“I want to go to pass my urine in the mobile toilet but staff did not allow me to go there even after re guesting ,due to which I loss more then 10 min ,I cannot run continuously Please try to avoid such a incident in future. ”
“Good race,Well organised event.”
“Great event but the weather is still hot”
“It was my first time to participate in such a run. Great fun and great atmosphere. Looking forward to participating once again. Would love a night event when the temperatures are cooler. :)”
“Pls bring some fruits and juices for the runners after the race!”
“Enjoyed the race until last 3k because I couldn't get any water, it was very hot, I wasn't the only one who found this a problem, maybe next year more water stations towards the end of the 10k.”
“As many people have already said, I think it would be much better to have this race mid to late November. I also feel that it is a bit pricey for a 10k race. But overall it is a well organized event. ”
“Great to have events in Doha like this. Thanks to organization and organizers. Somehting to consider:
- Water stations: Baddly distributed and some with no water, no cold water despite the 30C + degrees
- Giveaways: Bad quality T-shirt with poor design, would be great to have something nicer to run with it afterwards.
Thanks again for coordinating this. Happy to discuss
“I took part in the 10k and in the last water sport there was no water, even the marshals was drinking some water and refused to give me some. I got dehydrated and i had to walk the rest of the course not to die in the heat of Doha. ”
“Hats off to organizers to for this awesome event. Positives Race started on time, smooth bib collection, enough water station, good arrangement for food.
Can be improved : Distance Markers, Give away, Fruits , Sports Drink”
“Huge negative mark - I ran the 10K - my 1st race ever in 1 hour & 2 seconds. My time has been logged under the 5K race. I have sent requests for correction, but have received no acknowledgment. Though I know what I accomplished, it would be nice to see it in correct place.”
“Very we'll organised, bit too early in the year as was a bit too hot, also on the same day as another race, no races for nearly 6 months then 2 on the same day?? Water stations could do with being a bit closer together. I had a problem with my number, in that I got it completely wrong, but a new one was easily made and tracked.... Sorry about that. I LOVED THE SPRINT FINISH”
“I thoroughly enjoyed the event, the course was a nice one and there were water stations at every kilometer. The timing system was also a very luxurious one, timings were uploaded online on stuweb.co.uk.
However, I wished that there would've been better pre-event communications, since all the participants received was one email a week prior to the event. Also, the price of the event is too costly for it's category and should be re-considered for the future iterations.
Overall it was amazing!”
“Great event, most importantly because of the high number of runners participating at any level, and yet keeping it all well supervised. Number collection in the morning without jams or hassle, brilliant to keep us in relaxed mood. Minors: registration money is high, not enough shadowed places at start/finish, put the time results machine (the one that gives you that little paper with your name/time) at the finish and let someone hand it out along with the medal. Keep organizing!”
“Gatorade, no Coca-Cola ”
“A well organised event, good support on route. A twisty route but did make it easy for family to see the race at various stages. Only comment is as the overall winner I have a little trophy which says I won the sub veteran cat 35-40 which is correct but I was also the overall winner. This being my first race, of hopefully many in Qatar, I was rather hoping to have an acknowledgement of winning the overall race. I cant help being in a sub vet cat and winning overall. Overall, a great race.”
“The supporters and organizers were amazing for this event. ”
“Overall, a successful event, I really enjoyed the cheering sections along the route.
My 2 issues were water and distance signage. I was mostly walking so I only made it to 1 water station that had water (the first one), after that no water until a guy in a cart brought me somewhere after the 4 km mark.
the only signage about distance was the 2/7KM mark. I would like to see one more distance sign, maybe around the 4KM mark. As a slow runner/walker it would be nice to know much further.”
“Event was well organized, started on time, and enough support staff were available to assist. The weather was really warm even though the race was at 7am, I would suggest pushing the race to late November next year. I would also like to recommend more water stations, and for the water to be cold - not very thirst quenching to drink warm water. Finally, bigger, clearer, more frequent signs for each KM would have been appreciated. ”
“Would love to actual see a running clock above the finish line so runners can see their timings as they come through their first lap and also as coming down the home straight. Also think could of had more water as some stations had run out near the end.”
“Even though the run was early morning, I found the temperatures too high. Last year the event was organized at the end of Nov. I would like to suggest to organize it end Nov or even Dec. If it will be end Oct again, I will not participate next year”
“More water during the race could be better”
“The future races need to be when the weather is cooler. It was very hot.
The organizers didn't know where the timing machine was to get the results. I asked a few and no one knew.
There should be better food variety and also there should be coffee, tea and juices not just cokes.
The signs of the KMs need to be more visible. ”
“It was great and a lot of fun.”
“Chip timer was not included in the kit”
i would like to inform you that it was woderfull event i enjoy it”
“The events should rather be held at its traditional time of the 3rd weekend in November. It is still too hot end October. Also, it should seriously be considered to change the current two loop format to afaster one loop. This can be arranged at Aspire but other venues such as the Corniche or the Pearl (as it was in 2011) should be considered. Two loops are never preferred.”
“On the second lap there was no water available at one of the stations which was not great given the heat. Also the distance markers were not clearly placed.”
“Great Organization & Race”
“Good event, but needs to be moved later in the year. Too hot still to run decent times. Last year the 22 NOvember date was better.
Give aways exactly the same as previous years with only a date change is getting a bit boring. ”
“Doha College Run (both this and the Night Run ROCKS!!!!)
Thank You for the Initiative and keeping this going.
All the Best for the new campus !!!
Winoo (Bib #7)
A big Thumbs UP to Premier Online for the tech support. ”
“My first race in Doha and I was very impressed by the organisation of the event. Well done to the event staff on the day
I would like to question why the event was held 2 weeks earlier than past events as the heat did play a big part on the day and effected people's race
Any rants? The results service - only by doing a google search did I find the link to Stuweb. Nothing could be found here on Premieronline and at least I would have expected some link on the e-mail we received before the race”
“A well organised event. The course was a bit narrow in places creating some pinch points. Minor points, well done to all.”
“After race some fruit would have been nice...”
“...concerning the breakfast after the race: no coffee, no croissants ???
But overall, very well organized! Thanks
“Last Year's event was held a month later which was much better as the weather this year was still very hot and humid. ”
“Breakfast was great but I would have liked to see bananas & chocolate milk too. Otherwise great event. Big thank you to organisers and volunteers!”
“Thank you for your dedicated hours to create the Doha College run. I did the 5K and really enjoyed it. It is well organized and I especially appreciate all the volunteers who are there to help out so early.
Please consider having the race later in the year! Not only is October still really hot to run, but the scorching Doha weeks leading up to it make it nearly impossible for a very amateur running to train outside.
Thanks again for all you do!
“This was my first ever organised run. Thanks to the organisers and volunteers for a great experience. There are a couple of things that would have improved it for me - the water stations were too far apart and would have been better on both sides of the rioad so not to have to run across runners. And distance markers every kilometre would also have helped. Can you also turn the heat down a bit next time ;)”
“The race was a few weeks earlier this year than last and the day was much hotter. Hard work for those chasing times and PB's.
The course is a bit uninspiring considering it is next to a great park that was not used.
I did not notice distance markers (does not mean they were not there)
Entry fee is on the high side.
Those small moans aside it is a really well run event, well organised, lots of marshals, good atmosphere.
I plan to be back next year.”
“It was ok and I've enjoyed it and with the next time to be the best .thanks ”
“Some distance markers along the race course would be nice. It would also be nice if the timing result printout can also show the participant's position of finish in his/her entry category.”
“I liked the precision of the distance, it was accurate . The organization overall was good, some water stations ran out of water in last kms for the 10K, the quality of the medal looks cheap.”
“It was great race for me i finished 17th overall in 10k
but it was sunny and hot in the second have of the race”
“It would have been nice to have a sign for the 4 km mark of the race and for the marshals to cheer more along the road, and a bit more friendly and encouraging at the finish straight and the pack collection. Also do a bit more at the start as there was confusion from what side of the line to start and when it started.”
“Timing? Winners time? Maybe some fruit on arrival and some other details.
Overall...grest event, awesome volunteers and so much fun...eager to repeat”
“Great effort, well done everybody”
“Although weather condition today was bad - but the course, the support stations, marshals and the giveaway were just awesome. Doha College can work on the medals though (not good quality).
I love all events organized by Doha College. ”
“Every thing was perfect, I like it
just at my medal there is some dirt, and I feel the quality was not that good.
overall I will participate next year”
“Good race. Only complaint is no count down at the starting line. We couldn't hear in the back. Could have been announced on loudspeaker. And there should have been fruit at the food stations at the finish. ”
“Great race! keep it up!”
“Unfamiliar with Aspire & taxi not sure where to go so a long walk.
Would have preferred separate starts for 5 & 10
Results could have identified winners times
Not keen on a redo lap for the 10 km
Seems a pity a great venue & track & the run was on cobblestones
Different color bibs easy to follow others & pace
Medal to identify 5 or 10 km not both on same medal
Fruit seemed to be missing from the food venue
Had a good run, enjoyed the atmosphere & would do it again.
See you in December.”
“As usual, the Doha College 10km race was very well organised and executed - other race organisers should take note. My only criticisms are that it was scheduled for too early in the season, leaving runners less time to prepare and weather conditions likely to be warm and humid, as they were this morning; and also, there was no water left at 8km, and that was at under 50 mins, so it was a bit early to have run out. Thank you for another great race experience.”
“Good run...a bit too early in the year-very hot. Not enough water stations or km markings. I saw only one marking and the second had fallen down. ”
“The event is fantastic, but I tho there was a few corners at the start of the race and it got very congested. Maybe the 10k runners could start first.
It was also so warm, can we have it back in mid November
Great run and I will be taking part again next year. Well done”
“I think using bottles of water is a bad idea. Not only producing a massive amount of physical waste (garbage) but also wasted water. Many runners, myself included, only needed a quick sip, a splash on the head, then tossed the bottle and wasted 50% of the water. A crucial water stop on the back half of the course was out of water on my second lap, while there were still runners out on their first lap. Also, quite expensive for a 10k.
Otherwise a good experience, great volunteers.”
“Hi everyone, great organization but some bemols on the path... Close to main roads, no greenery, and no shadow... Such a hit day it was.. Minor detail : after finish, i Got a nice bag with a tee shirt which I left a second to grab some water. all has gone and when I asked for another one, I ve been told "no way, we just have the right number". It was my very first race, I would have loved to get a souvenir...”
“Could be held later in the year, so that it is a bit less hot.
Could we get a watch company to sponsor a timer clock at every km mark. Helps you pace your run.
If held when it is cooler, may get more people to cheer the runners. What makes a race successful is the size of the crowd cheering. That is where the London marathon out scores every other marathon. The crowds are fantastic and along the whole route.
Three cheers for the volunteers. Great job guys. ”
“Clearer KM marker points needed. Ensure water stations do not run out of water!!!! Excellent otherwise.”
“I thought the orgainsation was fab, easy to get numbers and somewhere to store bags, great route and lots of volunteers giving out water, I would say that some volunteers who should of been supporting runners in some spots where just sat chatting, one young man though was great at keeping spirits up with high 5s, wish there had been more like him, overall loved it, and the breakfast was a bonus ! Thanks ”
“How do you find out your time?”
“Good but needs shade at end. Distance signs small and fell down (one bit of blue tack). No direction how to get times at end. Over all good comments only to improve. No information on where the money goes- which charity. If non then there should be. Also could be more shade on route.”
“Very good event. Only thing I missed was coffee before and after the run.”
“The course was too narrow in the first kilometer”
“First race since moving to Doha. I really enjoyed it, apart from one thing - the most exposed water station on the course at around 7-8k had run out of water when I got there on the second lap, and I really suffered from not getting any when I expected it.
Apart from that a first class event, and I'll definitely be back next year.”
“Improvements: clock at finish, signs showing kilometer markers”
“A great event. Everyone really friendly and welcoming. All levels catered for and valued.
Earlier than last year so hotter and would be better mid November.
More obvious km markers would be helpful for us novice runners who don't have Garmins. ”
“Unfortunately a hot humid day, but this is partly due to the event in October this year rather than in late November as previously.
Very well orgainised and extremely well run. Good medals, shirts food and drink at the end.”
“There was an issue with some water stations running out of water..... probably just a blip in an otherwise well run event”
“Excellent volunteers and well run. It was extra hot so some of the water stations ran out of water at the end. ”
“I think the race should be organised later on in the year, as in the past (after Nov.15th, only two weeks can make a difference.
Also, this year the water stations were placed quite randomly, there was a gap greater than 2km between the first and the second and we had to run that distance in ful sun and no wind, so that was quite brutal.”
“It was a nice untroubled experience, the event was well organised, the pre-race email communication was good and the route signage without any troubles. However the quality of the t-shirt and the medal can be improved. I will do it again. Cheers.”
“Well done to the organisers for a smoothly run event.
My feedback would be: given how hot it was there was not enough water available around the course; perhaps the race needs to be done in November next year when it's a bit cooler!”
“Some sections were narrow, but that is just me finding something to mention.......all in all, very well organized and enjoyable event!”
“Very well organised, great fun, thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to participate in a well organised race in Doha!”
“Some confusion at the beginning with bib numbers (so everyone needed to double check the bib on the board again).
Overall good organisation & I would do it again!”
“Just love the encouragement from the volunteers...I love you guys!!!”
“Loved community feel, people very friendly and supportive and great volunteers placed around the race to cheer us on. However, the start was chaotic with no clear direction about which way to line up.You could do with 1 more water station and more working toilets - some portacabins ran out of water to flush before the race started. Your timing was also very out - by at least 30 seconds in my case - possibly you activated the chip too soon which was disappointing.Fruit at the end would be great!”
