First held in February 2012, the Desert Road Run is held several times a year, appealing to all elements of the running community - from first time social runners, to some of the best UAE based athletes.
Organised as a community event in which runners of all abilities are encouraged to participate, the Desert Road Run now features three distances; 10km, 5km and 3km. All races are run on private roads over a safe, traffic free course.

• Race Pack Collection:

  All runners registered by 19th October have the opportunity to collect race numbers before race day at CAFFE NERO on Saturday 22nd October from 9am to 10.30am at Motor City, next to Spinneys - Look for the man sitting down with lots of race numbers! (Note race pack collection is only at Caffe Nero at this time and date, it is not possible to pick up your race number from there at any other time)
  Please collect your race number before race day if you can, this cuts down on queues on race morning. Race numbers can be picked up on the day of the race from 5.45am at The Sevens (the race venue). If you collect your number on race day, we urge you to arrive early to avoid queues.
  Note that it is not possible to register for the race on race day, under any circumstances.

• Parking:

  Parking at The Players Club, The Sevens, Al Ain Road, Dubai

• Before the Race:

  Run start times are 6:45am for the 10km/5km and 6:50am for the 3km.
  The races start ON time, if you are late you WILL miss the start – we recommend arriving at least 45 minutes before race start.
  For the location, google 'The Sevens Stadium Dubai'. When you arrive, park in the Players Club car park which is signposted. The start area is in the village area, behind Costa Coffee. Toilets, changing rooms and showers are available.
  For the race start, please gather BEHIND the start line 5 minutes before race start.

• Do I have to run? Can I walk? Can I push my baby in a stroller?

  Our runs attracts runners of all ability. Hence many in each run will walk for a period of time, which is quite ok! Parents that wish to push their baby in a stroller are welcome to participate, all we ask is that those with strollers start at the back, so as not to impede other runners. Aside from baby strollers, participants are not allowed to use any other wheeled or alternative form of propulsion, for the safety of all.

• Important:

  Please ensure that your race number is held securely at the front of your vest with 4 safety pins and that it is VISIBLE AT ALL TIMES to race marshals, especially at the finish. There are safety pins provided for each race number. Please do NOT run through the finish line more than once (ie with friends that have finished behind you), as this causes problems recording finish times and positions and your race time WILL be voided. Instructions on how to wear your timing tags: You are provided with TWO timing tags. Loop only ONE tag through the LEFT HAND lace of each of your shoes, fasten your shoe laces and let the timing tag hang freely on the LEFT hand side of your shoe. Repeat for your right shoe, so that you have one tag hanging from left hand side lace of each shoe. Do not tuck the tags into your shoes. Please ensure timing tags are worn as directed, or it is very likely that your race time will not be recorded.

• Results and Photos:

  Links to results will be posted on www.sportsystems.co.uk/ss/results and the Desert Road Run Facebook page within 24 hours of the race, usually much sooner. Race photos from the race day (so long as the photos are suitable for publication) will also be published on the Desert Road Run facebook page, are free to access to all and are edited and posted at a number of times in the days following the run.

• During the Race:

  The 10km/5km runs will start first, so 3km runners should wait until the 10km/5km has started before lining up to start. Faster runners should start nearer to the front, slower and inexperienced runners should start at the back. Only enter the start area when instructed. Take notice of cones that mark the start/finish area and the course that you need to run on. Note that overall race results are based on gun time, as is the international standard for running events.

• After you finish:

  After finishing the run, please remove your timing chips and give them to the person at the medal table – your returned chips will be exchanged for a finishers medal. No chips, no medal, so keep them safe once you finish.

• Start Location:

  'The Sevens Stadium' Village central area in front of the grandstand pitch.

  Trophies for first 3 in each age category. Trophies for overall winners in each distance.

  7 water stations on 10km including finish. 4 water stations on 5km including finish. 2 water stations on 3km including finish.
