The first of four Abu Dhabi Sports Council hosted community cycling events to be held in Abu Dhabi in 2016. The Yas Island Cycle Race will be held in and around Yas Island's Gateway Parks and consist of an Elite/ Club Race, Junior, Intermediate and experienced Opencycle race on closed roads.

There is a 1 lap option for children ( age restrictions apply and the children can use mountain bikes) , a 3 lap option for adults and junior riders and a 9 lap option for the experienced racers and elite/club race team riders. Each lap is 5.2km
