pavement of the run became tricky when all got wet - car of organisation driving on the run track ”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 15.11.2015
“Jan - Ahhhh, I found you. I humbly apologise for the inadvertent soaking you got and I fully deserved the expletives. My only excuse was in between moving water to the aid stations I received a call about a medical emergency on the run and in my efforts to not hit the runners I drove through a puddle. Please accept my sincere apologies. Andy.”

“Great event, great course. room for improvement - The event was miles better than last year. I really enjoyed the course (minus the wind!). Didn't get why there was there was no food at the end and for me that was quite frustrating. Would of paid more on my entry ticket to subsidise that and also a decent finishers tshirt. Overall, great work. Cant wait for next year!”

“Better than last year but....... - Better than last year by a country mile however still a few dangerous omissions ! Still not enough cover after the race although the the weather wasn't as hot as last year, and no food following event is unacceptable. Also bus transport back to Dubai was very poor. However if you improve again next year as you have since last well done.”

“Run course better than last year - bike a killer - Liked the run course this year - because it was not on paving stones - bike course all one way and into the wind was a killer - plus where the finish was meant that the support crowd was 20% of last year - the crowd last year was awesome - this year a let down - too far away...”

Comment from the Event Organizer - 15.11.2015
“Unfortunately what goes on behind the scenes regarding discussions with POLICE and RTA, and securing venue approval is not known by the athletes. Trying to find a venue which we shut down surrounding streets for 8-10 hours is impossible, plus the safety of athletes on the bike and run is 100% priority. Gaining permission for road closures is the biggest challenge. If you have any venue suggestions please let us know, we would appreciate it. AF.”

“Great organisation and communication - Given the weather in the build up and the split transitions, I thought the organization and the communication was excellent. On the day I experienced a very safe ride on the bike, and I really enjoyed the run course. (Although there could have a been a few more marshals at the back of the course). The only rant is nothing to do with organization - its the people who gained clear advantage from drafting who went unpunished. I know that we have to put up with, but it still irritating!”

“Well organised - Pre-event coms can be a bit more structured in this case with regard to the bags and locations for registration. The route out T1 for the bike was a bit complicated but the lane changes etc were well organized, marshaled and policed. the aid stations were from my perspective close to perfect.”

“First middle distance and loved it - Great course. Swim was a bit choppy but the layout and organisation was great. Having two transition zones really spiced it up and the run was a nice mixture of tarmac and sandy gravel. Plenty of aid stations which helped massively during the hot and tiring run. I'll definitely be back again for more. Hopefully less wind on the loop next time! It nearly broke me.”

“Great everyone involved should feel proud!!! - On the course absolutely second to none volunteers, police, and Race ME staff were ace. Live tracking would be brill? More toilets at the start and finish would be pretty good. I seemed to have a few versions of the race pack by email perhaps it would be good to cut down on these? Although I understand these things are fluid so maybe an email instead to say a pack will be sent/posted then change sections as needed? Otherwise if the body and mind are willing I will be back.”

“Wind, wind and wind.... - The volunteers and drinks/sponges on the course were superb. However, the event is not something I'd recommend to people. It's not a patch on any of the Ironman 70.3 events. I cannot believe the level of drafting that goes on here in Dubai, it was deplorable on the stick and not one bike marshall to be seen anywhere there! No post race food is frankly unacceptable. The 100dhs t-shirts were extremely poor too. I'm sure it will get better year on year as there seems to be good people organising it”

“Beautiful course, impeccable executions - Have not participated in anything that detailed and enthusiastic in UK. The helpers were fab, the supervisors on top of game and help stations perfect. “Very well organized and super helpers - I had one light blue 75ml camelpack insulation bottle upon transition from bike to run with me and it didn't fit in the green bag.
