“Sore feet, delayed kids race - I really enjoyed the venue; I hope pictures will include some of the beautiful surroundings. My foot got badly bruised on rocks between the swim and the transition area. Two of my friends cut the soles of their feet in the same section of the race. I would rather not have to run/walk barefoot on rocks or asphalt, especially no so far. Organizers, support station folks, & marshals were very encouraging, positive, & helpful. ”

“The venue was perfect, but the course very poor - Exiting the water had us gingerly stepping over rocks to get to the beach. The bike leg was just 20km of speed bumps and the paved roads made it difficult to get any real speed. Towards the eastern end of the course the track became very narrow making over-taking almost impossible and I was delayed for a period by slower riders. Had I known about the speed bumps I wouldn't have subjected my very expensive rims to this event. ”

To spice it up even more, would LOVE to have the swim on other side if the palm (maybe for non beginners) with a boat start, 1.5km out and a race back to shore. Either as a dive off the boat or deep water start. Would be great for the TV too! A just one small criticism, could the T shirts have been given out at registration instead.. The queue after the race was quite long to collect. Overall, AMAZJNG RACE, AMAZING VENUE! ”

“Great - The only thing I would change is the award system. For the open event, if you are also in an age group category you should also be elligablefor a medal in the open category as well. eg I won the super vet and had the 3rd fastest open time but i didnt get an open medal. The ones that warren organises, open category is open to everybody even age group categories. But a brilliant day, this even is going to be huge. I expect it will rival the ADIT in the future. really great job to the team”

“Really great race on the Palm - Overall, a very good race, especially for its first year. The view from the swim and run was fantastic. A few suggestions: - Fewer divisions or categories (1st, 2nd, 3rd male, 1st, 2nd, 3rd female would be my suggestion....) - Signage marking distances on the bike, marking turn around points could have been better. - I personally would prefer to see a smaller grab bag with "better" stuff in it. It was extremely nice to have Costa Coffee at the event. ”

“Difficulty to find results - Event was excellent, goodie bag was very poor. Got a sample of energy booster paste and a cap. Rest was printed advertising... Till now, still don't have my timing... I would have expected to receive a link to a timing webpage in the hours after the race. Beautiful location, excellent organization, on time start and easy in and out of the venue. Next time I will bring my wife to join !”

“A great atmosphere... - The swim was great up until it was time to exit the water via sharp rocks - needed clearing or some form of matting putting down. Bike ride would have benefitted from better safety even road closures but the cobbled/paving didn't bother me too much. The requirement however to attend registration on the Friday made it an expensive weekend, travelling from Al Ain and booking hotel to save multiple trips back and forth to Dubai, consider those of us who don't live in Dubai in future!”

“Enjoyed the event, but safety on the ride an issue - The event overall was ok, but not by far the best I have taken part in. unfortunately the focal point was a very large car park and not the Atlantis hotel as advertised. the cycle ride was bordering on the lines of dangerous. I had two close calls with cars who's drivers clearly had no regard for the safety of the riders. one of whom pulled into the safety lane to 'jump' the queue nearly taking me and another competitor 'out'. the majority of the road surface is really not suitable for cycling.”

“Fantastic Race Overall - Race day was perfection - absolutely loved it! Great smooth organisation, and the course was fun. Slight hiccup in not informing the bike hire company of the change of set-up plans until the day before, and delay in results compared to other events could be improved. ”

The bike course near Zabeel Saray became a bit manic by the second lap and needed to dodge a lot of traffic. Probably impossible but roads should not be open if racing on the Palm. Did not mind road the surface but wheels felt it for sure. Especially in the tunnel. thanks for the amazing effort.”

“Extremely unclear transition area ruined it for me - Registration/bike racking before event was nice and relaxed. Good atmosphere. Pre race briefs were informative and good fun (announcer making jokes). Major issues were with the course- speed bumps and cobbled (ish) road on majority of bike course- why not lay down some gradual ramps to eliminate the bumps & something for the cobbled area. Transition area & marshalls were appalling- I was directed into the wrong area at the end of my bike- cost me 3/4mins. Marshall was clueless.”

“Growing Pains - I know this was the first time this event was run so in that regards well done. Some things that could be improved in the future. 1.)Longer swim course with no lap. Getting out of water hurts time and rhythm AND getting out on rocks cut my foot 2.)No passing zone on bike is bad, speed bumps including small ones in tunnel were bad, brick portion of road on palm is hard on bike 3.)While cold water on bike was great idea made bottles sweat and hard to grab.”

“Good Event Well Organised Poor Course - This event was well run and well organised, on the day everything was clearly marked and marshalled. The only downsides were 1) the exit beach for the swim was very stoney and you had to pick your way carefully (and slowly) out and 2) the bike course was very technical with paved areas, tarmac areas, areas where lanes were closed to traffic and areas where lanes were open to traffic as well as sections where cars were parked along the road and also lots of speed bumps in between.”

It was confusing trying to work out what marshalls were saying. Stagger kids' waves - some smaller kids got trampled and were bawling. Cheers.”

What I really didn't like is the course: - The beach had a lot of pebbles, hurt my foot.... Street being semi cobbled didn't really help the bike ride... Run was ok... You might consider moving it next year somewhere else...”

“A well organised and inspiring event - This was one of the season's more expensive events but it was pretty well organised. The fact that you could choose your t-shirt size on site was a nice touch - finally I get a t-shirt that fits me! A couple of niggles only - on the swim leg, the low triangular buoy was hard to spot; it would have been nicer if the road's had been closed, but in this location, it's not going to be possible. In the end I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected and it had a great 'community' feel to it.”

“Great day out on the Palm - Not taking anything away from the event, I do feel that it needs to be marketed as a Triathlon AND Aquathlon event. Being without a bike means I skip over many triathlon events knowing that I am unable to take part. I stumbled upon this aquathlon by accident, and despite being great fun in a wonderful setting, and terrifically cheap (the aquathlon event) - it was a surprisingly small field. But who am I to complain. The diminished numbers meant that I got a 2nd place trophy! Whohoo!”

“Iconic venue, great organisation - I raced and volunteered for this event so I know intimately the effort made by everyone to make this a success. Whilst there are issues and areas required to be improved I can only say that it was a marvelous effort by all those involved! Knowing the management team, they will listen to the feedback and make this event even better next time. The course, is the course and that's maybe something that we need to live with if we want to race on The Palm. I certainly will again! Bravo and thanks!”

“Pretty good event ,scenery great. - Scenery great , surface a lot to be desired. Speed humps are quite challenging and annoying especially when one catches you by surprise and you crash off the bike,which I did. A few potential danger pints in the tunnels, Otherwise a well run event. My last comment would be that the 30 second registration process could have been completed in waves on the morning of the race.....No Probkem and saved a trip out..”

“I love it! - It's my first time and I'm going to do it again. The venue is great and I enjoy the scenic view. Even the adrenaline rush under the tunnel though a little bit dark in there. I only got problem when I'm about to finish the race I almost miss the left turn for the sprint and go straight for a 2lap run because of tunnel vision. I would suggest that at that point marshal carry a board saying sprint left. they say it verbally but hardly audible. Just my 2 cents.”

“A well run event at an great location iconic place - Given this was the first time RACE Me have run the event I thought it was a well run event and very much enjoyed it. Swim course was good, Bike course worked well although narrow lanes at times weren't great and out and back run was good as well. The Pre race briefing was very good and to the point. Marshalls were evident around the course and think they did a good job. My only complaint would be that we are now over 24 hours after the event and no results are up which is late by normal stds”

I rated the course as average as the streets are not ideal and I am surprised that nothing major happened - especially on the bike course. - not your fault but to be considered. Beach was rocky. Timing was poor as no results have been communicated within a day. Best, Julian”

“Great day, great location - Great location. Really friendly atmosphere. Would definitely recommend the event for location ease of access. Good wave sizes. Well marked course. Unable to find any timings from the event. Children's events should have started at staggered times and on time. Toilets located in unsuitable position for competitors. Possibly feedback for next year that the cycle is cobbled with several speed humps so competitors can consider fatter tyres. ”

“V good organisation. Volunteers were lovely! - My first Olympic and a last minute decision to take part - literally on the last day of registration! Would have preferred that the Olympic was not a double circuit for everything especially for the run and cycle. No doubt this was difficult to get permissions from Nakeel but next time maybe? Was over all a good experience and the volunteers were v encouraging which was great for me being a first timer! Havent seen results yet but hoping they will be out today. (I will be the last one!)”

“Outstanding venue, organisation and atmosphere! - Well done to the Race.ME team for significant improvement in organisation. It was near perfect and most important of all the event was fun, with a brilliant atmosphere. Three small areas for improvement, the position of the prize giving in relation to the loud speakers, made it very difficult to hear the announcements. The speed of the results being available. The number of timing points to get greater accuracy for swim timings (given the distance from water to transition).”

“Great atmosphere and amazingly well-supported - It was a very enjoyable event, with excellent marshalling and clarity. It really makes a difference when athletes who care organize a race - as a participant you notice it in the smallest details. The roads need to be completely closed though - it was a dangerous and/or impossible to race with single lane traffic alongside. Also the run was short (9.4k?) - why is it so difficult to measure out a 10k course? People want to know their time for an Olympic distance, not a nearly-Olympic distance.”

“Not safe course for bike - Bike course was not safe at all. Not just lots of speed bumps but also lots of cars passing through very close to us. One taxi passed by just in front of me high speed and one big track suddenly stopped and block the road. I was very scared of those driver without consideration to us. Maybe you will have the comment there are some injured people and hit by car. ”

“Excellent race overall - He only problem I had was the finish of the bike leg, after turning off the main road into the parking area there was a lot of confusion about which direction to go and the volunteers around the area did not give any directions. There were at least 4 others on bikes around me and we all seemed to go different directions through the parking lot until we found the transition area. Other than that it was a great race, thanks for putting it all together.”

“Overall, a good event with a few issues to sort. - The venue was excellent and the staff were professional and very helpful. The only issues were the rocks on exit from the water and the congestion in some areas on the bike making if difficult to overtake due to the proximity of cars and busses. “The swim exit was terrible- got cut and lost time - Overall it was a great event but the exit from the swim was awful. There were sharp rocks everywhere and i slipped on them a few times cutting myself. Transition was good and the bike course was scenic but wasn't overly safe in some parts and at some points there wasn't enough space to overtake. The run course was brilliant and there were lots of support stations. It was a great event though and I would certainly participate again. Hopefully there will be a less rocky beach to leave the water on”

“Overall well organized but disliked bike course - As always Race ME organizes a great event. Unfortunately I crashed on the bike in a small roundabout near one-and-only. Another person was also sitting there having crashed a few min before. The cones in that roundabout made a very narrow path and the tiles were wet and slippery making me unable to turn/break sharp enough. Managed to complete the bike course despite several cuts. Unfortunately much of the course is on tiles and with many speed bumps it becomes a very uncomfortable ride. ”
