“The only negative thing about the race were the jellyfish in the water but that of course has nothing to do with the organization. I enjoyed the race and looking forward to the next one.Thank you ”
“Would love to have more giveaways, vouncher and also good drinks when running (not only water)”
“Your timing is very poor where did you get my time in swimming?
i came out of the water before my friends, how come my timing got longer than them.? ”
“Great organization overall - nice marshalls, nice track for the run and for the bike. just disappointed by the swim (one buoy was not visible). could improve timing services by recording the transition times. Can't access the photo service. ”
“First Triathlon effort for me. I am probably the worst swimmer this event have ever seen, if anyone can call me a swimmer! It was a nice experience though and I liked it. Here are my remarks: no-one was checking the turnaround spots, anyone could cheat. We need some cold water at the stations please! Road was not really closed for the bikes, neither for the runners... Finisher medal was great, only wish it was awarded by a girl! See you next time.”
“My overall experience is great and i will do it again with pleasure.
The water stations ran out of water and had no ice.
“Great event! Would be more good if all the buoys stood up on the swim leg and more water at aid stations! Body numbers would be better as well. Would appreciate if participants can keep the race numbers as souvenir. Photo link is not working. Other than that all good! ”
“My individual stage times were not recorded, not sure why but a fool proof system would be nice!
Would also be good to the get the results in an excel sheet. ”
“It's great that there are folks dedicated to providing these events for the community. Honestly, thanks to SuperSports for setting up this series. However, you have to be ALL IN if you are going to do this. Athletes safety is an obvious reason and running out of water is unacceptable. On a much less important note - my experience has been to enjoy racing for three reasons - The experience and "feel good" factor, a t-shirt and food! You are 1 out of 3 - in my experience. ”
“Expected more from such an established series
Swim - remove or sink the rope for next event, cuts are just irritating
“1. Why can the rope not be weighed down at each end for the race to stop cuts
2. Very poor aid stations especially on a hot day
3. Very poor refreshments at finish
4. A 'cheap' feel to the event, felt like it was a money making scheme rather than looking after the athlete
5. Very cramped transition
6. Lack of support staff in transition / around the start”
“Love the course, however participants should have been warned the water was infested with jellyfish to decide whether it is safe to race. Conditions should have been checked beforehand and communicated. Still suffering with the abundant stings. Ran out of water in aid stations - again. The late finishers are the ones that need it the most. Have spent hours trying to access the photos with no luck.”
“Always good fun but when are the organisers going to take care of everyone by ensuring that there is enough water on the course and at the end? Is it unreasonable to ask for them to over order the amount of water they need? Sorry but not good enough.”
“First time at Mamzar - a nice venue - but feeling let down: *water ran out on the run course (and at the finish for many), *the immediate race results were wrong and I got a 2nd place when it should have been 3rd (embarrassing - and I wasn't alone) and then *the chip didn't register all our split times. We'd been warned about the rope in the water and the jellyfish are an ongoing hazard at the moment but now I'd like to look at the race photos and even the link we were emailed isn't working. ”
“Neither aid stations on the run were properly manned.
It was a question of either stopping and waiting for them to fill up cups or doing without.
“Aid stations ran out of water on the run which was a bit tricky!”
“Water stations need to be improved”
“Rope on the swim is still an issue, open water start clears it at the beginning but still cut up on the way in, it’s dangerous and people again cut up as a result.
Sighting with the sun is very difficult on the swim, more markers mid-way would assist with sighting or kayaks to assist.
Marshals on the course didn’t help, on the turnaround by the roundabout there was no assistance on the sharp u turn.
There was no marshal to the run turnaround, just a sign.
Ran out of water
“Overall, I enjoyed the route and the event. However, a few things could be improved- there was not enough water at the support stations or at the end of the race for all participants, there should also be a larger variety of beverages other than water such as gatorade or other electrolyte beverages. ”
“No water on a hot run or post race - pure negligence and utterly unacceptable.”
“I will not spend much time commenting on the blatant rule breaking such as ipods, no shirts on the run and drafting as they were very minor compared to the unavailability of cold water on the course. For such an expensive entry, one would expect the basic minimum of cold water at aid stations and at the finish - none of which were found. Suggest that triathletes bring their own water if this cannot be provided, at half the registration fee.
The goodie bags were pathetic. Would not recommend.”
“I like this race and I'll come back for sure. I know it's not easy to organize such an event so a great thanks for the organizers...
Now the bad points : too much drafting (I don't care as I'm racing against my time but I don't like to see people cheating and not being penalized), empty WATER stations !!!
“Nice course, organization was okay. On the to be improved side, the aid stations were poorly set up and poorly manned and to run out of water is quite simply unacceptable!!! Wouldn't participate again unless organization is stepped up”
“Great event and very nice course.
My only complaint would be the lack of water on the running course and the fact it was warm water at the finish
There could be recovery drinks available at the finish”
“This was my 2nd triathlon after competing in the Roy Nasr MT 2014 the week before. I'm not sure if that event set my expectations artificially high but I felt this event was poor in comparison. There were a collection of problems including:
- Water station running out of water. This is just unacceptable in 36 degree heat
- The 2nd buoy marker on the Olympic swim collapsed, so not only were we swimming into the sun but I had no visual marker, this made sighting incredibly
run out of space..”
“Other than the "sea lice" which was beyond your control, the event was well run for the Sprint distance - timings for the medals ceremonies could have been clearer”
“One for the tri calendar. well organised as usual”
“The freebies were rubbish!
The finish line was cramped.
The drinks stations were poorly sourced with liquids.
There was no water at the stations or at the end for the Tri-ers from about 2/3rds of the field onward.
Poor one guys, get a grip.”
“Good supportive crowd and competitors.
Course was fine, although would be better not to have to do laps on all the disciplines.
Sea lice were itchy, but then that is unavoidable in the sea at this time of year.”
“I like the course and enjoy the simplicity of the route.
Its great to have children take part but they do need more instruction to keep right on the road and not weave all over the road - potential for a crash if a rider tries to pass.
Parents in transition leaning on my bike meant I passed my transition point missed my bike. Have a separate place for U18 transition.
If children cannot rack bikes - let them use barriers on sides.
Like the community feel but need to sort the U18 aspect out.”
“Prior to the event I was warned that each time this organiser runs an event they run out of water on the course and true enough it happened yesterday. Not only did they run out of water on the course but also on the finish. This is unforgivable and dangerous given the heat and distances. Does the organiser have to wait for someone to fall ill before they start to spend a few hundred dirham extra for each race to provide water??? ”
“Shocking that the water stations on the run ran out of water. The sprint distance must have been fine but starting the 10km run and having no water is not great.
Then when finishing....no water at the end.
Don't let it happen again as the 10km was hot with little shade”
“Great event - good location and course. Two suggestions though:
- Tiered pricing for Sprint vs Olympic, doesn't make sense to have the same.
- Wave starts within each distance. With 3 turning bouys on a short and tight course it meant people swimming on top of people the whole way.
“While the venue and course are some of the greatest in Dubai, organisation has become more focused on running things on tight budget/maximising profit rather than caring about the overall experience, health and safety of participants. There was no water or recovery drink offered at the finish.the transition area is not guarded and bikes/equipment are exposed to theft.I'm noticing that smaller events organised by others are by far more professionally done.”
“Adult bikes racked next to kids bikes resulted in the 2 kids either side of me not being strong enough to rack their own bikes and one just threw his bike on top of my stuff on the ground. Kids parents also in the transition area. Unacceptable organisation of transition. A warning about jellies in the briefing would of been courteous. ”
“Improve the race pack collection and the drink service on arrival”
“Didn't like being rammed by the safety kayak, even when I was on course in the swim.
Despite warning the organiser about a fault in the biking rules, it wan;t changed.
Transition security was very poor
Good place for a race!”
“Since I was doing sprint I was lucky enough to get any water at the aid stations unlike some people...
Other than that though it was awesome and well organised. The course was good apart from swimming over a barnacaley rope which was quite unpleasant. I love the medal. It's so much better than the one in previous events”
“You ran out out of water on the course (unforgivable)
you have not sorted out the rope across the start/finish line cover in barnicals, cut to shreds
no cold water at the end, get some ice”
“Water stations on the run had no water and if they had it was warm. Last people were alone on the course and no one would've know if any of them needed help or collapse.
Well organized but no support on the run. You cannot only look after the first people, the last ones need way more support than the first ones. ”
“The support stations need more water, I was quick and already on the last 2.5 k there was no more water at the last water station and a lot people to come. better to order more water, enough is better then less...”
“Well run but some of the water stations were not water, and those are critical for the athlete, also in the first water station the cups were gone and the people were picking then up from the floor and then putting water again, mmmm I am not agree with that.
Also we used to keep the race numbers and for many people it is a collection of GOALS and Challenge, so please considered this for the next race.
But over all great event and see you next time”
“With so many doing this event, you have got to provide additional toilets for the event if you keep it at this location. It was very difficult just before the start with only 2 toilets available... Simply not enough.
“3rd time I race because I love the location. However, I'm shocked the organiser is STILL failing to offer enough water for runners. 1st & 2nd times we said it was just an accident, but that's the 3rd time and I'm borderline insulted. I'm sorry but so much effort goes into organisation: course, volunteers, sourcing all these sponsors... Buying WATER and ICE to make it COLD is too complicated?
Please get on par with other race organisers or have the decency to warn racers about the lack of water.”
“Now Im Very abset, not the 1th time, I have not been reward.”
“All good but not enough water, there was no more water at the second station on lap 2. There was not enough water at the finish.”
“Liked the course and think the start and transition worked ok. Nice closed roads and good roads for cycling on. Poor plannign on the water front with a station on the course running out and at the end - I was lucky to finish before this happened but felt for those people still out on the course in the heat!!”
“The water was full of jellyfish. My body still itches.”
“Great course which was well marshaled and good signage on route. Start and finished well organized.
The only negatives would be the jellies (which I know is out of your control) and my hubby and kids couldn't get anywhere near the finish line as Police not letting them drive through and was too far to walk for a toddler.
When will the results be up?
Looking forward to the next one! :-) ”
“Not enough water in run (olympic) on second round run (in both refuel station). It was only thing which needs to be next time better organized.
Overall great race.”
“Great race, I like how the swim start has changed into a water start and you don't have to deal with that evil rope so much.
A bit more space on the transition rack would be good next time, I oddly managed to be put next to someone who had the same swim and bike speed as me (sods law!).
I was also impressed with the 9 year old who did the sprint triathlon - what a hero!”
“I found out after looking at my Garmin that the Swim part was 860 mt compared to the 750 mt communicated. it is a pity because comparing results with previous competitions becomes difficult. i remember last year the swim part was below 750 mt and the run part was around 4.6KM.
However overall the competition is properly organized.
“This was a super event from start to finish. My only little request would be some more room at the transitions as some idiot decided to move my stuff whilst he got changed from the swim to bike, which was because we were crammed in like sardines. Otherwise i will be back for race 2 ”
