“A well managed and very safe event, well done - The only obvious improvement I would suggest is to arrange marshalling for cars leaving the car park back onto the main road after the event was completed, there were long queses mixing with local traffic all filtering into one set of lights that were running through their usual Friday morning timing. Causing some frustration for all and I witnessed one accident because of this. Personally, I was too tired to be frustrated!”

This year it was particularly quiet; some kind of anti-climax to what was otherwise a perfect half marathon.”

“Shining light on the UAE calender! - Overall great event, setting a leading example in for pre-event organisation and many things were really outstanding such as race pack delivery, communications, race day organisation in RAK etc. Only issue is the Abu Dhabi race bus needs to leave earlier or the driver needs more awareness of timing!!! Arriving at 06:50 is way too late for runners who have invested weeks of preparation into this race and could so easily have been avoided! Please look into this issue for next year, thanks!”

As an international runner we would have to take a taxi there, so there would be additional costs. So we decided not to go there though we had tickets. If I knew that before I would not have bought tickets for the party!!! I feel a bit ripped off with this !!”

“Beautiful track - Great Run. Really nice event - Only issue I had was were to return the chip afterwards... I tried the baggage counter, they told me it was to be at the start/finish line. “A superb event - Well organized, highly enjoyable race.No hitches, great route, and lots of fun. The elite runners put on a good show and the other 3,000+ non-elite runners were of a benevolent spirit - encouraging and gentle. The commentary was detailed, upbeat and intelligent, the organizers had every aspect of the race covered. Not to mention the goodie bag, which was very generous. I highly recommend this event. “Great event, very good organisation - It's my second RAK half marathon, and as last year I can say that I had a very enjoyable time throughout. Race packs were delivered in good time, and had plenty of freebies and info. Support stations are frequent, people are friendly and helpful. My only criticism is that once the race was over and I left the initial support area (where you collect, medal, towel etc) there was no real way to go back and keep hydrated. Also, not enough places to sit and relax/stretch off! Otherwise, brilliant!!”

“Overall well organized - Next year, seeing as you already have all this other technology to record people's running times, maybe organizers can provide those registering with the option to PRINT OFF their bus tickets if travelling from Dubai or Abu Dhabi to the race. Since my package wasn't delivered to me in Doha, I paid for a bus ticket that I couldn't use because it was sitting in Ras Al Khaimah and I was staying in Dubai. If we had the option to print the bus ticket once purchased, that would have been helpful.”

“Decent organisation, but disappointing route - The course is pretty boring, it feels very much like the organisers are prioritising a fast flat course for world record attempts rather than a nice scenic route for non-elite participants. The route this year had a few times where there was a foul smell of sewage. In addition, the medal was pretty disappointing compared to previous years, with no mention of the race name or year on the medal itself, only on the medal ribbon and a little "2015" metal piece that wasn't on the main medal itself”

“Great race again - Another great and well organised event - I calculated the distance as 21.4km but guess I must have been off the racing line? Shame really as was only 11 seconds over 2 hours, so would have been under if I'd have kept to the line. Temperature was unseasonal so I don't think there's any need to change the date or race start time. New style of medal is very good in my opinion. As others have said, need marshalling for car park exit as was really chaotic and slow. Otherwise, well done to all.”

“Great run - The run itself was well organised and started on time. My only criticism would relate to the organised transport from the finish to the hotels - we were told buses would run every 30 mins from 9am... I got on the bus at 9.25, expecting it to leave minutes later, but it didn't leave until almost 10. Apart from that little inconvenience, the race was well organised and all the staff/volunteers were very helpful.”

“Fast course, friendly crowd, superb organisation - I was not impressed with the driver of the coach back from the race to the Irish village as he was driving rather aggressively (tailgating, honking like mad) rather than defensively. If he wanted to race, he had the opportunity at the event, but the bus journey should not turn into a race.”

Plus you see the same areas over and over, I'd prefer a big loop around RAK. The only other complaint was the post race bus. I was finished my 9, but the bus wouldn't depart until 10:40. I just walked back, waste of money for the bus ticket. ”

“Stellar Event with one disappointment - A truly well organised and stellar which was almost ruined due to issue to race buses Having stayed at the Double tree had research the pre-race buses as listed on RAK Facebook page, departs Double Tree at 05.45am. However when arrived at reception at 05.33am was informed bus had already left and was forced to take a tax! The return bus was not in scheduled bus allocation slot of Nr.2, did not depart until Half an hour after departure time of 09.45am. Bus driver reply "I was for madam"”

“Better than previous years, but not other races - The overall organization was fine but there were a number of things that just didn't meet my expectations or could have been improved. Start time should be earlier to beat the heat. Race course could have chosen many more scenic streets (Khuzam Rd.??) Aid stations in other races give Gu, sponges, etc. and in Abu Dhabi, a free pass to Yas Waterworld afterwards. In RAK, you get a Mars bar & a free Costa coffee. Also photos are comical - 2 out of the 10 were actually me, the rest completely random!”

Well organised, great communications via email and social media leading up to the event, fab live SMS updates on race times, great timing details with time splits, pace, etc, awesome medal, quick, punctual and well organised bus transfers from and back to the hotel on race morning, plenty of clean toilets at the start/finish area. “Great event... definitely will return next year! - Great weather. Simple yet well organized. Very convenient parking areas, i.e. only a short walking distance to the starting area. Nothing major to improve except maybe a wider starting area. For some reason, my timings were posted on my FB status to my disliking. There should have been an option to post of not post on FB. Giveaways are pretty basic. The pre-event communications are a little too much with ads that may be a bit irrelevant for some runners. Overall, I enjoyed the event!”

“Great day - The bus service needs improvement. Our bus was 20 min late, and I ended up walking to the start and beat the bus. After the race we got on the bus, and after waiting 20 minutes asked the driver when the bus would leave and he said 10:30 (it was 9:45) or when the bus was full. We walked home. Why can't they drop to multiple hotels? It would have been faster even if we were on the bus a bit longer. Plus,If I had known the hotel was that close, I wouldn't have purchased the ticket to start with :)”

“Excellent event, start could be better/ safer - Excellent event well organised just a couple of items. 1. Hotel coach had no number, driver didnt know &went wrong way when arrived at start. 2. Race start. suggest a wider initial area with estimated finishing times on flags so faster runners get infront of slower runners to stop the risk if falling over them as they run so much slower. Within 500mtr of start several runners had started to walk. which in middle of a crowd was dangerous. if they were further back would be safer for everyone. ”
