“Disappointing - Having done the a Dubai Creek half marathon the week before this was a huge step down. Long delays at the start, very poor distance signage, nothing to eat at the end of the run and no acknowledgement of the winning athletes as they crossed the line. The only reason I would do it again is because I live in Al Ain.”

“Not bad for a "Young" event - For me i got to run a good 10km whilst spending a weekend away from Dubai with my family, so the rest of the bells & whistles dont really matter. I had a PB on the day, even with the killer grass finish :). The event will get better with experience & more people. Thanks to everybody involved! ”

“Nice ... - Weather was very nice, the trees and the route was superb out of the club, start of the race was well organized, got a medal, race was timed, got a photo, certificate, nice opportunity to come out and run. Improvements required: Better signage, distance markers at every kilometer, isotonic drinks at the support stations, better route layout without loops, definitely a better medal. Even more awesome improvements: race t-shirt, some food at the finish line - at least bananas, and high res photos.”

“Not worth my drive from Dubai starting 4.15 am - First time participant so had worries of finding the location and then reaching on time to collect the number bib. The Run was totally flat. The run finish was very demotivating, to go back to the circle the run to took from starting point and then come back. They could increase the loop after 11k and finish straight at the point started the run. Ending on 700 meter grass stretch was also killing. Except water and medal nothing. Surely could afford some sports drink and one banana the least.”

“An enjoyable low key half marathon - I enjoyed the quiet relaxed atmosphere of this event. I felt that the route could have been more interesting - I was disappointed that is was a loop. Some parts of the course were not well marked - particularly towards the end - it would have been very easy for people to take short cuts! It would have been great to have more km markers for the last 5 km - it was hard to judge how much further you had to run. Would have been great to get some additional fluids in addition to just water.”

“Overpriced event, not accurate km, poor giveaways! - For the 2nd time around, it is actually a drop fall from last year's inaugural race! The distance is still not a full half marathon length. Course is pretty boring running on an empty street, only highlight is the finish at the rugby stadium. Pack collection experienced long queues, and poor event giveaways (small towel only), medal was actually a downgrade from last year's, simple sticker on it, coffee/tea for a fee, no fruit or snacks after race. Not worth it if you're coming from DXB or AUH.”

“Still baby stage. Need much improvement. - -More advertise, more runner and more audience. It was just running alone. -More stuff for water support. When I came to the first aid, it was not ready. -More good prize and more chance for some categories. -Clear direction of route. I made mistake two times. -Some timing record(5km, 10km, 15km...) is better.”

“Not Happy - Not happy with the way the event was organized and executed. As a beginner runner, the least i was expecting was a photo at a finish line which was not uploaded even though it was clicked. These photots are major motivators for beginners to continue the running in feature. I am very disappointed, having driven overnight to participated in a race and not to have good momentos (no t-shirt, no engraved medal, no photo). The volunteers were very supporting tho' for last finishers like us.”

“A good fast course... if a little short of 10K - I really enjoyed this race, the course was well laid out however upon crossing the finish line my gps watch (along with several other peoples) had the course 200m short of 10K. The organisation was really good and my thanks go out to the volunteers. I do think the race 'swag' could have been better, billboards outside the rugby club advertised t-shirts; no race t-shirts. The race towel had no mention of the actual race on it and the medal claimed me to be a finisher of the half?!”

“A little low key - The event was nice enough, even if it seemed a little 'home-made' at times. The course itself was nice and easy (especially for a novice like myself). When I signed up I understood that I would be able to collect the race pack from Abu Dhabi, but then found out it was on the morning only which meant I had to get there earlier than I had wanted to. My finishers medal was for the half marathon, which is not the event I competed in. The marshals and volunteers on the course were encouraging.”

“Decent low-key event....good course for PBs - This is a solid, honest race for runners who want to challenge themselves. The course doesn't get the pulse racing, but it's just right for having a crack at personal bests. For me, the thing most lacking was the absence of isotonic drinks at the otherwise very good support stations. Shame not to receive a t-shirt and yes, the medal is very ordinary....but I enjoyed the run, set a PB, appreciated the relaxed vibe....and I hope I'll be back next year.”

“Improved from last time but needs work - The course had improved since last year but I still am not overly fond of it. All the doubling back wasn't nice. For the price comparatively it isn't that worth it. No breakfast or even snacks, but lots of water... I'd say cut your water stations down and instead provide some fresh fruit at the finish line. As stated by others the lack of t-shirt giveaway even though it was stated on the signs was confusing. Thanks for organising, and good luck for next year I'm sure you'll do better.”

Put markets every km - this would be easy - and make the results available on the internet, if not in real time, then on the morning of the event at least. But I will race it again next year.”

“Good but could do better - The course layout at the end should not go past the finish. the final loop should be taken out and the distance put in the middle - say to another roundabout. Psychologically it is not pleasant to run past the finish and know that you still have another 4-5k to go. plus, the grass field at the end is extremely slow and should be halved. the water stations were great. pity no breakfast”

“Glorified Training Run with Potential! - I would like to praise Al Ain for putting on an event. Its hard to compete with the Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Yet and still there were some simple race basics that were extremely lacking. The most glaring was the absence of a time board at the start and finish. There was also no distance markers throughout the course. Lastly, there were no giveaways other than a towel and cheap medal. The lack of corporate sponsors showed. I will not return. Not worth risking my life in dense fog for a train run.”
