THE WORLD’S LONGEST DESERT ULTRA MARATHON - #AMUM

The world’s longest desert ultramarathon series presents a historic 190 KM ultra-race.
Al Marmoom Ultramarathon 190 KM will take place from Tuesday 8th February to Friday 11th February 2022.
This epic running event will include three challenging races: 190KM, 100KM 24-hour continuous challenge as well as a 50 KM ultra-race. Participants in all three races are expected to be ‘self- sufficient’, with water and tents supplied.
The event is set to challenge competitors’ physical endurance, courage, and determination as they take on the tough desert terrain of the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve and beyond.
The signature 190 KM race is to be completed in 4 days.

  • Who is eligible to enter the race?

    Participants aged over 18 years who accept the race rules and provide a medical certificate attesting to their medical fitness may take part in the event.

  • What is the race cut off time?

    40 KM to be completed in 8 hours
    100 KM to be completed in 24 hours
    50 KM to be completed in 10 hours
    Any runner who exceeds the maximum authorized time shall be disqualified and must return their bib to the steward. Any runner who arrives at a check point/finish point after the deadline shall be disqualified.

    All successfully registered participants will receive their race pack on the event day during registration.

  • Will there be support stations? If yes, how many, where, providing what support?

    *Course / track / circuit
    Difficulty: The run elevation is at sea level. The terrain is a mix of different levels of sand dunes and hard sand tracks (no mountain terrain).
    Each route is on varying surfaces, offering runners different challenges, across flat surfaces and soft moving sand.
    *Support stations: There will be checkpoints every 8-10 KM depending on the terrain and will offer hydration, refreshments, and medical assistance.

    *Participants must follow the route as marked out by the organizers, passing at a maximum distance of 5 meters from the markers. Failing to do so may incur penalties. The course will be clearly marked approximately every 100 – 150 meters. Natural landmarks will also serve as additional points of reference. The organizers will provide briefing outlining the route conditions and there will be constant monitoring of all the runners during the race.   • When is the registration closing?

    Thursday 3rd February 2022 or when Al Marmoom Ultramarathon 190 KM, 100KM and 50 KM race capacities are full.

  • Health Advisory:

    The health and safety of all participants, spectators, visitors, event management and crew is our highest priority.
    Regarding the COVID 19 pandemic, we will follow the guidelines and protocols stipulated by the UAE Ministry of Health & Prevention and Dubai Health Authority to ensure that every precautionary measure is implemented and adhered to in line with the UAE Government regulations.
    All participants, spectators, visitors, event management and crew over the age of 16, must fully complete both COVID-19 vaccination doses 14 days before taking part in, or attending the event.
    Adherence to the 2 meter social distancing rules and wearing masks at all times (unless engaged in a sports activity), will be strictly enforced.
    You will be asked to present the ALHOSN app or vaccination card to gain admission to Al Marmoom Ultramarathon.

  • What are the prizes for this event?

    Trophies and prizes will be awarded for the top 3 rankings in each race category (male & female)
    All participants will receive finisher medals.

  • What is the course's difficulty level and nature of the terrain?

    The race terrain will be over a desert landscape, including hard stony tracks to high sand dunes. The event will include overnight camping, with regular race stages and regular check points along the routes.
