Al Marmoom Ultramarathon offers 3 challenging distances; the world’s longest desert ultra-run, a record breaking 300 km over 5 days as well as continuous 110 km and 50 km ultra runs.

All three distances are self- sufficient, with water and tents supplied, and across desert terrain in the breath-taking Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve, Dubai UAE.

Terrain will change from hard sand tracks to soft moving dunes, and the route will include overnight camping, 5 stages and regular check points.

AMUM 2019 will test physical strength and mental stamina as participants take in the stunning desert landscape and see indigenous and migratory wildlife.

Elite runners from across the globe as well as regionally, will take on the ultimate challenge of the record breaking desert ultra- run whilst the shorter distances are the ideal choices for ultra-runners who want to experience the magic of the Arabian desert and test their limits of physical and emotional endurance. AMUM is for individuals and teams of individuals who want to test their limits and take on the ultimate challenge of a lifetime.

    On Pre-Check days in the Base Camp:

    300 KM: Sunday 8th December, 2pm
    110 KM: Tuesday 10th December, 2pm
    50 KM: Thursday 12th December, 2pm

  • Is there a luggage deposit available?

    Luggage deposit will be made available to all runners. While maximum care and security will be enforced, the organizer will not be responsible for any loss or damaged items. Participants who choose to leave items at the luggage deposit may do so at their own risk.

  • Will there be Live Streaming?

    Al Marmoom Ultramarathon will be live streamed on the event website, Facebook, Twitter, broadcast media and available on mobile phones, and other personal devices.

  • Who will be available in case of emergency?

    Al Marmoom Ultramarathon will be fully supported by Dubai emergency and first response services. The tracking devices will alert the organisers and safety teams if any emergency occurs. First response will be available on the route as well as at check points and a fully equipped full time medical team will be situated in the base camp.

  • Will there be spectators areas?

    There will be designated areas for spectators to view the start and finish as well on the route. There will also be a race village that will include food and beverage retail options.

  • Where will the base camp be located?

    The base camp will be in a fixed location in the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve situated behind ‘The Last Exit’ service area and near the Qudra Lakes and ‘The Nest’ the bird observation tower.

  • What are the cut off times for the distances?

    We would expect the runs to be finished in the following times:

    60km 14 hours
    80km 17 hours
    110km 30 hours
    50Km 12 hours

  • Does each route has different terrain?

    Each route has been specifically designed to offer runners a mix of desert terrain to enhance the desert and race experience taking into account the distance that needs to be covered. All routes are a combination of sand dunes and hard sand tracks and scrub offering runners different challenges, across flat surfaces and rolling dunes. The heights of dunes will vary from challengingly high to ridges and troughs.

  • Are there any special requirements for the baggage?

    The race bag must contain the mandatory run equipment which will be checked during the administrative and kit inspections.
    A drop bag may be left in the tent at the base camp.

    Additional luggage may be left in the luggage storage area at the base camp and accessed only after the race has finished.

  • Is there a minimum/maximum race bag weight requirement?

    There are no minimum or maximum weight requirements.
    Runners will start each race and return to the base camp so a drop bag left at the base camp is recommended.
    Whilst there are no weight restrictions, mandatory run equipment will be strictly enforced.

  • What are the run categories?

    There are 3 run categories, 300km, 110km, and 50km, open to male and female participants over 18 years.

  • When and Where is Al Marmoom Ultramarathon?

    Al Marmoom Ultramarathon will take place 9th – 13th December 2019 in the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve, Dubai UAE.

  • Parking Details

    Parking will be available for those with cars at the base camp and at the Last Exit in Al Qudra

  • Medical stations

    There will be a full time medical team at the base camp as well as first aid and safety officers at each stage and check points as well as first responders available along the route. The health and safety of the participants is paramount and the tracking devices will alert the race organizers of any issues.

  • Water Stations & Refreshments

    Water Stations every 8 -10km. Hot meals in the Base Camp night before the first race and after the final race.
