“Loved my first Donut, cannot wait for next year!
The weather was fantastic after the rain in the early morning and it was a refreshing run.
Well organized. Would take part next time.”
“Fantastic course, mixing great scenery, good running surface, and clear marshalling. Given the preceding weather, it is amazing that Mirdif Milers managed to make it all go so smoothly. This is a club that has really got its act together. I tend to sympathise with the winner's comments about prizes. I've no objection to the most valuable prizes being awarded by lottery, but there should be a more clear distinction between lottery and competition.”
“Love coming to the Donut. Quality no nonsense event that keeps drawing us back. Basically Brilliant ”
“Great effort to keep this race on despite the European weather - thanks organizers and marshals. How encouraging that a course like this can be found as the hills and twisty course were a nice change. Camel medal and dry donuts were neat. See you in 2014.”
“Good fun, well organised and great donuts”
“Same again next year please.”
“Very good event. Made difficult this year by the weather. But all went off well”
“Great event and location, thank you to all the people who arrange this and all the volunteers who contribute to make it a must race in our calendar.
My only comment is that the toilet facilities "leave a lot to be desired" maybe the weather didn't help either.
Will still be back again though next year.
Thanks once again.”
“Hats off to the organizers for going forward with the race in spite of the weather. Those who stayed away due to a little rain missed a great event. This was my first Donut 10, but I look forward to coming back next year. ”
“This year the new section of the course was a nice change. I felt there was a part of the course I could now open my legs without an incline/hill around the corner.
Would be interested to find out if the average was quicker. Once again nice event for runners with little fuse”
“An excellent event with no frills and some great hills. Thank you to all the Milers for organising this great race.”
“Felt welcome when arriving at the park/route. Music to wake us up was great was cheered on by marshals and everyone involved! Would do it again and this time bring along a friend!!”
“So everyone wakes up at 3:30am to torrential rain...but some brave souls from Mirdiff Milers get up, find 4x4's, and go to assess the course. Incredible that the race was during the couple of hours of break between the storms, fantastic that the decision was made to race and best of all....someone managed to keep the Donuts dry!! Lovely club atmosphere...bit like a large group of friends getting together...long may the club and the race prosper. Well done all that made the day special. Thank you!!”
“It was really a nice event i participated for the first time. I have only one request when you give spot price, please put the number in a box and take the number it is better.
“Where else can you run through the trees with a bit of undulation in Dubai and then get a big sticky donut for your efforts.Well done to everyone organising and much appreciated by the running community. Can we have a luminous yellow shirt next year as we did a few years ago. Great for taking on business trips and being seenin the dark european mornings. Cheers.”
“Loved my first Donut, cannot wait for 2014, then the Silver will be mine! ”
“Very well organized from arrival at the park, to the finish. ”
“Great event indeed, salute to the organizers..I hope in the future there will be breakfast after like Dubai Creek and Emirates Hills running events.”
“It was a very exciting event that I participated for the first time. Particularly the weather was fantastic after the spell of rain early morning and it was a refreshing run. Well organized. Would take part next time.”
“Toilet facilities are poor”
“Good price , good event”
“Quite possible the best race in the world ever. If not maybe the second or third best race in the world ever. Regardless of this, still an excellent race. Thanks!”
“Very good run course that's helping to add fitness”
“No water stop before a hill”
“Thank you for arranging such fun and good race. Appreciate the hard work, hope many people realise that arranging such event is much harder than running it.”
“It was a lot of fun.
Race was well organized.
I think start should be 7:30 anyways as it is not hot at this time of year and Mirdiff is far for most runners.
I missed some additional signals to find the park.
Sport drinks in water stations.
T-Shirt (could be a technical t-shirt)
I think having 3 types of medals is a good idea, gold is too difficult though! ;-)
Thanks to the Mirdiff milers for putting together this nice event.”
“As usual this is a well arranged race and this year it was great to get official split times as well.”
“Beautiful course with an amazing view of Dubai skyline. Nicely organised and friendly club. Shame there was no bag drop but a very kind club member opened up their car for us so no problem in the end. Donuts were awesome, medal was awesome, nice spread of runners at different abilities too so very welcoming. Would definitely run it again. ”
“Extremely difficult morning for the organisers due to the weather. We all really appreciated the fact that the communications were going out early about the decision points and then the race was slightly held to ensure everyone got there safely.
Another classic race round Mushriff park and enjoyed the new course layout.”
“Perfect weather for running. Nice surroundings and tough course”
“Fantastic event, well organised, great atmosphere, and beautiful weather!”
“Thank you for putting together such a great event.
Here are things that I thought were great:
- I very much appreciated the toilet paper in the bathrooms as well as the cleaning of said bathrooms as the race was going on so that it wasn't so disgusting after the race.
- Although I couldn't stomach a donut at the end, this is a brilliant idea and should definitely continue to be part of the race package.
- Parking and getting the bib numbers was very organized.
These things could be done differently:
- It was nice to get information about the change in start time from Facebook, but maybe this information could also be sent via Premier Marathons for those who don't use Facebook.
- I imagine that it must be expensive to purchase the shirts. Although it's a great memento, I would prefer a technical shirt or vest that is not made of cotton so that I can run in it.
- It is probably also costly to have the medals made each year. It would be nice to have the date and location on it though.
- Perhaps have a designated area to drop bags off for those who arrived by taxi.
- Having water was wonderful, but maybe use more of the small cups instead of the bottles as most people don't drink the whole thing and a lot of water is wasted. I realize it's probably more of a problem with trash on the ground using the cups, but it seems as though it would be more efficient.
- Perhaps give banana halves towards the middle/end of the race.
I can't even begin to imagine how much time and energy goes into this event, and I truly appreciate all the work that everyone puts in in order for it to be such a success. I'd definitely like to help out in the future.
“The Donut 10 was a well organised event with a great course and everyone was very friendly and in high spirits despite the weather. Also I love the camel medal!”
“The Donut 10 does what it says on the tin. Always a well attended and well run event. It might not be the fanciest race on the calendar but it is one that everyone enjoys an looks forward too. Given the overnight storm there were questions about the race actually going ahead but clear communication from the organisers kept everyone up to date. Well done Milers!”
“Despite the weather the organization was great. An event that feels friendly and has a relaxed and different approach. The hills are a good test.”
“Organization was excellent - course was nice challenge and represented great training for upcoming marathon! Well one - congratulations to the entire team for an excellent event!”
“The Mirdiff Milers did a great job and put on a fantastic run.....great info on route to the carpark... lots of smiling faces...great welcome.... excellent course ... value for money +++great donuts and Fab medal. Will be back next year for sure..”
“I'll start off by thanking Naithan! What a gentleman, I woke up a little bit late, wend out in a rush and forgot my chip! he simply smiled and said: Its a bad weather day but im having a good day, wont charge the usual 50 aed! its a small amount but the gesture itself was just amazing, took my stress from being late away and helped me concentrate on my run! Thank you!
I came back from an injury, this was my first Donut and first 10k race, what really helped me get through and actually pic up my pace was the amazing and so cute kids handing us the drinks, I loved them, all of them, marshals and volunteers were great, everyone so cheerful and helpful.
Honestly, I enjoyed this one the most out of the few races I participated in, what a way to come back!
Thank you and see you next year!”
“Please pass on my praise for could so easily have cancelled in the circumstances but was a great quality running event ”
“Excellent organisation! Love the course. Well done to MM race committee!”
“First time in this event for me and what a great course - hills as well that were certainly biting a bit second time around!
Great organisation and nice relaxed atmosphere. Will be back next year.”
“I love running in the rain. I do not know how you order this weather but it was wonderful. Of course, at the finish already the sun was shining lovely.
Perfect organisation of the event.
Thanks a lot.”
“Another great Donut 10 put on by the milers today despite the early thunderstorm. Really fantastic atmosphere at the finish with plenty of inter club banter. Roll on next year!”
“I love this race and the organisers did well to avoid rain-related problems. The delayed start was a bit of a pain for those of us who were there in plenty of time but I guess it was unavoidable.
The only criticism with this race - as every year I have done it - is the loos. There is really only one for ladies and it got blocked very quickly. Please can the park open up more loos or could portaloos be provided.
Otherwise, great race, superb organisation, many thanks to all involved. ”
“I really enjoyed the course this year ! I was a little disappointed that I received a medal on just white ribbon, because they had run out of green with the year and event printed on it. Considering there was a lot of no shows due to the weather you would think there would have been more medals .. I convinced 14 people to do this run from our group and 4 of us received the white ribbon medals, they were more than disappointed considering it was their first donut race ! ”
“Super event, great course, excellent medal!
A fabulous morning. Huge thanks to the Milers and the whole organisational team for their sensible, flexible and safety conscious approach. Very happy that the event could go ahead after the overnight storms, well done to all involved.”
“Great to run this course, trees, fresh air, rain, sun, hills donuts etc. well organised and supported despite the change in weather. Well done to all involved :-)”
“Despite the uncertainty over the weather and conditions the Mirdif Milers put on a fantastic event.”
“Well done, Mirdiff Milers, on running a first-rate event and for coping with the aftermath of the storm. It was good to compete in a different kind of challenge from the other road runs in the UAE....the distance and the challenging but pleasant course. Pre-race communications were good and the course was well marked. The start was a little confusing - running for 500m before crossing the timing mats - but that didn't detract from the experience. Donuts much appreciated!”
“I really enjoyed the route around Mushrif Park and the race itself, plus the medal and donuts were excellent. However, if, like me, you had never been to Mushrif Park before, a decent map, orientated the right way (most maps point North by the way) and some directions would have been great and a dedicated race page with communications about it where they could have posted about the weather and what may or may not happen in the event of bad or severe weather. I am sure it was tricky to make on the spot calls this morning about whether or not to go ahead when there was a thunderstorm lurking (and they made the right call, well done), but unless you were a Mirdif Miler who knew to look at the Facebook page, how was anyone else supposed to have a clue what was going on? And as for the start, I never heard the instructions or the claxon that started us off, no count down or anything. They had a nice portable PA system, why not have it at the start and then move it to the finish (so that someone could say wise things like " come on number 36" - I wonder if number 36 if knew that was their number?)? So, thank you for a nice run, medal and donuts and for the all the volunteers who handed out drinks, much appreciated, but some better communication could make this even better in future.”
“Love the location, very challenging run with those bad boy hills! well organised overall but would suggest a better way of starting the race. We didn't hear any gun/ hooter/ whistle to set us off:( Other than that all great. Thanks to all for a really enjoyable morning. The atmosphere at this race is probably the best I've experienced. Very friendly, lots of chatter and happy smiley faces, may be its the donuts! Thanks ”
“Really good run - Organisation was great, along with the communications ahead of the event in light of the 'Inclement' weather!
Weather conditions actually helped to make it a great run. I'd never ran at Mushrif Park before, but it was a great course with a good mix of elevation and flat track.
Great work Milers!!! ”
“Great timing to have this 10 mile race ahead of the half marathon. Terrible t shirt though this year. Please can we have proper running shirts back again next year. Thanks very very much to the organisers and volunteers. Lovely job”
1- I am not an owner of a classic championchip, so what do i get to see when i log on to premiertimings? nothing? just my finish time? well thank you so much (i already knew that)... this is so disappointing. Would it really hurt anyone to display the detailed results to everyone?
2- Anyone could have easily made a U-turn in some points of the races, not enough chip mat scanners
1- Awesome effort by the organizers, marshals, volunteers
2- I like how the medal colors reflected finishing time
3- Course was amazing, enjoyed the donuts and happy to get my shirt :)
4- Everyone was so nice and friendly
Overall race, Enjoyed it so much, worth every penny i paid, thanks to everyone who had this organized and made it such an awesome event. Hope my comment on the results will be reflected in future events (even this one if possible).
“It is good to have a race between 10k and HM ”
